I just don't think they'll be ready for the CMAs, I feel like they would already be using that as hype to attract viewers if she was to perform one.

No way we're getting a new single on the CMAs.Carrie said the FC last night they haven't even decided on a lead single. There's one she wants but so far no meetings to discuss it. I can't see us getting a one till late January at the earliest.

If they're still not set on the lead single, I would put my money on NOT seeing her debut it at the CMAs. Like I've been saying, I think it will be released in January, after the Holidays.

Unless, Arista has been been working behind the scenes to arrange this, I also highly doubt they would in any way rush release a single without the large-scale media blitz appropriate for one of their best commercially successful artists.

Like most of these recent posts, I think the lead single will be released in mid-January with the album coming out in the middle of March at the earliest (March 20, perhaps). I really hope she brings it this time; I know she can.

I guess promoting a new cd that you are very proud of is a pretty nice way to spend your birthday. I don't know what day March 10 falls on and if it's a rule that cds are released on a certain day of the week(Tuesday, right?) Looking foward to it no matter when it's released.

Maybe they could digitally release the single shortly after Christmas, all those iTunes gift cards people would have would make for a nice digital debut.

To sell it they could also tie a Christmas deal with it... Like, "purchase the single and get a free download of Christmas songs recorded by Carrie - an EP of her five songs." For most fans it wouldn't be anything but a nice bonus, although most already have the 5 Christmas songs she recorded. It would still, however, give incentive to non-fans to buy the song as they'd be getting 6 songs for the price of one.
Just an idea to propel sales.
It's not like you can just go out and buy Carrie's Christmas music anyway as it was only sold with CR. So it would be another chance to get her Christmas songs, and the first opportunity digitally. I think it would sell because, really, only the fans knew about the Christmas edition of CR. Sales didn't go through the roof when it was released, so I assume there are still thousands of people out there who would be turned on to the fact that they could get Carrie's Christmas music through the purchase of one single.
I honestly think it would work great. You're only gaining 5 extra songs for the price of one, and really, you're losing nothing. It would be a huge selling point to include 5 Christmas songs with the December release of the single.

I don't know how I feel about a December release of the lead single. That's when a lot of stations are spinning Christmas music. If it comes out in December, I would hope they digitally release it after Christmas, so Tuesday, December 27 would be good.

Underwood's to-date U.S. album sales of 12,394,000 place her ahead of Kelly Clarkson (10,702,000) for the title of best-selling "Idol" graduate. Clarkson can close the gap with Monday's release of her fifth album, "Stronger." Here is a recap of how Underwood's three albums have sold so far: 7,133,000, "Some Hearts" 3,217,000, "Carnival Ride" 2,041,000, "Play On" ... and her top-selling digital tracks, which comprise her 14 top 10s on Country Songs, as well as her "Idol" coronation song "Inside Your Heaven" (which, while a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 in 2005 on the strength of sales, merely dented Country Songs, reaching No. 52, before she became established as a country artist): 3,314,000, "Before He Cheats" 1,897,000, "Jesus, Take the Wheel" 1,697,000, "Cowboy Casanova" 1,429,000, "All-American Girl" 1,202,000, "Undo It" 1,078,000, "Last Name" 1,069,000, "Remind Me" ( Brad Paisley featuring Underwood) 1,011,000, "Just a Dream" 962,000, "So Small" 891,000, "I Told You So" 777,000, "Temporary Home" 705,000, "Wasted" 442,000, "Mama's Song" 403,000, "Don't Forget to Remember Me" Next up for Underwood? Working on her fourth album and co-hosting the Country Music Assn. Awards Nov. 9 with reigning Entertainer of the Year winner Paisley. "I've recorded vocals (for) six songs," she told Billboard.com last month. "It's all about just making the best album that I possibly can. New songs are coming in all the time. I've recently written some stuff I'm really, really excited about." Carrie's Care Bears will also surely like the ballad "Eighteen Inches" on Lauren Alaina's debut album, "Wildflower." Underwood co-wrote the potential single choice. (The set's new release, following the No. 36-peaking "Like My Mother Does," is the uptempo "Georgia Peaches," while "The Middle" also sounds like a future country hit). The pair has developed a bond, with Alaina recently reaching out to Underwood for encouragement when she felt homesick. "I just said, 'How do you deal with being away from your family for so long and just being gone all the time?'," Alaina said, according to an AP report (featuring analysis from Billboard associate director of charts/retail Keith Caulfield!) "And (Underwood) said, 'You have to think about all the positive stuff that's going on, because you have so much going for you right now. Your family will always be there.' "Just hearing that from her, knowing that she had been through what I'm going through, just made me feel 10 times better," Alaina said. "(Alaina) is a breath of fresh air in country music today," Underwood responded about her fan-turned-friend. "I can't wait to see what she'll do in the future." www.billboard.com/column/chartbeat/ask-billboard-idol-izing-carrie-underwood-1005430162.story#/column/chartbeat/ask-billboard-idol-izing-carrie-underwood-1005430162.story

So Small is looking pretty Platinum-bound. 10 Platinum singles, and 4 from one album? Legendarrie. And I can't believe that one album has been out for 4 years now. It's one of the most commonly-revisited sets for me on a daily basis. Thank you, my lovely Carrie Reading that entire article is just fantastic. I love it! Thanks, neally!

"Don't Forget To Remember Me" is one of my favorite songs from Carrie ever, I would have thought it would have at least been gold by now, seems like so long ago...
Never hear that one on the radio anymore, haven't in years. I feel like as far as recurrent airplay I either hear: JTTW or UI the most. Then BHC, LN, CC, or AAG. Very rarely do I hear JAD, ITYS, MS, or Wasted. I never hear SS or DFTRM.
Sorry this was random, I'd be interested in seeing sort of a cumulative look at Carrie's recurrent airplay for all her songs if anyone can point me to that.
Also, does anyone know Carrie's maybe top-3 best selling album filler songs? (Not songs from other projects i.e. "I'll Stand By You" or "There's A Place For Us") Ex: "I Know You Won't" or "What Can I Say".

Just A Dream and Wasted are played a lot on my local Country station. However, BHC, JTTW, UI, CC, and AAG are the most commonly played ones.
As for best-selling album tracks? I'm just spitballing, but I'd assume Songs Like This and Change are pretty high up on that list.

It would be interesting to see a list of Carrie's digital sales for every song she's recorded (not just singles).

Anyone else is constantly amazed at how consistent the airplay for Before He Cheats is? Such a monster of a song!

I am even more amazed at the consistent sales for Before He Cheats. It's 6 years later and it's still selling at a rate of 150,000 to 200,000 per year.

Both the sales and airplay of BHC really do amaze me. I beat this horse to death all the time but I'm still shocked "Cowboy Casanova" didn't smash at Pop. I just wonder if they promoted it, how "Play On" would have sold in the end. I know a lot of people hate this conversation, but just a thought I can't help but think.

I tried my hardest to get z100 to play the song, but they just wouldn't. I requested on their website all the time, called in and requested it, even e-mailed the program director. I got through to the station a few times when I called. One of the times, they made it seem like they were going to play it, but they edited out my request on the air, and played Taylor's "You Belong With Me" instead. -___- The second time, I spoke to one of the DJ and he admitted he loved the song, but told me they were waiting for a pop mix before they would spin it, which obviously never happened and I wasn't expecting it to either. Even if Carrie doesn't want to do a pop mix of her songs, I don't understand why the label couldn't take songs like Cowboy Casanova and Undo It and at least give them an adds date at CHR, Hot AC, etc. It couldn't hurt to try, but I guess Carrie just doesn't want anything to do with the mainstream pop scene. That said, if CC and UI would have both been crossover hits on CHR, Hot AC, and AC, I think the album could've been 4x Platinum by now.

Carrie responded to a question over at the FC regarding the upcoming album title.
There's nothing set in stone but she's got something in mind, it'll be 'short & sweet'.
