I have noticed that Rihanna's digital single sales aren't that high. With her last album it was strange that Rude Boy had sold as few units as it did, as the album wasn't selling too well. Now, with What's My Name being a really addictive and massive song, also not selling as massively as one would expect. Only this time it kinda make sense, 'cuase her album is relatively selling well. what do you guys think? I need someone to post just exactly how much singles and sales Rihanna is "SUPPOSED" to be selling. |

i dont see that.. xtina & cyrus opened with numbers just higher than this and both made 200k, neither having a huge hit, which coming home is looking to be

Next week Glee Xmas will become the 2nd best selling glee Album, after volume 1. Though, volume two will past it pretty quickly, since glee xmas wont sell through the year; volume three prbly wont catch up to it. Volume 4 is making a lot of ground on volume 3. Volume 5 should be coming out in Spring, with prbly another ep. Rocky Horror is dead. Journey To the Regionals still says okay, may hit gold in a LONG time. Madonna one may not be that lucky

Speak Now is #3 for the year to date. This will be the third year in a row that Swift has had an album in the year-end top three. That's something that no other artist has accomplished in Nielsen SoundScan history (which dates to 1991).
She has a shot to be in there next year too. Does she have any near competiotion to knock her off the top on the country charts in Janauary or Febuary.
Sad to See Ciaras peaks going from being in the top 3, to 44 :(
Susans last album spent 10 weeks in the top 5. This time its looking like 6, 7 if lucky. Only b/c its an xmas album. If lucky though it can re appear in the top 10 next year, AB almost did this year

RIAA has Barbara and Madonna ahead of Mariah as top selling female artist(U S A).
Barbara Streisand(68) 71.5million
Madonna(52) 64million
Mariah Carey(40) 63million
With this Xmas album going gold for Mariah she would inch that much closer to Madonna. Considering Mariah's age in comparison to theirs I think its pretty impressive :)
This...and Mariah will have more gold and possibly platinum albums in the future. I think she will overtake Madonna at some point (US of course-WW that ship has sailed). |

First album....he was a debut artist. 3 million is respectable. Second album...his only real hit was Gold Digger. 3 million off of that is great. Third album...already explained that. Fourth album...1.7 million off the strength of Love Lockdown & Heartless alone. Fifth album...738,000 off the strength of just his existence. Compared to his contemporaries with each release and the magnitude/number of hits, Kanye is a seller. A unit pusher. I'd more readily lump him in with the Taylors & Eminems than the rest. I'm not saying he's a bad seller, or anything of that sort, What I'm saying is: He always had sharp declines. So I don't get why people expect that to change. Sure, he sells well (let's not compare him to Taylor and Eminem, though, because he's not near them) but ever since Graduation, he has been what I'd call a first week seller, which is neither bad nor good. This...I completely agree. That comparison is a slap in the face of Em and Taylor TBH. He's front loaded but I would be shocked if he cleared 1.5 Million this era. |

If record labels would actually update their certs, lots of acts would have higher totals- i.e. Warner Bros. reported Madonna's U.S. album sales to be 75 million. So, even taking into account that some albums are "between" cert levels, that still leaves at least a handful of albums due for new certs. But, recertifying older albums is hardly a priority for labels nowadays.
I heard that an EP of the post-Super Bowl 'Glee" will be released. Accurate?

I frankly wouldn't be too worried about the Kanye sales. Critical darling titles tend to get a surge at about the end of the year, and while he won't probably rise on par with many indie titles, it will temporary halt the decline. Also, we have to see how his current single ends up taking off.

#400 on iTunes probably wouldn't result in a catalog chart re-entry. When the "Glee"
episode initially aired, GH: MP got up to the 30s on iTunes, and it was 41 on the catalog chart. With the heavier sales, probably wouldn't chart this time.

This...I completely agree. That comparison is a slap in the face of Em and Taylor TBH. He's front loaded but I would be shocked if he cleared 1.5 Million this era. Yeah you can't put Kanye in the same arena as Eminem and Taylor when discussing sales. You guys obviously didn't read my post. I didn't say he had their selling power or was even of the same caliber with sales. I was saying that I'd more readily group him with those rather than the Drakes, Katy's, Ke$has, and Rihanna's of the world. Really he's in between those. |

Considering the promo, and regardless of big sale pricing, some thought Mimi's album could go over 100K. But, not surprised by the results. Nice that it was a bit higher than HITS' numbers, though. lol. You never fail to slide one in. That's what she said...  |
