Somebody else had this idea in another forum I post in, and I figured I'd bring the same idea here. Here's mine off the top of my head:
Puddle Of Mudd - "Blurry" ("Drift And Die" was also okay) Aerosmith - "Dream On" Whitesnake - "Still Of The Night" Avril Lavigne - "Losing Grip" \m/ Madonna - "Frozen" Fall Out Boy - "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" The Killers - "Somebody Told Me" Saving Abel - "Bloody Sunday" (and "Drowning (Face Down)" is tolerable as well.) Buckcherry - "Dead" Nickelback - "Beacause Of You" and "Believe It Or Not" Five Finger Death Punch - "The Bleeding" and "Far From Home" My Chemical Romance - "The Ghost Of You", "Na Na Na" Three Days Grace - "Home" (everything else is really overrated I think). Atreyu - "Right Side Of The Bed" Hinder - "Far From Home" though now checking out "By The Way" at someone on the other board's recommendation, it's better than everything else they've done too. I guess that they have two songs that aren't horrendous in their discography. Congrats to them.

I think this discussion would be better suited for the Your Opinion Please section. Could one of the staff please move this to that section?

Pretty funny how someone who never posts in this section pops in seemingly just to request that a thread be moved presumably to a section where they do post.

Yeah, this thread is intended to target people who post in the alt/rock section of the forum. If it gets moved, then there's no way to pose this type of a question to the community that I associate with on here.

I was only suggesting that as you included Madonna on your list and she isn't exactly Alt/Rock.

I'm hard pressed to think of any artist that I only like one or two songs from. The only one that remotely comes to mind is Receiving End Of Sirens with "Planning A Prison Break", but even then I'm willing to give that band more of a chance.

^That song's pretty effin' awesome. Idk their other stuff too well. My band's last bass player LOVED them and was devastated when they broke up.

Oh man. I could probably come up with possibly hundreds of bands that would fit into a list. When I'm not totally half asleep like I am at the moment and have some time, I have to make one for sure.

Interesting topic. There are a good number of bands where I've only *heard* one or two of their songs, but I don't think it would be fair to list them here. And there are plenty of bands where I can't listen to a whole album, but I still like more than 1 or 2 songs. I came up with a few, but I too would have to take a lot of time to come up with an extensive list.
Buckcherry - "For The Movies" Angels and Airwaves - "The Adventure" Dashboard Confessional - "Vindicated"
Was almost going to put MCR with "Helena" and "Na Na Na", then I remembered I also liked their cover of "Desolation Row".

There's probably some bands that I only know the one of two singles that they put out and you probably have their kickass album and will be shock that I never bothered to check it out ;)

If a band is 1 for 1 or 2 for 2, it'd be pretty rough to include them in here. I feel like they need to put forth some evidence of their bad side to be worthy. But it's your list, and the more epic, the better.

Most of the bands I'm including are relatively good bands IMO, but only have ever put out a single or two. Otherwise, take a band like The Flys, which I've heard quite a few songs, but only like "Losin' It" so I included them as well.

I second "Blurry." First few are arbitrary, the rest alphabetic. Soulja Boy Tell'em - "Report Card" Pussycat Dolls - "Buttons" Avril Lavigne - "My Happy Ending" Simple Plan - "Perfect" Foreigner - "Double Vision" M/A/R/R/S - "Pump Up the Volume" (OK, I'm just being a smartass with this entry)Ashes Divide - "The Stone" (Couldn't believe how generic the album was... it sounded like a second-rate APC ripoff group to me!)Bay City Rollers - "Saturday Night" (I'm being "uninformed", but I expect they would have had horrible music)Bowling for Soup - "1985" Bullet for My Valentine - "All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)" Will Smith - "Miami" (At least among the solo songs.)The Darkness - "Get Your Hands Off My Woman" LFO - "Every Other Time" Kenny Loggins - "I'm Alright" Maroon 5 - "This Love" and "Sunday Morning" Men without Hats - "The Safety Dance" (Well, I don't like their "other" hit.)New Boyz - "You're a Jerk" (Their other songs could have been done by anyone, and I wouldn't want to be known as doing any of those.)Omarion - "Ice Box" Billie Piper - "She Wants You" (See "Saturday Night".)Plies - "Shawty" Queensryche - "Silent Lucidity" (Haha... just can't get over how overwrought/over the top most of their stuff is. This is comparably subtle.)Television - "Venus" and "Friction" Tonic - "Open Up Your Eyes" I'm sure there's a ton (well, I listed a few) of middling bands with a couple or so songs that I genuinely like, but I find those more difficult to think of, as those truly are a dime a dozen. If not for their second album, I'd probably include MGMT as an entry, but I think they've improved as an albums band. Additionally, maybe I'm wrong and the Band have songs that are not total snoozers. Would've mentioned AC/DC with "Thunderstruck," except I liked quite a few of their songs before Brian Johnson joined. One of my least favorite frontmen ever. Ashanti actually has 3 singles that I enjoy. I didn't realize you could like any Nickelback songs and not like "HYRM." Oddly, I thought the first two crossover singles from Dark Horse were some of their best songs, while the latter two pop singles were some of their absolute worst. I like "Breathe" quite a bit even now. (I'd probably mention "Never Again" if not for its odious lyrics.)

Tonic? Any reason why you couldn't get into the rest of their stuff?

Ashes Divide - "The Stone" (Couldn't believe how generic the album was... it sounded like a second-rate Considering that the core of Ashes is one of the two minds behind APC, what did you really expect? Also, I think the album is very underrated. It's less commercial than APC, but some of the songs are extremely entertaining upon repeated listens.

I could just name some one hit wonders here like Marcy Playground & Owl City, but instead I'll name a few who are more recognizable in rock genre... + N.E.R.D. These all being off the top of my head mind. I could write an extensive list, and add the lesser likes of Boys Night Out & Decyfer Down, but you know Blink-182 - "What's My Age Again?" Blur - "Song 2" The Bravery - "An Honet Mistake" Counting Crows - "Mr. Jones" Fall Out Boy - "I Don't Care" Kid Rock - "Bawitdaba" Marilyn Manson - "Beautiful People" N.E.R.D. - "Rock Star" Oasis - "Champagne Supernova" & "Wonderwall"

I would've had Kid Rock too but I liked 3 of his songs. ("Cowboy" and "Jackson, Mississippi" in addition to "Bawitdaba").
