The Toronto electro duo has released a new version of "Not in Love" with Cure frontman Robert Smith on vocals. (The original version doesn't have Smith.) This is a remake of a song by Platinum Blonde. They've never done anything on the charts, and Robert Smith isn't even that marketable these days (although that's mostly because most of The Cure's recent albums have been bad) but he works well here. Normally something like this wouldn't go anywhere, but Live and Channel have apparently both added it. ( :o and ) What do you think?

I can't say this really appealed to me much.

I like this a lot, and I could see it really catching on. Could even see it crossing over to Pop if it becomes a big enough Alternative hit.

GREAT SONG...but sadly won't do much. I can see KNDD in seattle and CD101 adding it...maybe a few other "cool" stations but not many will take the risk.

Amazing.. but probably won't make much of a splash. I'd love to be wrong.

Top 50 - Alternative 55 48 CRYSTAL CASTLES - Not In Love 181 130 51 0.588 OMG, it actually made it! Perfect winter song. And when the holidays are finally over, the record companies will have no excuse to not push it. 91X has already added this. KROQ next?

Being a child of the 80's and Canadian, I grew up listening to a lot of Platinum Blonde, and although i wouldn't rank this as one of my favorites (although not much holds up well 25 years later) this isn't a bad remake but that could have to do with being a fan of a lot of Cure stuff and the familiarity of Smith's voice.

Since you have good taste in music I definitely had to check this out and I like it! Never knew Platinum Blonde did this.

This is sick and could be huge outside of Alternative and hipster circuits if Fiction Records wants to push CC that way.

This is fantastic. Hopefully, this will wake up the Cure, too. I could see this being big on a "1901" type of level. It wouldn't be a smash, but it could hit the Hot 100.

How I would love for you to be right! :) If "1901" can still be played this much two years later ( ) there's no reason why this can't. I initially didn't think this was going to go anywhere, but I didn't realize that it didn't go for adds until this month, meaning Crystal Castles got Top 40 pre-adds. So they've got the momentum & this could turn out big after all. Good point about the Cure too. I think there's still plenty of interest (as I remember back in '06 when all their CDs were flying off the shelves @ Tower's liquidation even at 15% off which wasn't a deal - no other new wave band came close, not even Depeche Mode, who's had hits here & there.) The problem is, IMO that the Cure hasn't released anything good in 20 years.

I agree that it sounds Disintegration-ish, but to me it sounded more like an imitation than a revamp, although I would still rank it above S/T, 4:13 Dream, & Wild Mood Swings.

Fair enough. "Watching Me Fall" is probably the closest thing to a progressive metal epic they've ever done, so of course that's gonna get me wetting my pants. I thought the acoustic guitar chord voicings and production gave the album a very distinctive and lush sound, so I give it my full support.

This song gives me shivers down my spine. But in a good way, in a creepy way. It sounds like it's from an 80's theme song to a sci-fi TV show.

Not that great of a cover, or a song. I'm surprised that it nearly cracked Top 20.
Robert Smith's vocals are rather nice though.

I really like the production on this. Sounds almost like a blend of the Killers and Linkin Park.
