i like this song. Didn't think i would, but it's grown on me. Though i'm not 100% convinced the dance sound is what Enrique should be sounding like. It's just a little bit too "jump on the bandwagon" for me. Seems forced.

while it may seemed forced, i beleive its the ONLY way he wouldve ever been accepted on pop radio again, now maybe after a few dance hits, he can try to change his sound, but its too soon, and we should be happy hes managining to get airplay, since his pop career seemed dead.

Enrique has always been a "dance-pop" artist, the definition has just changed throughout the years. 'Be With You' is definitely dance-oriented (and amazing).

The video is a bit ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) I wish there was more of a plot. It felt like a few music videos edited together. Oh well. The part where Ludacris is in the car with the girls and that old guy driver was funny. I was like :o when he was fist pumpin' to the song. LOL at the orgy in the video. And it was only there for a few seconds. Such a tease. ;)

While I love this song (and the video is hot), I hate that he had to sell out to get a couple of hits.
I hope he makes new music that is latin influenced like his early stuff. "Bailamos" is still one of the best songs of the past decade.

While I love this song (and the video is hot), I hate that he had to sell out to get a couple of hits. I hope he makes new music that is latin influenced like his early stuff. "Bailamos" is still one of the best songs of the past decade. As a long time fan since before he sang in English I hope he doesn't. If you think about his real early stuff Si Tu Te Vas, Experiencia Religiosa was well done but basic pop sung in Spanish. There was nothing latin about it since by his own admission ( repeatedly)he's not really influenced by latin music. Which makes Enrique's crossover with the very stereotypical latin sound stand out. No surprise Enrique had zero input to Bailamos or Rhythm Divine, I don't think those two were even originaly written for him but that was "hot" back that. If you're inclined to use the term "sellout" then he did it here more than anywhere else. That may be harsh. After all he took the best opportunity to crossover and he seemed comfortable enough with the sound. I doubt he ever thought it would stick with him and to be fair it hasn't... Escape was a then very mainstream sounding pop album. Seven was also very pop in fact not too dissimilar in style to some of Euphoria. The problem is that no matter what style he did they would tack on a few songs that sounded vaguely like his early English hits and released as singles. Over the last five years Enrique has acted or outright stated that this wasn't his choosing and acted like it bothered him. In contrast he claims to have literally begged Interscope to include Takin' Back My Love and rejected I Like It outright. It took a new label a year on to see it's potential. Don't get me wrong, his current sound is a bandwagon jump but it's clearly one he's excited about and wants to be on. The worst thing would be to go back to were he had potential hits being ignored in favour of playing up to what people erroneously expect of him.

"Bailamos" is still one of the best songs of the past decade. I fail to see how he's "sold out" if his crossover career has always been rooted in Latin-infused dance-friendly pop music. I can easily see "Bailamos" or "Escape" being just as likely to hit today with some minor electropop modifications, just as "Tonight" would have hit a decade ago with very minor Latin dancehall touch-ups instead of electropop or reggaeton. Enrique's calling card has always been rooted in dance pop, and so his hand at this electropop trend sounds more natural compared to most of his peers, who strike me as more opportunistic. ^To me, the "selling out" part is getting Pitbull and Ludacris on his singles - I completely understand why he did it though - one more single like The Ping Pong Song and he would've been broke

So one can easily argue he has been playing the shrewd businessman card from the very beginning of his crossover bid, and his bid for featured artist clout on his two most recent hits really doesn't strike me as any more opportunistic than his earlier marketing efforts. Lol I had no idea that The Ping Pong Song was a worldwide hit (or that he's been on top of the Latin chart consistently) - guess he's been pretty far from "broke"
I still think the Pitbull and Ludacris thing was "selling out" though - IMO "being a shrewd businessman" and "selling out", in this case, are basically the same thing

The success of this single is the best thing that ever happened to Iglesias. Unlike Nelly, he had a damn hot follow up to his comeback single. He has totally revitalized his mainstream career after this and I'm sure American audiences will be keeping a more watchful eye on any new music he has offer.

Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus Well said. I didn't like some of his music on a couple of his albums after Escape. Much of it wasn't all that exciting. I loved his Dance/Pop-oriented songs. I think he does such music pretty well. "Be With You", "Rhythm Divine", "Escape", and "Not In Love" are some of my favorites by him. The addition of rappers of the moment like Pitbull may fuel that argument that he's selling out. I don't think that's necessarily true. Many singers have to occasionally release something like that to open the door up for them on radio. Most of us don't like when that has to happen, but it's one of those ugly necessary evils. I never expected his mainstream success to continue even at this point in time. What remains to be seen is whether he can have success without a collaboration of this sort.

Nelly is furious at the label right now for not promoting his album right. So I doubt anything more will get released from 5.0. He's done as far as I'm concerned anyway. 'Just A Dream' wasn't enough to stabilize his career.

I know we shouldn't be talking about Nelly here, but wasn't "Move that Body" announced as a second single anyway? I know it's a pretty bad song, but radio could've taken it to the top 50 without any promotion if they really wanted to play his music, it's happened in the past with other artists. I personally think Nelly's near-finished too anyway. That "Brass Knuckles" album, even though it had an amazing song featuring Ashanti and Akon which I can't remember the title of, still flopped badly, and this album, bar "Just a Dream," hasn't done much and looks like it's finished. Usually 2 flop albums means career going down, doesn't it? I expect another 2-3 albums from him but no big hits. Anyway, back on topic. I LOVE THIS!!!!11!!11!!!!!!!11!!!!!!1@@!1!!!!!!2@1!111!!2!!1
