I don't think Carrie's country superstar status is dependent on her releasing in Q4. It's not dependent... but it's an opportunity that I wouldn't want to miss. If you look at all of Carrie's albums and their sales; SH had two killer holiday sales years. The first year SH sold 1.5 million during the Holiday season in 2005, and then another 1 million the next year in 2006. CR in 2007 sold 1.7 million during the holiday season, and the next year 200,000. PO during the 2009 holiday season sold 1.2 million, and in 2010, 100,000. Of course there are other circumstances but there is no denying that holiday sales are huge, and I don't think Carrie should miss out on the opportunity of benefiting from the sales. That's all... It doesn't make her any less of a star, but selling big helps with things like awards, airplay, etc...

Carrie Underwood Gives Chicago Summer the Perfect EndingA little bit of a hymn. A line or two from a Beyoncé song. And 90 minutes of country music, all backed with a full band and a full orchestra. You'd have to be a steadfast singer to pull all that off. Really, you'd have to be Carrie Underwood.
At her show just north of Chicago on Sunday night (Sept. 4), Underwood knew exactly how much Carrie Underwood to bring. She exposed her most affable side, told self-deprecating stories and wove 17 of her own songs into one of her most sincere concerts yet.

I feel as if it wasn't submitted. It would have surely got at least a Vocal Event nomination if it were. Agreed, but there is always that off chance that it was submitted and the CMAs decided to be their stupid selves and overlooked it. Remember -- Carrie got two nominations in 2010 after, arguably, the largest year of her career, and neither of which were an EOTY nod. I'm still going with the theory that Arista is holding it off until next year, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if the CMAs just bypassed the song.

Do you know what the date of release cutoff is ? Regardless, the CMAs are just cookey as evidence by it's "New Artist" nominations..... I am also of the school of thought that the label did not submit 'Remind Me' perhaps because it thought that 'Old Alabama' had a higher chance of winning an award. It is such a shame because if 'You and Tequila' and 'Don't You Wanna Stay' were nominated, 'Remind Me' should have been.

I know that neally didn't shade "You and Tequila," so I'm gonna ignore that.
I was very surprised to not see "Remind Me" in the vocal event category. It must not have been sent in. It probably would have taken the spot of the Miranda/Loretta/Sheryl collaboration had it been submitted.

I've been championing "You and Tequila" for the better part of a year now. Since this a Carrie thread and not a Kenny, Grace, CMA, or a thread for my random thoughts, I think that it's best that I don't get into why I think it's one of the best singles of the past year. No offense done, of course. I had to give you a little bit of a hard time about it though.

I'm positive they must not have submitted RM this year. I just can't imagine it not even getting a Musical Event nomination if it had been. What is likely is that Sony decided to submit Old Alabama this year instead, and will submit Remind Me next year. Hopefully RM will not lose too much momentum by then.

I'm in complete agreement and we share the same worries. Maybe how much recurrent airplay "Remind Me" gets will give us an idea of the mark it actually left.

That's my main concern. The song may not be relevant enough to stick around with the newer collaborations that come up in 2012.

That's my main concern. The song may not be relevant enough to stick around with the newer collaborations that come up in 2012. I think it will be just fine. "If I Die Young" and "As She's Walking Away", 2 summer releases from last year, both got a lot of nominations at the upcoming CMA's, and I think both songs are fresh in the minds of voters/fans. "Remind Me" is likely to dominate at the 2012 ACM's (though "Don't You Wanna Stay" will still be eligible and thus almost certainly nominated--ZBB's "As She's Walking Away" won Vocal Event at this year's ACM's), and I'm certain it didn't get submitted this year, since this is the only shot for "Old Alabama". So I'm confident that "Remind Me" will be nominated for the 2012 CMA's. I know the CMA people can be kinda psycho/crazy on who/what gets nominated, but there's no way they would leave out "Remind Me" if it were submitted. The song should at least get a performance this year...just like "Don't You Wanna Stay" did last year (it made its live debut there) and it's still nominated this year. It peaked in late winter, but still...just 'cause "Remind Me" peaked in August/September 2011 doesn't mean voters/fans will forget about it a year from now.

I wish pop remixes had no factor in country award shows. I don't see why they should. Remind Me is a fabulously-written song sung by two of the biggest superstars in the format. Just because neither of them remix their songs for crossover success shouldn't mean the song gets forgotten a year from now. It went to #1 in 15 weeks with little to no promotion other than a music video. It will be hitting platinum status in sales this month. And it has yet to get a live performance, so there's still buzz to be had.
I don't think the fact that RM "only" got one week at #1 should be a big factor either. There are other factors that go into how many weeks at #1 a song gets, and often it has little to do with the quality or popularity of the song, but instead has more to do with the power of the songs around it. It's all about timing.
I think "Remind Me" should definitely be remembered by next year's CMAs, regardless of crossover success, and regardless of the number of weeks at #1.
Though, I do agree with you, leilamaurizia, on the wasted promotional opportunities. I'm really not sure why, but it seems as though "Remind Me" has gotten little to no attention/support/promotion from the label. I guess maybe they figured since it was going to #1 anyway, why bother? But still, it could've been even bigger if it had gotten just a little bit of label support.
Edit: Uhhh. I guess the post I was replying to has been deleted...

*****QUESTIONS*******
1. Is life fair?
No but if you work hard and your Heart is in the right place the good will outweigh the bad....
2. Why has Carrie never been nominated for CMA EOTY?
See the answer to #1
3. Does Carrie wonder why she hasn't been nominated?
People that say NO are not being realistic... Of course she does but instead of letting it drag her down she uses it as a motivating factor to get better!!!! Just look how much her last tour was better then the previous one... Can you imagine what the next one will be like!!!
4.Why doesn't the label promote Carrie more?
Simple because they don't have to..... Carrie will be an iconic superstar no matter what they do now...
5. Will the label ever back Carrie again?
When they think it can make them more money.... The key I believe is for Carrie to record a great album...,
5.Will Carrie win more awards?
Yes but Carrie is and has always been held to a higher standard then everyone else.... So it will take a few years to get the voters back on her side... But Carrie is very competitive and because of that I would like to say THANK YOU to all the CMA voters because all your doing is making our girl bettter and better.......
6.Why did you make this list?
Because lists make me feel better Plus it always fun to be able to answer your own questions Enjoy the ride folks it's only gonna get better and better

Why did I just finally understand what Carrie meant when she sings 'when a sailing ship don't need her moon?' in "Someday When I Stop Loving You" SMH. It just clicked as I was listening today.
Oh, and I think 'Whenever You Remember' is my new favorite Carrie track. Had it on repeat all morning.

Wow! Sounds like FVOTY to me. That little evil voice in the back of my head kinda thinks those who vote for someone else should at least have an irritating rash for a couple of hours. ;) jk

Damn! That duet is amazeballs. Carrie's vocals...There are no words.
Unrelated, kinda, but it applies: I wish that the ACM and CMA would change the name of Female/Male Vocalist of the Year to Female/Male Artist of the Year. That's what it really is. Having the word vocalist in it makes some think that it's all about the voices. Country music has never been just about voices; it's been about the lyrics and the stories behind them.
