I was listening to Ray of Light and it was so amazing with songs like "Skin" and "Drowned World". I hope we get that contemplative, sublime quality of her music on this album.

ROL followed the birth of her first child, so that probably informed that magical work (similarly, the deterioration of her first marriage did the same to Like a Prayer). Now, I don't know if she has anything to draw from, to reach into her heart and soul to produce THAT kind of magic. But, her music career has been filled with many magical moments outside of those two albums, so hopefully she works it. I'm looking for an improvement over Hard Candy (which wasn't a BAD album, just not the usual Madonna magic).

Ray Of Light is such a good album, one of my all time favorite albums by anyone. It hit me so hard when it came out. <3

William Orbit on Working with Madonna: 'This is THE album!William Orbit is absolutely happy with what he is recording with Madonna for her new album. "Working with Madonna is a treat," Orbit posted. "Fantastic tracks and vibes. Going deep. She's ON IT !!! This is THE album!" And he is absolutely right as well as he is THE wizard! Read more: drownedmadonna.com/#ixzz1cAcBNXhjI love reading this stuff. Just adds to the excitement of the new era that is upon us!!

^ thanks as always floridagrl for your posts. This even gets me more excited also. I hope when he says "deep", he is talking her lyrics. Please no more "get down, watch my bootie get down" lol. Curious of how much of a contribution Orbit has in the album.

NRM actually reached No. 93. ;) If WB had not delayed the single release and it released it around the time airplay peaked, it would have peaked around No. 60 or so (still not much of a hit, really, but better than 93 hehe) It did peak top 10 in the UK (and top 20 on the Eurochart).
ROL also had a profound impact on me upon its release and continues to act as a healer at certain times in my life.

Brilliant tracks, especially Drowned World. Which is my favorite ballad of all time. Reading William's comments gets me even more excited for the album! I'm willing to forgive the Nicki collab if the album turns out to be as great as he says it is .

Following the musical atrocity that was Hard Candy, Nicki Minaj is another nail in her coffin. It's not that using Nicki Minaj is a bad thing, it's that everyone and their mother has featured Nicki on a track in the past two years. She used Timbaland long after everyone had jumped on board that ship, and now she's repeating that with Nicki. Madonna is supposed to set trends, not follow them. Now she's reheating Rihanna and Britney's leftovers.
Too bad. After the last album was so lifeless and generic, I was hoping she would give me a reason to love her again. Unfortunately, a Nicki Minaj feature doesn't inspire much confidence.

I disagree completely :)
Hard Candy is better than American Life and Music....for me, not Confessions, but it's high up there for me. I listened to the cd straight for at least 6 months. Plus it was the #9 selling album WW of 2008.
Apparently this just leaked, or someone has indeed heard it, and the album version does NOT include features. Take it as you will.

I was listening to Vanity 6's "Nasty Girl" earlier tonight and I remembered that Madonna had a brief cameo appearance in the movie Girl 6, which featured that song. I thought she was cute and hilarious.

Recent Tweets About Madonna’s New AlbumHave a look at recent Tweets by producers William Orbit and Martin Solveig who did spend time together in the recording studio, this week, to work on Madonna’s next record. Orbit is – and has always been – incredibly respectful of Madonna’s professionalism and understanding of music, and those tweets are no exceptions. It’s also the first time, Solveig tweets anything that confirms the information we exclusively revealed last July about him being involved in Madonna’s next musical project! From William Orbit’s Twitter… Madonna has phenomenal understanding of both the minutiae of music and the big picture. Zooming in, zooming out. 4ever amazing. Plus VISION!!! From Martin Solveig’s Twitter@williamorbit Nice to meet you man, enjoy a bit more studio time and see you soon. From William Orbit’s Twitter…@msolveig Great meeting you too Martin! What a week! Read more: www.madonnarama.com/posts-en/2011/10/29/recent-tweets-about-madonnas-new-album/#ixzz1cGeCPRgAIt must have been amazing for Orbit and Solveig to meet each other knowing they are working with Madonna. Their synergism must be unreal. I feel so happy for them.

Hard Candy better than Music? As Madge would say, "Bite your tongue." :) There's nothing on HC that approaches the magic of several of the tracks on Music. Better than American Life? Not sure about that, but that's more plausible than saying it's better than Music. Oh, how the limited space of Twitter has become the place for news. :) I don't really use it myself. And, why are they called "Tweets" and not "Twitts"?

And, why are they called "Tweets" and not "Twitts"? I agree. I think Hard Candy is easily her worst album ever. The lyrics are awful, the production is generic and stale, her vocals are poor and nothing seems inspired. At least with American Life, she was attempting something interesting, even if it failed somewhat in the execution. And Nothing Fails alone shits all over everything on Hard Candy.

Hard Candy is her worst album by an immeasurable margin. Even American Life had a few highlights. Hard Candy was fairly abysmal.
I'm not at all excited about her working with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj (or even Martin Solveig for that matter). There's a part of me that's worried that even Madonna has joined the massive group of aging pop stars who have no idea what direction to go in.

For me, Hard Candy has some decent tracks, but a lot of them just don't get THERE- to that peak. Because of the mainstream direction, it's almost like the album had an anonymous feel to it, like it could have been any female pop act. And that's not a good position for a Madonna album to be in.

Nelly Furtado dropped by Madonna recording studio
All Madonna's fans are very happy that William Orbit is very prolific these days with his Twitter and Facebook profiles. He is not posting any detail at the end, but there is no doubt that every single post is thrilling Madonna's fans who can't wait to hear her new tracks!
According to one of Orbit's latest tweets, Nelly Furtado dropped by Madonna's recording studio. He tweeted: "Demo's lovely wife Nelly Furtado dropped by the studio last night. One of my fave artists! Has amazing energy. They both do."
William Orbit is talking about Demacio "Demo" Castellon, who is working on Madonna's new album and also worked on her "Hard Candy" album. Nelly Furtado is his wife.

It's just wishful thinking on my part, but I have always wondered what a duet with Madonna and Nelly Furtado would sound like.
I heard a triple mashup of "Miles Away", "All Good Things (Come To An End)" and "Criminal" last week and all three just blended together so flawlessly.

Those short-shorts weren't her best look, though, for her body type at the time. Was better when she wore the pants for that performance. Girlie Show is not my favorite tour, but it had some great moments.
