In no particular order:
Beysus GaGa Britney Taylor
The rest can't sell a million albums to save their lives, soooo.. And Boyle isn't a mainstream Pop act.

Taylor Rihanna Lady Gaga Katy Perry Beyonce
i think ke$ha is near the big 5, but not quite there, and britney has peaked in popularity and impact and will continuely have success but not enough to be in the top league.

Don't y'all act like Rihanna's album sales are spectacular, cause they aren't. Same for Ke$ha (4 hits and still not a million sold) and Perry (2 #1 hits and barely Gold).

Ke$ha has been certified platinum. Just saying.
It's also about total impact and relevancy today, as in recently. I'd say within the past two years. So yeah..

Albums can be certified Platinum and have sold 700k. ;) I believe Animal will be passing 1M sold any week now. This isn't the '90s, Mario, where shit like Backstreet's BlueBlack was overcertified by like 3M copies. Only a select few artists, such as Rihanna with Rated R, can survive such premature certification, which is why she's #1 Big League.

I believe Animal will be passing 1M sold any week now. Yeah and it took her almost a year and 4 big hits to do so. LOL you sure know how to turn things to your advantage, sir. I bow to that. I still can't at IDJ certifying her so prematurely, but maybe I'm pressed (as g4l says) because my fav didn't get one as well

3 platinum one gold, not bad i would say, many artists cant say the same You still don't get it. Rihanna has many big hits and poor album sales. Most of her hits were lifted off one album (GGGB) and that sold almost 8 million. All her other eras had 1 or 2 hits and sold accordingly.

From a sales, touring, singles perspective (in no particular order): Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Pink (a glaring omission, IMO) are simply in another league from the other gals. When you factor in talent, Beyonce, Pink, and Lady Gaga (for their vocals and dancing) and Taylor Swift for her songwriting/production are greater than a country mile ahead...
Overall, I would rank them:
Beyonce because of her multi-media domination, international star power, and massive talent (vocals/talent). Her touring numbers and critical (as well as commercial acclaim) are very good.
Pink- international superstardom, vocals, and probably the best staying power/consistency from the group. After all these years, her album and digital sales in the US are good, worldwide are excellent. Her US and worldwide touring numbers are stellar. Her talent- vocals, dancing/acrobatics, stage presence, and her way of staying in the mainstream at her age is even more impressive after over 10 years in the business as a solo artist in pop music, which has probably the lowest loyalty/attention-span from it's audience.
Taylor Swift- the singles and and album sales queen and the only gal to be able to sell out stadiums in the US AND worldwide. The most natural songwriter from the group.
Lady Gaga- for her cultural impact, international superstardom, and decent vocals
The remainder of the gals rank as follows:
Britney Spears- her name still draws loads of attention. Her album and digital sales are decent, but not stellar. Her touring numbers are very good. Her talent is disproportionately lacking and her age continuing to work against her with the ultra-fickle pop crowd.
Rihanna- her star seems to be slowly fading. Very average vocals, poor stage presence, but to my shock, still around at the top of the radio/singles sales charts in 2010.
Katy Perry- I think will not be dominating charts after this album cycle and should not be on this list, IMO. Poor album sales relative to her stellar singles sales. Poor vocals, nearly absent stage presence. I think her "fad" will grow old fast.
Kesha, IMO, has the earliest expiration date on her career from this group. Very short career, nearly zero stage presence, limited touring data, very good digital sales, relatively poor album sales. Not deserving to be on this list for multiple reasons, lol...

If we're talking about at this very moment:
1. Taylor Swift 2. Lady GaGa 3. Katy Perry 4. Rihanna 5. Ke$ha
But if we're talking about in general...like, who we'll look back on as the biggest female artists of this time period...it'd probably be:
1. Taylor Swift 2. Lady GaGa 3. Rihanna 4. Beyonce 5. Katy Perry
It was weird leaving Britney off but the only thing she's offered in recent times is the Circus era and 3 and while they were big, I don't feel they made as big of an impact as anything from those 5 recently ^^

Willow Smith is proof positive that Rihanna deserves to be in the Top 5.

How many copies would you say GGGB sold, Messy Mario. Don't serve me fish; I want #facts. WW? I think 7 million is more reasonable. She sold 2.6 million in the US and 3 million in Europe which would make it 5.6 I'm estimating 1.4 million for Asia and Australia.

From a sales, touring, singles perspective (in no particular order): Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Pink ( a glaring omission, IMO) are simply in another league from the other gals. When you factor in talent, Beyonce, Pink, and Lady Gaga (for their vocals and dancing) and Taylor Swift for her songwriting/production are greater than a country mile ahead... Gaga composes, writes, plays on and produces her own music too. That's what set both of them apart from the other mainstream pop tarts and why they gain a lot more respect: their musicianship. Is Gaga's music much different from Madonna's or Britney's? Is Taylor's from Avril's? Nope, but because they're generally regarded as real musicians, the industry and its establishments such as the grammys are able to accept them quickly. They both bring in the much needed sales and excitement to the industry with enough credibility for mainstream artists to satisfy the grammys needs for ratings and relevancy without losing their credibility. Not true. Madonna is the only Pulse's fave diva who's able to do stadium shows anywhere she chooses to. Britney, Gaga, Pink, Taylor and Beyonce can do it in some markets, but not all. Britney: main cities in most parts of the world Gaga: main cities in the US, Canada, Europe + Mexico City (possibly Brazil too since her sales there are comparable to Mexico, but there aren't any dates yet for Brazil) Pink: Australia and main cities in Europe Taylor: most of the US and main cities in Canada Beyonce: main cities in South America and the UK The other 3 are not stadium acts: Rihanna>>Katy>>Kesha Current standing based on their most recent track records (WW): Gaga: 15 mil albums, 50+ mil singles, $200+ mil in touring, tons of awards, queen of social media, high-profile magazine covers, the Forbes' lists, cover of the Time's top 100 most influential people issue, and the only musician currently in the running for the Time's Person of the Year with this glowing write-up: Taylor Beyonce=Pink Britney Rihanna Katy Kesha Based on cumulative sales WW (albums, singles, tours): Britney Pink=Beyonce Taylor=Gaga Rihanna Katy Kesha
