"Always Loving You" and "I Don't Wanna Be Good" sound awful. So monotone. I prefer Folklore and Whoa Nelly to Loose. Loose was good, but so many of the songs could have been done by any other pop chick out there. WN and Folklore felt like HER sound. HER music. Only she could have made those cds. I disagree. One of the reasons I love Loose so much is that she successfully managed to fuse her sound into the kind of music any other pop chick could do.

For some of the songs-not all. We can agree to disagree. I am relieved that she herself feels that way about Loose though because I (selfishly) want way, way more Whoa Nelly's and Folklore's over Loose. I have plenty of artists who can give me a Promiscuous-I have very few who can do what she did on the first two cds. I have no doubts it will be a relative flop since people DO want pop chick club bangers and nothing else nowadays, but hopefully she made enough cash to continue making her music forever even if it never becomes a Loose-sized hit again.
Can you IMAGINE if her first single was a Tik Tok Rehash about parting and being yourself? **shudders** People would eat it up though.

See to me songs like "Promiscuous" and "Maneater" aren't just standard club chick bangers. There are so many different influences and elements in there that put it on a different level. But we can agree to disagree on that. Folklore is my favourite album from her so I'd definitely be excited for more music in that vein from her. The problem is with "Night Is Young" and now "Always Loving You" and "I Don't Wanna Be Good" she seems to be trying to recreate Loose but without anything that made that album special. I still have hope though.

Maneater is to me, art in pop music form. It's truly exceptional, its opened the way for the electro sound, and unfortunately, the level of quality did not follow. But Maneater is one of the best pop-dance tracks ever produced.

Nelly has so many more dimensions to her creativity to get stuck singing in one note over a hot beat. A Loose type album might give her some more commericial successful but IMO that doesn't seem true to her heart or talent. I also think that Loose was probably a one off. She and Timberland had the right chemistry and Tims was at his creative peak and not as overexposed as he became later. Nelly, leave the Dr. Luke and whoever beats to the Rihiannas and Katys of the world. you are best when you start organically and build complex song arrangements with an eclectic mix of styles. *goes to listen to "Island of Wonder"*

I like I'm Like A Bird but i think it's a bit boring when the artist go back to their old sound especially it's something that you didn't like pretty much in the past but i guess i have to listen to the song first to :). I miss her. Can't believe that Loose is almost 5 years old

I'm glad those snippets aren't from the Lifestyle sessions because they were horrible. See to me songs like "Promiscuous" and "Maneater" aren't just standard club chick bangers. There are so many different influences and elements in there that put it on a different level. I completely agree with this.

The Folklore album came across my iPod last night, and I must say that it is a masterpiece. It's such a shame none of the singles took off stateside because it's much better than Loose.

Nelly & Timbo are a great combination, second to only JTimbaland.
I'm all for trying new things though.

I hope there is NO timberland on this album. I agree. I don't want any Saucony, Nike or Fila either. But, I do hope we get at least one Timbaland song. It can be something understated and classic like Say It Right please.

I hope she ventures out with more singers/song-writers like she did with Mi Plan, that album turned out beautiful.

Ok guys so i have to shamefully admit i didn't become a nelly fan until like a month ago? My friend mentioned her and i heard her on radio before and i remember i replayed All good things a thousand times i just loved it so much, but i never really looked her up or anything, but when my friend said he loved her i had to look her up. I looked her up and i explored all her albums and i was amazed because they were all so damn good they all contained amazing songs, i did not hate any song at all and i absolutely love how she experiments with different genres and sounds for every album, no album is the same. First album was really different it sounded like nothing i heard before tbh, i love Hey Man, I'm Like A Bird, Turn Off The light, Hey Man and Shit on the radio alot! Second album was a masterpiece it was so beautifull and touched me deeply somehow, Picture Perfect has become my favorite song of alltime and i really really love Try, Childhood Dreams and Powerless. Her high voice in childhood dreams <3 and how strong her voice is at the end of try is amazing and then powerless, no idea if the song is about how media can say whatever the hell they want and she wont care or w/e but that's what i got from it and i love it. Third album was so fun and beautifull, it had songs like Maneater, Promiscuous, Glow and Do It that you could have a great time too and then those emotional beautifull songs like All Good Things, Say It Right, In God's Hands that you could spend time and just think about things. My favs are Say it right, Wait for you, No hay igual, Maneater, In God's Hands and Showtime. Fourth album was entirely different because it's entirely in spanish both in the language and sound, i don't understand anything but i am digging Fuerte, Manos Al Aire and Silencio. Every album is amazing i love every song on them, and after watching some of her interviews i am proud to call myself a fan because her personality is exactly like mine. And her laugh is amazing

I actually agree with both of you to an extent. WN is my favorite Furtado album and I think it's one of the most refreshing mainstream pop albums of the last decade. Few of her contemporaries burst onto the scene with such a distinct sound and approach. Loose struck the delicate balance between maintaining Nelly's distinct identity and fitting seamlessly with the rest of the rhythmic-heavy pop of the mid 00's. Folklore is my least favorite effort from her but not because it wasn't compelling work. It was just a tad bit dreary and lacked the pop sensibility I think she's more than capable of displaying while still producing something unique. Few of her contemporaries can boast having such a diverse catalog with only four studio albums to their credit. I anxious to see what she comes up with next. I think she's implying a return to a more organic sound rather than a recreation of her debut. But I am hoping for some of those quirky, repetitive syllables she had sprinkled throughout her debut. She has shied away from those since then.

I've liked her since the beginning, myself, but wasn't a huge fan until "Say It Right" came out and I bought the Loose album. And for not knowing much spanish, I LOVE her latest spanish album too. My favorites are "Manos Al Aire", "Mas", "Suficiente Tiempo", and "Silencio". It's just a sonically amazing album. But yeah, I'm so glad you looked into all her albums and like them all and already have favorites.

Nelly is so underrated here on Pulse. most of the people like her just for Loose, but Nelly is a unique artist, every album has something special, different sounds..and yeah her personality is cool too! ;)
