Pop-oriented tracks can hit No. 1 in overall airplay- as long as there's no track getting widespread airplay at pop, rhythmic AND urban outlets. If there's a track that's getting heavy play at those formats, it's trough for tracks not getting play at urban to get to No. 1.
Prior to the all-inclusive Hot 100 Airplay panel, Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" reached an peak weekly audience of 116 million, I think. That would not have changed much with the expanded airplay panel.

LOL
Glee will break records for most chart entries.
So what?
Chart entries doesn't mean hits.
The Beatles had hits. Glee had maybe 1 that would qualify as a hit

ITA about this being crap, but guess what -- the mega-selling musical act has been driven by teens/pre-teen markets, etc. Remember The Beatles? 70s pop stars 80s -- Duran Duran? 90s return to pop HUGE because of BSB, NYSNC Britney & Christina. That's the way the market has always work. It's only when we look back that we see whether the music was of value. Glee is unique in that it's Up With People, but technology allows it to get on the charts. I promise you if this was pre-soundscan, retailers would not report legit numbers -- as we discovered certain acts were overrated on sales reports because they were cool.

If not itunes then these wouldn't be charting (at least not in this volume) since labels would have had to release each physical single separately

Like A G6 will crack the top 5.
I do think this is the nest #1, the competition right now is very weak. Maybe in two weeks???

If I'm counting correctly, the "Glee" Cast ups its top 40 count to 19 this week, and will addto the count next week.
Don’t Stop Believin’: No. 4 Total Eclipse of the Heart: No. 16 Poker Face: No. 20 Empire State of Mind: No. 21 Telephone: No. 23 Jessie’s Girl: No. 23 Dream On: No. 26 Like a Prayer: No. 27 Somebody to Love: No. 28 Billionaire: No. 28 It’s My Life/Confessions Part Ii: No. 30 I Dreamed a Dream: No. 31 Defying Gravity: No. 31 Gives You Hell: No. 32 Hello: No. 35 Sweet Caroline: No. 34 Faithfully: No. 37 Listen: No. 38 Halo/Walking on Sunshine: No. 40
The longest run on the chart for any "Glee" track is 7 weeks for "Don't Stop Believin'"; then, it's 4 weeks for "Poker Face." A couple of tracks have spent 3 weeks on, and then 7 or so spent 2 weeks. Leaving the bulk of entries with a single week charted.
The following "Glee" tracks Bubbled Under the Hot 100:
Smile: No. 102 (Charlie Chaplin) Highway to Hell: No. 103 Jump: No. 104 Give Up the Funk: No. 106 Bust Your Windows: No. 107 Last Name: No. 108 Gold Digger: No. 108 Smile: No. 114 (Lily Allen) Proud Mary: No. 115 Express Yourself: No. 116 Dancing with Myself: No. 119 Papa Don’t Preach; No. 121
