Ciara obviously. I had a hard time decided who to put next, Britney or JLo... In the end I went with Britney because if you like at her earlier vids when she was on tour in the early 2000s she honestly ups JLo every time. By what logic? Everyone spreading their legs on a street corner ≠ a dancer. :-\  |

Aaliyah wasn't all that GREAT? WTF?  Maybe because I grew up with Aaliyah and not the Britneys and Jessica Simpsons....but Aaliyah is considered one of the BEST dancers SINCE Ciara? ??? Has ANYBODY HERE EVEN SEEN HER VIDEOS? More Than A Woman, Try Again, Are U That Somebody, Hot Like Fire. I could keep going ON AND ON? :O. I shouldn't take this poll so serious anyway..considering this is place only recognize divas.  |

Britney is/was all about hand poses and cheerleading breaks, she never had the intricate footwork or bodywork needed to be considered a great dancer. Once in a while she pulls off a great routine, but she's inconsistent.
Jennifer looks good on the dance floor but her technique isn't very sophisticated and she seems quite limited in her scope. Put on a hot beat and she will grind your ass to the floor but her range doesn't extend far from the urban dance field.
Madonna is just a hip grinding, thrusting poser. She can follow the beat and choreographed steps but there is no originality and or innate natural rhythm. Stereotypical group dancer.....she wouldn't stand out in a dance off.
Beyonce is probably the most natural dancer of them all and what she lack for in text book technical ability she more than makes up in her flexibility and body lines. Beyonce has swagger, sass and that alone can mask her weaknesses on the dance floor. Beyonce skills lie in her showmanship, but take that away and you have your next door booty shaking trick.
Ciara is the best dancer of them all. She can follow intricate choreography fairly easily and her body just flows with the music. She usually has the most demanding routines of all the ladies and is able to pull off a lot of styles thanks to her lean body lines and strong technical prowess.
Imma gonna hand this one to Ciara.

Jennifer Lopez. At her peak, specially her Fly Girl years, she killed. Followed by Beyonce, she just moves with passion and heart, which the other girls lack in the poll. Ciara has the technical moves, but lacks charisma, like a stripper. Britney is given the moves, and performs, but makes up in sexiness.

Anyway, Britney and Ciara feel like the most 'natural' dancers and of the five have the most difficult choreography that I can recall. Beyonce and JLo don't feel nearly as effortless (a little odd to say for JLo since she is the only one on the list who actually made a living as a dancer for a while), and JLo mostly did hip-hop dancing so she also didn't seem very versatile either.
Dancing doesn't come nearly as naturally for Beyonce as it does the others, but I do think she tries to vary up her shows with each era so that it doesn't feel like she's locked into the same style. I would say of this list, Beyonce is the best performer at her peak, not best dancer (with Britney's peak as a performer being a close second). Given the choice, any celeb in his or her right mind would rather be a better performer. You can be a great dancer but still not know how to put on a show or command a stage.
I loooooooved Aaliyah, but I will be honest, she didn't have choreography that was as taxing as the ones mentioned above. (Note: this does not automatically mean she was a lesser dancer because she probably could have pwned Ciara any day; it just means she did not have choreography to definitively put her up there as one of THE best.) She generally gets recognized for her dancing because it was the mid-90's and until Britney came out, no one else was really trying to corner that market at the time. It wasn't like dance moves were all that hard back then, we were just easily awed by anything that called for ten or more people on a stage wearing matching outfits and doing synchronized movements. (Hey, I'm still impressed by the dancers from 112's Only You video. Those girls had rent due!) She was very fluid though and made everything she did do seem effortless.
Unable to rate Madonna - I will be honest, I have no idea what her 'peak' is as a dancer. I'm much more familiar with her music than her choreography, and I cannot recall any choreography off hand that is particularly difficult (so that I can measure it against the others' work). Hell as far as I know she didn't start dancing until MATM and Confessions on a Dancefloor but somehow I know that just isn't accurate. I should probably be ashamed to admit as much, but *shrug* oh well.
Deserves a nod even though no one here really remembers her: Mya was a great dancer, could probably beat Ciara at her own game, and was/is extremely versatile (can do ballet, jazz, and tap as well as having learned ballroom dancing on Dancing With the Stars). Honestly she should have found more music that allowed her to show that skill off, it might have extended her relevancy.

Mya was an incredible and one of the few technically trained dancers who should be at the top of this list. Yes, cynthiarose, she would beat Ciara at her own game because mya was more of a dancer than she ever was a singer.

Aaliyah hate needs to stop. she was a great dancer. Just because she didn't dance until her weave fell out of her head doesn't mean anything. Aaliyah danced like a snake, and moved like liquid. and she was versatile, more than Ciara at least. Aaliyah wasn't a flashy "trick" dancer. She was all about vibing. Think about it this way. ALL of Aaliyah's music was ballads and midtempos. So of course her dancing wouldn't be that over the top and be full of energy. Her music was laidback, so why wouldn't her dancing be? duh, idiots. Aaliyah went to school for dancing. So obviosuly she had talents and abilites that we never seen. She only started to use her dancing in her music from 98-2001, so she has alot less material as compared to Beyonce, Ciara, and Janet who has numerous videos and performances to judge.
