"Dynamite" looks poised to have a longevity run similar to that of "I Gotta Feeling". It's still in the Top Twenty in its 30th week on the chart. Ironically, having a hit of that magnitude may be what crushes him with regard to maintaining a significant presence on the single charts here.
Cee Lo's latest is holding up remarkably too despite stalling in airplay. I think the critical acclaim his record has received and the Glee Cast have helped make this a cult hit.
The slide for Rihanna's lead single made me raise my eyebrows a bit in that it doesn't seem to want to relent as far as airplay is concerned. It's only losing modestly on Mainstream Top 40 and is actually still gaining on the Rhythmic Top 40 despite falling well short of "What's My Name?" in both audience impressions and spin totals on the format.
With chart retrospectives affecting the chart considerably this week of course, it's noteworthy that the Country format was most adversely affected this week. Looking up and down the chart, there are a few exceptions, but overall country releases just plunged this week in terms of chart position. "Why Wait" and "Someone Else Calling You Baby" nearly fell off the chart entirely, both sliding at least fifteen chart rungs. "Bullets In The Gun" and "Hello World" came close as well. Barely further up the chart there's multiple singles that slid twenty rungs or more, including George Strait and Reba McEntire's latest.

LTWYL is back in the top 40, I'm guessing that's because of year end countdowns?

LTWYL is back in the top 40, I'm guessing that's because of year end countdowns? That, and the boost Eminem got all around from iTunes front-page promotion. "Not Afraid" did even better, probably because it got less attention when it first came out.

Next week we are going to see sales in the same range as we saw this week because the tracking week ended on Christmas day. So I am guessing that people still may have their itunes related cards and things to use up from the 26th on.

The tracking week ended the 26th, so the day after Christmas (which is the biggest sales day in that post-Christmas/pre-new years period) was this past week's 'Christmas' chart, but while sales will collapse this week, they will still likely be higher than usual 2010 sales

I would guess the #1 will probably sell no more than 300k next week.
There is actually a chance Firework could re-take #1 if Grenade's margin slips.

I am really impressed at the longevity of "Bottoms Up." It's a really fun song and it's just about to pass the 2 million mark! It's even funnier because when it first leaked, people thought it'd bomb and be one of his worst charting singles.

With only one day of post Christmas sales in I think this next week could be higher than normal as a result. About how long does it take for everyone to make their post Christmas purchases? I don't think they make them all in the same day.

Digital sales do not require stores to be open. People are using their gift cards for digital downloads ON Christmas Day. Go back a few pages -- you'll see how even as the number of post-Christmas days has gotten lower each year during the tracking week, the sales jumps have been consistent.
Sales will fall a lot from last week.

It's even funnier because when it first leaked, people thought it'd bomb and be one of his worst charting singles. No what I'm saying is that every year we see a huge jump in sales the week of Christmas day, and a decline the next week. Here are the following week declines for the #1 sellers over the past four years. There is a weird switch from 2007 to 2008, but then 2009 actually had a bigger drop despite having fewer post-Christmas days the previous week. 2009 -35% 2008 -30% 2007 -50% 2006 -52% I probably overstated the case earlier saying the #1 would have around 300k, it'll probably be more like <400k, but it will still be a drop.
