I Wanna Dance With Somebody (The Movie: Whitney New, Classic and Reimagined) is out now. I wish they had gotten Whitney's star collaborators during her career (Babyface, David, Narada, Mariah, Brandy, Denzel, Angela, Kevin, etc.) be involved in some capacity; get the producers/duet partners involved in the soundtrack and have them help promote the movie to truly make it a celebration of her life and songs. This all seems like a non-starter to me, though maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. |

Being a long time Whitney fan I like most of this new project.
At first I was surprised they didn’t clean up her vocals on the reimagined versions of her rendition of “Don’t Cry For Me” but I got over it.
I think Rodney’s country esque version is stunning.
I like most of the remixes and the reimagined version.
I think “Okay” (INRBIO) is hott and most of her fans are loving “Honest” (hh).
The remix of “I Love The Lord” with BeBe Winans is getting trashed in the Whitney fan community but I love it.
It’s strange but something’s very haunting about it.
The unreleased track “Far Enough” is nice. Normally I don’t gravitate to her smooth UAC stuff but I’m enjoying it.
Maybe I’m in the minority and I can see why some people may think it’s a bit messy but as a fan I think it comes together nicely.
I didn’t want a standard GHs cd disguised as a sdtk and this isn’t that.
I’m a happy Nippy fan!!!

I did not know that either, but I'm glad it worked out the way that it did. Otherwise, Whitney would not have been the global icon that we had come to know today, and we would not have been introduced to the style icon Lisa Bonet.

I read about that years ago. I'm not sure why it wasn't mentioned more by Whitney or in the media. But everything worked out the way it should have and there was no way Clive was going to let a once in a generation talent like Whitney's slip away. He probably envisioned her as a potential money making machine which came into fruition.

Even in death, she is still being shown her flowers. I agree with the recent Rolling Stone list, well at least the top 2 as Aretha and Whitney. Mariah is the only living female artist who deserves to be in that company.

How did it I never notice that “All At Once” and “Didn’t We Almost Have It Al” sound identical??? At least they're on separate albums I guess. Masser was definitely one note. I can't believe they put "You're Still My Man" on the same album as "DWAHIA" with a straight face. |

The album cuts on Whitney are not my favorite, to say the least. I'm Your Baby Tonight is a much stronger album as a body of work.
