I am a huge Madge stan, but I think this has a better shot of doing something on radio than "Give Me All Your Luvin'"

Anything with even a wee hint of feminism is a gay anthem. Run This World? WW will be a pretty hot seller and get action on dance-oriented stations, but the music sounds reminds me of the German stuff from mid-90s (Real McCoy, LeBouche, etc.) Not that there is anything wrong with that.

^Madonna also needed Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. to get that airplay. ;)

Every fresh Madonna single from a new studio album will receive a certain level of airplay, no matter what it is. GMAYL's numbers were 44 million in the first week (three days included hourly play on a number of stations) and 20 million in the second week.
I don't thin we can expect a single by a 66-year-old act in this day and age to garner 20 million+ in audience for a week, even if it had a radio promo for a day or so. Cher has defied odds on the charts before, but "Believe" was one of those fluke singles, that was a smash pretty much everywhere in the world and then took off in the USA months after that worldwide success.

A far cry from 'Believe' and 'Strong Enough', but decent enough for what it essentially is. I am not expecting a hit or anything but I'd love that simply because I think Cher is pretty bad ass.

Agree with HolidayGuy - Believe was a unique single - remember a "strong" follow-up like "Strong Enough" couldn't muster much play. A 20-something singer with that follow-up to a monster smash would've easily hit the Top 10. I'm just glad Cher's putting out new music. I love that fact that she has defied everyone's expectations and continues to move along.

I don't see Believe to be a fluke. The album was a big seller.

I don't see Believe to be a fluke. The album was a big seller. I went and checked its sales, and I must say they're pretty damn impressive. :o Australia - 140,000 (2x Platinum) Brazil - 100,000 (Gold) Canada - 600,000 (6x Platinum) Europe - 5,000,000 (5x Platinum) Japan - 100,000 (Gold) Mexico - 200,000 (Platinum) USA - 4,000,000 (4x Platinum) The only other females who were outselling her at the time (1999) were Shania and Britney.

Mpol, fluke in the sense that it was a one-off smash single for her in the USA (and globally). I like "Believe," but I liked "Strong Enough" and "All or Nothing" (which was very "Believe") a bit more than "Believe." The album ended up as her biggest seller, so there was strong momentum, even if the followup singles didn't take off like the lead single.
And don't get me started with "Song For the Lonely"- that's the track that should have enjoyed the smashing success that "Believe" did.

I actually thought "Strong Enough" wasn't the best choice for a second single because of it's disco-inspired sound.
Actually now that I think about it, reversing "All or Nothing" and "Strong Enough" might've worked better.

Here are her Radio & Records pop radio info from Believe and Living Proof
Song Peak Pk Date Wks at Peak Entry date Weeks on chart Believe 2 3/5/99 3 12/11/98 26 Strong enough 28 6/25/99 1 5/21/99 9 Song for the lonely 36 2/8/02 1 2/1/02 5
I vaguely remember "A Different Kind of Love Song" making some small waves too, but I think that was Hot AC and/or AC.
Sidenote: "Half-Breed" was the very first #1 on the very first R&R chart in 1973.

^Yah- "A Different Kind of Love Song" cracked the bottom of the AC chart, which doesn't translate to many waves.
On Hot 100 Airplay, "Strong Enough" peaked at No. 74 (and No. 57 Hot 100). "All or Nothing" didn't chart. "Song For the Lonely" bubbled under on airplay alone, and then reached No 87 on the Hot 100 (when the maxi single was released, though after it had peaked in airplay).

Love D'amore was the fourth single from that album too though I think it might have been in European markets.

^You mean "Dov'e l'amore? :) It wasn't promoted at U.S. radio, but it was a dance hit.

Dov'e L'amore was also awesome :) although I liked the remixed version better than the album (I'm not sure if it was the Todd Terry or tony Moran mix tho)

I don't like Cher's music (Believe is the exception) but her single is OK. Oakenfold's production sounds similar to RedOne here.

I guess the single wasn't released digitally today, as was previously reported?

I guess the single wasn't released digitally today, as was previously reported? Correct. (Editor's Note, Nov. 23: An earlier version of this story reported that "Woman's World" -- according to Cher's since-deleted Tweets -- was due to be sent to U.S. radio stations on Monday, Nov. 26, followed by a commercial release to iTunes the next day. However, her publicist has told Billboard that information is incorrect. For the present, the song is available only to stream online.)

Or her record label is already messing things up even before the era really begins.

i love this song. i know it probably wont stand at chance at top 40 or hot ac, and its way to dance for AC. it would really be something if this took off on top 40. if it wasnt Cher and someone new or younger i am sure it would have no problem. i am sure this will be a number one dance single for her though

^No doubt about the dance chart. Anything but No. 1 there would be a flop.

Who is Cher?

If you really don't know who Cher is, it says more about your ignorance than her legacy.
