I also agree with what that I don't want Carrie to try to please the critics. Fans come before critics. If the album is good enough, critics will hop on board. She just needs to choose great songs. Agree. I fear that all these talk about the next album being possibly critically-acclaimed just because Carrie is taking a big longer than usual.... it might be setting many up for disappointment. SH might not have been a 5-star album for many critics, but fans LOVED it!

She also blogged. I'm now pretty certain that we won't be getting the album til 2012. My guess is around March or so then she can start touring the the spring/summer. IIRC, she said she was going to starting touring more over that time instead of fall/winter anyways. I'm holding out hope that we could still get a lead single for the CMA's though....

so. a summary for those who aren't on the fc? In the thread she replied to, she basically said that she loves how we are all anticipating to hear new stuff from her, but she would never want to put an album out just to have a new one out there. She said so many people put albums out there that aren't their best and stay on a perma-tour just to keep their names "out there" and make cash. She said that after 3 albums she had to take a step back and ask herself why she was doing this, and that we will NOT be disappointed with the new album, and she will probably have to tour her face off next year. She just wants to get it right this time, for her and for us. :) In her blog, she said that she and Mike went to a wedding in Ottawa this weekend, and tomorrow and Wednesday she's writing with some great friends. Later in the week, she said she will be putting down some vocals on a very difficult song. She said the song isn't difficult because of the notes, but to see how she will do with it, and that she should be hearing some rough cuts of the other songs she cut vocals for earlier. So yeah, I'm predicting: her and Brad perform "Remind Me" at the CMAs, her lead single drops in January after the Holidays, and her album drops in March around her birthday, and the tour begins in June, the week after CMA Fest.

MTV News reviewed It Had To Be You. Nice, nice praise for Carrie! :) Carrie & Brad w/ some plaques: Looks like RM has been RIAA certified Platinum! 8 Platinum hits for Carrie, and her second this week! Very nice to see! And that blog made me beyond happy. I really don't mind waiting now because it's not like we're going to be lacking Carrie news and appearances. CMA promo will be starting this month (as we can already tell with CCUSA), and she's confirmed that she's already got half of an album complete, so I can't imagine the album being released any later than the first quarter of 2012. SO EXCITED! And so happy that she's really, truly taking her time with this. AND so happy that she'll be touring a lot! God, this will be such a great freaking era.

I'll have to remember to cap Lon Helton. It's been awhile since was hosting.
Here is closer look at Carrie during Brad's concert. So I guess it's safe to say he'll always end up starting form the left of stage to right.

Nice to hear her talking about not just milking it for cash. Honestly, I have felt that she's been doing more or less that since her SH success--not quite that vapid, but doing everything in a very paint-by-superstar-numbers kind of way that sacrificed showing her personality, artistry, and vocal/musical growth to the general public (i.e., not her fans that follow every interview and blog post). She has the talent to do something even bigger and better than what she's done, and she seems determined to not just rest on her laurels. Good for her. I'll be curious to see if it affects how I receive her material.

So glad to read that Carrie's trying to refocus and make an album at her own pace, one that she's really proud of and comfortable with. :)
It's good that she commented to address all the angst from impatient fans who wanted Carrie to rush the album out in Nov just to cash in on Holiday sales.

I'm so glad Carrie is taking her time with this new album. Carrie won't have to hear fans worried about songs that she is putting on this album and i will love it.

So proud of her... but if I don't get at least a single by CMAs, I'm gonna be pissed.

I'm happy she's taking her time.
Just a thought, but what if "Some Hearts" doesn't end up being Carrie's best seller? It would be almost impossible to do, but if she releases a masterpiece full of mega-hits... it's not completely out of the question for each single to sell 1-2 million albums... like what happened with SH. Just an optimistic thought, but I feel that if she'd ever have another career defining album, it'd be this one. With 3 under her belt, she's finally taking her time with an album, looking for perfect songs and not just fillers. We all know Carrie's taste, she has excellent taste in music. I trust her to make an EPIC album and cannot wait!!!!!
A single by CMAs would be great, but I feel the only way that would happen is if all the songs were chosen by then. Carrie has a thing about not having a theme... so I think she needs to know all the songs on her album before she releases a lead single to sort of represent them all. You know what I mean?
I do find it hard to believe that Carrie's label is giving her this much independence with the album. Usually albums have due dates; have all songs chosen by this date, have album artwork by this date, etc.... So either this is a sign that they really trust Carrie and her decisions, or they've moved on from having Carrie as their main "ambassador" to the label. It could also be that there is a date, but it's not until much later... We'll see. But I hope this album is EPIC!!!

I definitely think there will be a single by the CMA's, even if that's when she debuts it (like Brad did with "This Is Country Music" last year). Most superstars usually have 10-12 weeks between the lead single release and the album release, so if that lead single comes out in early November and smashes (like we all know it will), that would set them up perfectly for a late January/early February release of the album.
That would give Carrie still quite a bit of time between now and the CMA's to work on selecting songs, recording, and just finishing everything up. And everything doesn't have to be done when the first single comes out...if it were to debut at the CMA's, there's still plenty of time in November, December, and even early 2012 for them to get the finishing touches on the other stuff. She's already got the album a little over half done, so I don't see how they couldn't get a lead single out in about 8 weeks (around the CMA's).
The only way I don't think they would have it out is if, for some reason, Carrie wants even more time, or if they just can't decide on the single. But again, from now 'til early November is a good chunk of time to just get the lead single and a good chunk of the album done, and whatever they don't have done (aside from the lead single) they could just finish up between the release of the single and the release of the album, presumably in early 2012.

I dare to say that if Carrie never releases pop-ish country songs and send them to pop stations and get some international recognition, she will never outsell Some Hearts... even Taylor with Fearless being the huge monster that it was, couldn't pass Some Hearts (in the US)... it's different times and I think that Carrie will continue to sell between 2 and 3 million per album and that is still huge... I mean, where is Kenny, Keith or Rascal Flatts now in terms of sales?? Carrie is holding on stronger and better than most!!

Also, Carrie is listed as 'performer' on a non co-write over at HFA Online titled "Party Girl" written by Mike Elizondo, Ashley Gorley, & Luke Laird. This info is coming from someone over at MJ's Blog with ~sources. We can't actually access the entry ourselves being that it's for registered users only.

I really wanted her to work with Mike again, "Cowboy Casanova" was so interesting. So listed as a performer means they have recorded it correct?

So listed as a performer means they have recorded it correct? IDK the exact guidelines or anything but I'm pretty sure it means that the song has been cut in some capacity. In addition to "Party Girl", Carrie's listed as a 'performer' on four previously discovered co-writes: - "Heartbreak Boots"
- "Neverlasting Love"
- "Girls Like Us"
- "Do You Remember When"

lol, thats like shooting the moon! I know. Just some wishful thinking on my part. Hopefully, if they're not great/rehashes of UI and/or MS, they won't make the album.

C'mon, Carrie! If you're taking all this time to make this record the best possible, the least you can do is cut Kara off.
