She gets such a bad rep for being boring/vanilla, personality-wise. Her Breakfast Club interviews are always so funny, she has a nice sense of humor about herself.

61% of sales have been reported per HITS and Jordin is outside the top-50 with less than 1,700. Is she even gonna crack the top-100 on Billboard?

I hope she does a tour with this album. Those ending vocals on "Tell Him I Love Him" are AH-MAZ-ING!

She's a great singer, no doubt. But I don't know, I just wasn't feeling anything she was offering on this album. It was just kinda there for me, and unfortunately, overall, forgettable.

I'm not sure how she can be kept on the roster after this but...stranger things have indeed happened. I'm just glad she gave me the level of quality she did.

Well, she is on a new label, and I think it's part indie.

I'm not sure she'll be any worse off without the label than she is with it. Keeping her locked up has done more damage to her hit-making potential than another flop album/singles would've done three years ago. Hopefully she can get a chance at a redux like Leona is getting once she's out of there.

Can't really agree, nobody has even believed in her like Salaam did/has abs she's made that more than well known. The music quite simply just isn't connecting and many just aren't interested

Poor Jordin.
She's easily one of the most naturally gifted/underrated vocalists in the industry right now.
When I first heard about Jordin's new direction (and the subsequent singles), I wasn't blown away, but the album is great as a standalone body of work. I didn't plan on listening to this initially, but Jordin absolutely surpassed my expectations 100%, and this coming from a non-Urban listener/fan.
Some of it sounds a bit gimmicky, but on the whole, Jordin sounds more confident and "at home" here than she does on her previous Pop albums.
I'm liking the more mature sound/image for her, and she pulls it off pretty seamlessly.
Vocally, she's just a BEAST, and I'm saying that as a longtime fan of hers. She just soars.
"Tell Him That I Love Him" is probably my favorite song on the album, she MURDERS those vocals.
"Boyz In The Hood" is an absolute jam.
Anyway, it's a shame this album won't do anything, because it's an extremely solid record, and Jordin sounds better than she ever has. I feel like people are going to overlook this project simply because people often assume a new direction= selling out, which isn't the case here.
Jordin deserves so much better.

The music quite simply just isn't connecting and many just aren't interested Tbh, I wonder if she'd have gone this direction if she hadn't read the writing on the wall that she would definitely be flopping regardless (ie, why not take a chance making something different for her that she enjoys if success is impossible?). A forced 5 years' absence and little to no marketing/promotion, taking any song they thought was a hit to give to other artists? Not to mention all those false starts they gave her (and her fans). She seems like a smart girl to me, I'm sure she expected the worst, too.

But she's the one who wanted to take the direction....to hear her talk about the songs in interviews you'd just know she was sitting on gold. The album isn't bad at all

Unhappy is the No Air of this album, except since it's way more R&B, I can't imagine it being played on pop radio. What a damn shame.

^Yeah, it's not that she doesn't like this sound, although for that matter it's not that she doesn't like mainstream pop either. But I would guess while she was with RCA she was continuing to look for pop hits under the presumption that is what she would need to do to keep the label happy and be successful/remain signed. After five years of being repeatedly screwed over, for seemingly no reason other than a combination of ineptitude and flat out pettiness, and her only way out of that hellhole being an exit to a label with no real framework to adequately support a pop (re)launch, you might as well go out with the r&b album you feel is the closest reflection of who you are right now rather than scrambling for more pop songs that aren't going to go anywhere regardless of how good they are. I predict she'll take on some more acting projects soon after this. Not that that is a bad thing at all, it's just kind of annoying that she may end up having to rely more on her acting career than her music, because unlike Kat McPhee I think music has always been Jordin's first love.
I don't think she's at any risk of getting dropped by Salaam if she wants to stay there, because who else on Louder Than Life's roster is selling at all? (The label doesn't even have its own website or a wiki page...I'm so through.) If anything the danger is more in the label as a whole going under because it isn't bringing in any money. I was really hoping she could at least eke out 8-10k. :( I also wonder what her contract is like/how many more albums she may or may not owe to anyone, since her original label is now folded. My guess is that Sony absorbed the remainder of the contract and won't drop her but also has no interest in actually doing anything with her. Hence why they let RCA sit on her for so long and then finally let her move over to Salaam's label, albeit still with no support whatsoever.
What's really interesting/mind-boggling to me is how Jordin seems to get pretty much nothing but love from the producers and writers she links up with, so it's not even a matter of people consciously passing off nothing but leftovers to her. It was just the actual label itself, not only refusing to believe and invest in her but refusing to even let other people believe and invest in her. I'm so curious why that is.
Re: Unhappy, I'm miffed she didn't go with that as her comeback/capitalizing on a public breakup song instead of her take on How 'Bout Now.

Do you think "Left..Right?" is about DeRulo, also? That's a bomb song.

I actually really like a good portion of this album. 100 Years, Silhouette, Left...Right, They Don't Give...There's some quality material on here.

I think it's going to be a very similar situation. Sad. Both talented girls. And Jordin Sparks is just stunning to look at
