Random question -- has Rihanna picked a fourth single yet?
I'm wondering if S&M goes #1, if both she and Katy could end up with 4 #1s from 1 album.

Well Katy Perry will definitely be #1 eventually, if not next week then the week after when digital sales get a boost from the video premiere. Rihanna's seems more chance-y, S&M's digital sales have been really stable and I'm even surprised to see it fighting off newer releases and lingering around the top almost 2 months after the video came out and no promo but I think it'll peak at #2.
Katy just has to outsell her by 40k to get the #1 and she has 2 versions.

I keep feeling Rihanna's chances of hitting number 1 will rest on one or a few performances of S&M. If she does one on the last week of March she'll be in a better position than ever. It will be tough without it. as people have mentioned in other threads, Def Jam will most likely see that opportunity to get S&M to number one once her airplay is higher and will book a couple performances and will put the song on a $.99 sale (a la Only Girl)...so i wouldn't count it out just yet I just hope her sales remain stable by then and the shake-up at IDJ doesn't jeopardize their strategy...then again wasn't LA the one who didn't want to put OG on sale? I wonder if Katy or Rihanna can become the first female with 5 #1's on an album.

I wonder if Katy or Rihanna can become the first female with 5 #1's on an album. I wouldn't be surprised if Katy or Rih achieve that, especially if either one of them re-release their albums. After Cali Gurls, I thought each single would do well but would suffer the same fate that had befallen Hot N Cold, in which the song becomes very successful but falls just short of the top. But TD, Firework, and (likely) ET have each proven me wrong. What will be even more impressive is if either achieve that feat before or w/o a re-release.

It's even cooler that both of them are best friends and are having friendly competition.

California King Bed is the 4th single wasnt there an annoucement saying a 4th single actually hasnt been chosen there was a recent announcement (this week) that said CKB is the fourth single and that the video was being shot @ the end of the month (confirmed by the Producers on twitter)....Anthony Madler will be shooting it ( twitter) riri would NEED a re-release, i think S&M will hit number 1 but i dont think any other songs fromt the album can go that far katy could do it. without a re release I'm pretty sure "Cheers" could totally go number 1 sometime this summer if she releases it as the 5th single

Based on today's pop bars, I'm guessing Glee will match its records for both most T40's for one ep (4) with the S2 premiere and most T20's for one ep (2) with the first Gwyneth ep.

So glad GaGa will have a #2 peak on Hot 100 Airplay! That's so awesome! This is one of her best rankings so far on this chart!

Damn if Lady GaGa hovers at that airplay for a little bit and Cee Lo drops, she could get the #1 in airplay...

I wonder if the physical cd release of Born This Way will have a major effect. Will it help to keep GaGa at #1 for a 6th week?

Physical single sales are so sparatic these days, and with GaGa ahead in airplay a lot...that little amount could push her over the edge.

Grenade is dropping like a rock. It loses 2mil everyday :o I can see Grenade drops below JTWYA in a few weeks.
(of course it will stabilise at some point, so it won't happen)

It would be hard to believe that a song that spent 5 weeks at #1 on the hot 100 (or possibly six) never topped the airplay chart. Has that ever happened before?

JTWYA had the year end countdowns that kept it going and such, but hopefully Grenade will keep gaining on AC and Hot AC and stabilize like JTWYA has...

Elton John - "Candle in the Wind/Something About the Way You Look Tonight" There are many instances of this happening.
