Alien Ant Farm is incredibly underrated. Up In The Attic was phenomenal.

I have to agree with that. Movies was a really good song, but they had a lot of good stuff.

I was an "Attitude" fan myself. Granted, that and "Movies" were the only songs of theirs I ever heard in addition to "Smooth Criminal" and I liked all three just fine, but "Attitude" was the most impressive of the three in my book.

I'm in the process of working on my list, which is massive since I'm going through all the mixes I have and constantly adding new bands and songs. I've gone through 44 out of my current 154 mixes, so hopefully I'll be done sometime next week :)

I've heard those 3 + "Bug Bytes" & "These Days" and all sounded good. I'd like to see them lose their "one-hit wonder" tag with another hit on radio, but I doubt they can :( It's been too long for people to remember them, I'm guessing. I know they're working on an album as we speak though.

They released "Movies" almost as many times as Egypt Central released "Over and Over". (Not their fault, of course!)
I also liked "Wish" (from the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 soundtrack, as well as a cut from ANThology.)

Tonic? Any reason why you couldn't get into the rest of their stuff? They aren't bad, but I find them uninteresting. Ashes Divide - "The Stone" (Couldn't believe how generic the album was... it sounded like a second-rate Considering that the core of Ashes is one of the two minds behind APC, what did you really expect? Also, I think the album is very underrated. It's less commercial than APC, but some of the songs are extremely entertaining upon repeated listens. My point was that the artist sounded more like one of its imitators than themselves to me. Even the main single has a 30STM vibe for me, but at least that sounds like a top-notch 30STM song. AAF debate: I remember hearing lots of ANThology at the time, and there were plenty of solid and catchy songs on it. "Glow" from the second album was no slouch. I wouldn't call "Movies" the only thing I like from the group, but I do think it's one of their better moments.

Admittedly, I can't even remember off the top of my head how their other singles go, but I do remember hearing them. I also can't stand "Smooth Criminal", though.

You really only like one song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers? Wow. And a lack of love for "Losing My Religion" is surprising to me too. Thanks for the reminder on Jason Mraz though. Add him to my list with his two gems "Absolutely Zero" and "Mr. Curiosity" with nothing else that I really like much. Vampire Weekend might make my list with "Giving Up The Gun" and "Oxford Comma" but I haven't heard enough of their songs for that to be fair, and I'm also not sure if I actually like those two songs or if I'm just surprised that I tolerate them relative to "A-Punk". Yeah, RHCP and REM are two bands I've just never been able to get into. I think it's because each band has its general sound that doesn't excite me too much, and then for most of their songs, there's not much that makes one stick out above any of their other songs. (REM I'm more or less ambivalent to, and RHCP I find slightly annoying.) Same thing with Pearl Jam and Sublime, although they don't have any I'm crazy about. At least RHCP and REM have one or two.

Let me add some more:
Kottonmouth Kings "Dog's Life," "Bump" Lamb of God "Laid to Rest" (I might be selling them short, but I loved this song almost immediately, whereas everything else I've heard has had nowhere near the accessibility. And this has zero melodic clean vocals, so it's not like that's it.) Lil Boosie "Zoom," "Better Believe It" Lil' Kim "The Jump Off," "Magic Stick" Lil Scrappy "No Problem" Lloyd "You," "Get It Shawty" Lindsay Lohan "Over," "Edge of Seventeen" Madina Lake "House of Cards" Mario "Let Me Love You" Master P "Bout It Bout It," "Ooohhhwee" Matchbook Romance "Monsters" Motion City Soundtrack "Everything Is Alright," "Her Words Destroyed My Planet" Mya "Case of the Ex" Saves the Day "At Your Funeral" Shaggy "Boombastic," "It Wasn't Me" Ashlee Simpson "La La" Jessica Simpson "Irresistible," "A Public Affair" Something Corporate "I Woke Up in a Car," "Ruthless" The Starting Line "Island"

I don't get over to this forum that much but I've spent a lazy Sunday going through a few posts that might interest me. I saw this comment and of course being the resident Rob Thomas/MB20 fan I felt the need to comment. I have to say that I'm really stoked for their new album. Paul tweeted that it is by far their best album to date and his tastes probably lean more alt than Rob's so that's probably a good thing for an album that may be more alt/rock than pop/rock this time around. 2002 was their last full length LP. Anyway, pen, I think our musical tastes differ but CC really isn't twice the band as MB20. MB20 really has some stellar musicians that I think really never got the praise they deserved because they became so massive on the first album and then Smooth happened. Heck, Kyle Cook their lead guitarist, was only 19 when they recorded their first album. I love me some CC too but they are more folk/rock to me and appeal to fans of DMB. Matchbox is more HotAC and pop/rock but I feel that they really are a lot more alt/rock than CC ever was. I just stumbled across this old song from Mad Season that I have a new appreciation for. Rob could rap really quite easily if he choose to do so. His singing voice is really fast talking in his unique way a lot of times anyway. Well, my .02 for today. Don't know if anyone will actually see this post in such as old thread. Crutch - great sound quality www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNrtcG1Nfbg&NR=1Kinda weird I guess, considering Matchbox 20 & Sister Hazel are 2 of my favs. Doubly weird, since the Crows are better than both of them combined.

CC appeals to fans of awesome. That's not to say that Matchbox Twenty isn't awesome, but CC is more awesome. This is purely my opinion.

I'm not a big fan of these guys by any means, but my local alternative station played "Crutch" as the follow-up single to "Bent" rather than "If You're Gone" (for obvious reasons) and "Crutch" is the only song I really like by them (though I liked "Bent" and a few others enough to not include them on my initial list).

They must be awesome because my friend told me once that for a couple of tours years back, they somehow used to shanghai top billing over bands who were more popular than them.

"Crutch" scraped the Alternative Top 50 back in the fall of 2000.

I always assumed it was probably intended as the second Alt. single because I bet even the band & record label knew that "If You're Gone" had a 0% chance at charting and that the song becoming a hit at all was kind of the full death blow for the group on the format.

That is why we are here. I'm just like any big fan and get excited talking about my favorite band. It's hard to say why a band or artist can really connect with a person but we all know that they can (well for those of us who love music anyway).
