I knew about the performance, but it was already doing well at that point. Wasn't sure about the video premiere.
Thanks.

I think the video premiered the week it was released to iTunes, which is why it debuted at no. 9 and was so strong out of the gate.

Press Release:
KATY PERRY SETS HISTORIC RADIO PLAY RECORD WITH “E.T.” SINGER HOLDS TOP FOUR SPOTS FOR MOST POPULAR SONG SPINS IN HISTORY (May 9, 2011—New York, NY) Global pop superstar Katy Perry’s fourth single from her Grammy nominated album, Teenage Dream, has broken yet another record. “E.T.” featuring Kanye West notched 12,330 radio plays in one week marking the highest number of plays in a single week in the history of the Nielsen BDS mainstream top 40 survey.
Recently, Katy surpassed her own record, set with “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg, which recorded 12,159 in July of 2010, and she currently holds the top four spots on the Pop Songs play sums chart with her first four singles off of her sophomore full-length, released last year on Capitol Records. “E.T.” holds the top spot followed by “California Gurls,” “Firework” and “Teenage Dream.” With the success of “E.T.”, Katy is also the first female artist in over 20 years to score four No. 1 singles from the same album on Billboard’s Hot 100 as Teenage Dream stands as only the ninth album to log at least four No. 1s since the chart's launch the week of Aug. 4, 1958. The singer’s next single from Teenage Dream will be “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”.
Katy recently performed “E.T.” with Kanye West on American Idol and she also appears on the cover of the June issue of Vanity Fair, shot by Annie Leibovitz in Paris earlier this year. She has been touring internationally since early 2011, making stops across Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, and will kick-off an extensive 60-city North American run on June 7th touring through mid-September.

Funny how Lady Gaga & Ke$ha 'made history' 16 months ago and they're no longer in the top 10. This record gets broken every other month.

But am I surprised that it did, given the circumstances and promo? Absolutely not. Even though you were aware of the circumstances and promo you still said it wouldn't crack the airplay 100, so you should be surprised that it's #5 now...

^^ Judge me if you will but I actually thought "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" was not a bad song. What really crippled Paula was that while she was an affable judge on AI, her last hits were early 90s. New Jack Swing was far past its prime by the time AI became the number one show in America and her fanbase had largely defected after her absence from music for so many years. J.Lo remained commercially successful until 2003 and had a hit with LL Cool J in 2006, so her fanbase, while thinner than it was during her peak, has somewhat remained in tact. This made her comeback not as unlikely as Abdul, but we'll see how successful her album performs this week. i thought DLTNT was a really good song too! Im just here..was alright as well i didnt think the material was the problem for her

As soon as "On the Floor" hit iTunes, it received several mentions on Idol prior to the video premiere. From the start of the live shows, there have been Jennifer Lopez plugs all over the place, whether in regards to the single or People magazine's "Most Beautiful" proclamation. :)
And, no, I never said it would not crack the airplay top 100. When it was making its good gains, I said it looked like a top 20, but that top 10 may have been out of reach. But, alas, radio kept adding it and playing it.
In any event, none of this really means much as to Ms. Lopez's appeal at radio with a Jenny-From-the-Block-only single.

What # did "The Time" peak on Radio Songs (and mediabase if it was any different)?

It leak on hot 100 at 3...will peak at pop radio at 3 would have been great across the board but #4 is great. Now I wonder if this thing can manage a 100m audience when it peaks. That would be amazing.

"E.T." is an AC song? AC's standards are just all over the place. How many spins does anyone need to make the AC chart. I mean seriously. To make the AC chart you just need a current song & only need a couple of spins to chart.

"E.T." is an AC song? AC's standards are just all over the place. They just don't have a genre that represents them anymore, nor artists catering specifically to them. They should honestly stick to recurrents and a top 20 of new songs imo.
