Received the Promo copy of the new Kings Of Leon CD Tuesday, so I'm sure a condensed .mp3 version has made its way to the public. Another fine release that should appeal to old fans and new. For those that have heard, which is the best candidate for radio?

Sounds like they're growing increasingly topical this era (well, I guess sexual frustration was a common theme in their previous material). They seem to nod more to their Southern heritage and cultural imagery this time around.
Again, this is alright material, but overrated. I'd choose "Pyro".

Oh, duh. The end of my poll is down where it always is, right by my socks. I should spend more time in the alt section. Anyway, KOL is my second favorite band period. I bought Radioactive from ITUNES (I usually don't pay for files but it was KOL so I felt compelled) but that's all I have heard and all I plan on hearing til release date. I'm just glad I have time to learn the new material before the Boston show. So excited!

I'd go for "Mary" for the second single. Other standouts on the album for me were "The End", "The Immortals" & "Pickup Truck".

I'd even argue The Immortals is the best song on the disc. But it doesn't feel like radio. Then again, radio would jump on about any song here.
According to XM, Pyro will be played on NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend. That would seal it as the next radio track.

"The End" and "Pickup Truck" should be the next singles.

Really? I think "The End" is one of the best options for a crossover hit like "Use Somebody".

"Back Down South" would fit more as a country single than a rock single in my opinon. Just add some Zac Brown or Alan Jackson and it's good to go.

Hey, if Bon Jovi can conquer C&W, why not a real southern band? It may need a country remix, but Back Down South could do it. Still my favorite on the disc.

With Radioactive having the second biggest bullet in the top 20 and possibly about ready to make another stay at #1 for a while, I'm not sure they're too eager to push Pyro just yet.

But is it true that "Pyro" is going to be the second single? I've heard rumors of "Back Down South" being the second, and I want "The End" to be it so bad!

Yes, Pyro is confirmed as the next single. Although I'd prefer Back Down South myself. Maybe later. The End is fantastic too, but it is almost definitely not radio material. Almost the same way Closer from the last CD was so good, but too slow for radio play.

What a delay! I guess that explains why I'm only hearing it four or five times a week.

I doubt this keeps their #1 streak going. Doesn't have a strong enough hook for me.

I would love for this to send them right back to the dumpster. I don't like this or Back Down South (which the AAA station decided was the second single) & have been unimpressed (although not completely turned off) by Radioactive & The End. Not that I'm that anti-Kings of Leon, but they don't deserve the automatic free passes to the top that somehow "Sex on Fire" started. "Use Somebody" was a good song but soon not enough to cement their establishment. I guess the only good thing about Radioactive doing that was that it staved off some bands that were obviously payola'd, for a few weeks anyway, but meh, we don't need it anymore.

Is one consecutive a streak? Notion didn't have a hook either, for me anyway, at it still did it.

I feel just exactly the opposite. While I'd heard of Kings of Leon, mostly on here it wasn't until Sex is on Fire that I actually heard them. Loved that and Use Somebody and I checked out their back catalogue. I find them vastly underrated, they should have been bigger sooner, and I'm extremely happy with what I've heard from this album and even happier that they didn't go the route of trying to re-create the success of last album. This music is fresh, inventive and the type of stuff I love seeing on alternative. No band deserves automatic passes, but truthfully, I'm more annoyed when a band like Green Day gets them than someone like Kings of Leon that seem nothing but humble to me. Just my 2 cents. Oh, and I think it should have been Back Down South
