Wow, I really love the performance, vocal, and look. I like the original arrangement better than this one but I actually liked the public big 'ol FU to the media who wishes to scrutinize Kelly for all things silly.
I got scared for her when the flubbed the lyrics but recovered without even it being obvious to non-fans, lol.

The arrangement was pretty weird, I have to agree with that. I don't know if I liked that aspect of the performance or not, but since the song is virtually dead anyways, it doesn't hurt to do something completely different with it. I give Kelly a lot of credit for doing that.

I thought it was a cool throwback for even casual fans of Kelly to one of her more famous 'Idol' performances - during Big Band Week. Aside from the rather funny lyrical flub, which she covered well, it was a vocally superior performance to anything we've seen thus far.
What is pissing me off is that she is trending on #twitter, but not with compliments to her voice. It's (mostly) about the red dress and an apparent 'weight gain.' And to think what the song she was singing is about...

tbh I don't know if I hated it or loved because I'm just on a high seeing her on tv but she looked beautiful and I loved that they stepped up the production. She's trending on twitter now and of course everyone is commenting on her weight.  |

She is a vocal talent, and all the haters can stay steamed cause I honestly don't give a crap what they think about my favorite artist. Last time she was on the AMAs, everyone said she looked old, fat, and matronly. At least this time she managed to pull off a look that showed off her curves and didn't age her. She looked great and as fans, we see a difference, that's what matters. If this all happened for a performance of WDKY, I'd be so angry right now. Thankfully they took these risks for MKIA instead of the song that really matters.  |

Her performances tend to get overshadowed at these events because of the crazy production for the other artists. At least she tried to spice up her performance. |

I loved the bridge and actually like the opening. it went well with the whole production of the number. I think she did amazing and looked fab.

Now that I'm thinking about it, that was a good performance for what I hope it was: a parting for a song that had a great run. Anything beyond that isn't necessary. Whether she gets a #10 peak or a #7 peak is entirely irrelevant in moving albums, and that's really all i worried about before this performance.
I also really enjoy that RCA/her management let her do this. She looked fantastic (for those who say the twitter comments are all about her weight, I read a bunch of comments about how much thinner and toned she was looking), sounded good (although maybe a little weary? The WDKY shoot and continuous worldwide promo must have tired her out), and took a risk that wound up looking cute, playful and a little bit ridiculous: but hey, thats Broadway!
I think I was personally too quick to jump on this performance as the do or die promo appearance. I don't think WDKY needs such intense promo, and if it does there are options. While the AMAs would've been a good launching pad, I don't think they are or will be crucial in the long run. Lets just enjoy this performance for what it was, not what it could have been.
