Okay. My take on the video:
Before I watched, I was really nervous because everyone was saying that it was dull. My opinion? Y'all couldn't be more off base.
This video, artistically, is FLAWLESS. The multiple camera shots for each scene, the combination of their attire and the desert colors, the sun rays/sunset perfectly aligned with the two at all times, the wardrobes (mainly for Carrie), and the piecing and editing of the video in general are all immaculate beyond words.
To those who expected extreme romance: they're both happily married, and the best of friends at that. If you thought they were gonna be rubbing up on each other, grinding, or kissing, then y'all really probably got your hopes crushed. Did I want something along the lines of civilized romance? Yes. Did I get it? No, but I got something equally as good, which was passion and intensity in the mood. This video was NOT meant to be theatrical, so I don't know why people are complaining about it. It's meant to be symbolic, and it is just that. The barren desert shows the abandoned and dried-up relationship, and them closing in on each other shows them trying to rekindle the flame they once had by shouting memories across the desert. Basically, as they close in, they relive time and memories, which brings them to the point they're at now, which is a relationship of lost hope and unmatched wants and needs in love, lust, etc.
So, all in all, this video gets an A from me.

Video is quite simple, but it works in combination with the song imo. They have great chemistry in the video. Love how the camera turns around them in the end and how you can see the sunset. It also helps that Carrie looks amazing in the video. And I love that gif of her legs.

Carrie's legs are truly the best in the business, FULLSTOP; however, the video itself more objectively was lifeless and left me wanting more. I wrote the same thing in the "Polling Booth' section of Pulse: I believe this video is a very poor utilization of two of the biggest superstars in country music today.

I swear she's always up to something. Get money, bitch.

Heck I am far from creative but as I listen to the song, I can come up with a concept!

They could have easily went with a literal interpretation of the lyrics, they chose to take a risk, which worked for the best, in my opinion.

Here is the vid for you non-Americans. Thank you, Vinman! You're a hero to the international Carrie fan community. I stitched the "V" on your cape myself.

It's a grower! The first time I watched, I was bored but fascinated by Carrie's beauty... The second time I started to see the symbolism of the desert and all that. Third time I realized it's artistic genius..
When you have some as gorgeous as Carrie Underwood, simple is really all you need.

Is the desert where the video was filmed the same desert where Shania filmed the video for "That Don't Impress Me Much"?

Is the desert where the video was filmed the same desert where Shania filmed the video for "That Don't Impress Me Much"? Sure, why not? They all look the same. Although, seriously, that would be cool to know.

I know I've posted this about a million times already but Carrie is such a knockout in this video. I would love a look like that for the upcoming album cover, y'know. Something mature & sexxxy, yet elegant. It would have gone gold by next week either way, TBH. Yeah, "Remind Me" was definitely going gold next week, with or without a video. 500k in two months w/ virtually no promo.

Will they still promote this come November? Will this have peaked before then? It's looking to peak sometime in mid-September. As for the second question - I doubt they'll be going out of there way to promote this. I mean Carrie & Brad are definitely performing "Remind Me" at the CMAs and there's bound to be some award buzz for it. But, I think that's probably going to be it. Still, 2x platinum looks like pretty much a done deal.

Carrie Underwood Is the Voice of Our GenerationBy Jason Scott, BLOGCRITICS.ORG Published 08:25 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 This is a pretty bold statement, but I asure you, there is a reasonable explanation. Over the past six years, since her win on American Idol Season 4, Carrie Underwood has gone from small town girl from Checotah, Oklahoma, to dazzling country superstar. She's crafted an impressive stack of #1 hits, garnered over 80 trophies, performed countless times on TV and radio shows, and has even managed to keep a squeaky clean rep. It is not exactly the awards that give her the title "voice of our generation," but rather her persona and impeccable talent. Even on Idol, she gave off a sense of humility that is only present in the great legends of country music. Hailing from a small town, she knows the importance of hard work, diligence, and all-around determination. I would not say that she is the greatest individual to ever grace the planet, but she comes pretty darn close. Every action she commits to comes from a place of heart. Every word she speaks is rooted in her very soul, and she is not afraid to be brutally honest when she needs to be. That is what an American Idol is all about. Next, if you take a look at any of her many live performances, you can feel the power and emotional punch she brings to the material. She interprets lyrics, melody, and phrasing in a way that is wholly unique to her. Many of her songs, such as "Jesus Take the Wheel," "Wasted," "So Small," and "Temporary Home" showcase her unmatched vocals perfectly. Each of these songs portrays a different side to her voice. Just when I think I've heard it all, she surprises me. Even on her current single with Brad Paisley, "Remind Me," she delves into quite different territory vocally. A smooth and serene quality drenches this track. That is what makes a great singer. What is also interesting about her is that she is not afraid to stay true to herself, spiritually. The tracks I mentioned above are, primarily, faith-based. While I may not be religious, I still find myself gripping towards hope and love with these songs. They prick something special in my heart. Music is supposed to move you, and needless to say, Carrie Underwood's intriguing musical repertoire and her charming personality have moved me far beyond comprehension. There, I said it! The voice of our generation, the leading female vocalist in Country music. LEGEND.
