Your right James. He got 4 more adds today and it moved back to 17 on Mediabase with alot more spins. It looks like it may move back to 19 on Billboard. So with 4 songs dropping out in the next week or so it should move up again. Actually out of the 135 monitered stations, only 8 are still holding out...http://addboard.mediabase.com/StationsNotAdded.asp?AddFormat=C1 So thats not bad, hopefully the slackers will get on board if it gets into the top 15, lol! I'm just shocked WPAW in Greensboro is one of them. All the other competitors in his homestate are playing the heck out of this song, even their own competition WTQR in town!

Haha, I've never been called that one before on here lol I saw the 4 adds though. Most songs in the high teens are generally added on about the same amount of stations that Scotty is. I believe Keith Urban is up to 131 now, and George is up to 132...Toby is right in the same range at 130. Billy Currington picked up 3 adds to complete the panel this week. Rodney is on 129 stations. Eli Young Band is also in there at 129. I'm not sure Scotty will make the top 10 and I do agree that the chart slowdown hurt him a bit, but it was the same for everyone else. And songs in that 14-19 range are gonna be just packed close together. George and Toby, the veterans, trying to move up...Rodney Atkins trying to return to his "glory" days from a few years ago, Billy Currington the emerging star, Eli Young Band with their quickest climbing song to date...and now Keith Urban is coming up from behind. He's probably the only other song from below Scotty that will pass ILYTB in the coming weeks, so if a few spots keep opening up from up above, Scotty should probably slide up a spot or two here and there. I do think he'll probably have to settle in behind Billy/George/Toby/Rodney/Keith, but we'll see...

Remember that Stark Country article a few months ago bashing Scotty while he was still on Idol quoting Station Managers and DJs who said they wouldn't even give him a chance? Well 2 of these stations kept their word so far!
WCTQ Sarasota, Fla., PD Tim Jones says, “We already have Josh Turner. Don’t need another one. Take him to another format.”
The Des Moines station said..."KJJY Des Moines, Iowa, MD Eddie Hatfield agrees. “Lauren has a shot if she’s handled correctly. People seem to like her. There will be a curiosity factor on Scotty’s first single. If it isn’t great, that will be it for him."
So 2 of the 8 stations not adding him had it out for him from the beginning! Wow! Talk about unfair business practice!
In other news I heard that he will move from 20 to 18 with a bullet on Billboard! Nice!
Sorry about the James, lol, I work with a J. Homes and his name is James and everytime I see your name on here I think of him. Ha I didn't even realize I typed that til you pointed it out!

This is the kind of thing that turns me off of mainstream radio. Some station employee shouldn't be able to dictate the career of an up and coming Artist or any Artist for that matter by not playing a song just because it's what they want to do. The listening audience should dictate what gets played on Radio.

Haha it just made me laugh so I was just teasing, lol Usually I get called Jholmes but I'll take whatever, lol. Thanks for posting that stuff from the Stark column. I live about 30 miles from Des Moines and KJJY is one of the stations I listen to. However, my primary station is KHKI from Des Moines, as it's MUCH better. It's a bummer, too, because KJJY is the stations that's on both the Billboard and Mediabase panels, while KHKI is on only the Mediabase panel...it should be the other way around, because KHKI plays MUCH more new music than KJJY, and better music too. So I don't listen to KJJY often enough to know that they haven't been playing Scotty. I hear him on KHKI--he's probably at least getting 10-15 spins a week there, I'd guess, and they usually do listen to the listener feedback as well as keep an eye on the charts. I enjoy that station a lot. At #18 after tonight's chart, next week might be another slow week for some songs. Justin Moore is unlikely to fall hard enough to go recurrent, Luke Bryan isn't done yet, and Blake Shelton is still falling quite slow. Scotty should remain ahead of Keith Urban and the Eli Young Band, but if he is to move up from #18, he'll have to track down someone like Rodney Atkins and I can't see that happening. He might have to hold put and just be patient.

That is unless their audience wants to hear it and they still refuse. I bet if you called up country music fans from that area and tested the song, it would get a similar reaction. That being said, if they don't like him for this song then, fine, don't play it. But if the next single zooms up the charts and they're the only stations not playing it, they're not doing their jobs, which is to play popular songs for their audience to hear. And, if they're in markets with more than one station, they'll likely lose audiences to the other station over such a flap.

You're right, it isn't fair, but this being America, a program director has the right NOT to play a certain song and/or artist. It isn't like someone is pointing a gun or a knife to the p.d. and forcing them to play a record. Look at the latest by Shania Twain and even Reba McEntire's last song. Those two should be in the top 20 by now.

I also agree that Reba and Shania songs should be Top 20 or at least higher than they are by now. But that is partially do to their age, which IMO is as stupid as not playing a song because stubborn pride of not liking someone on Idol (for whatever reason).

We'll just have to see if they play Scotty when he uses his very interesting voice on a song that isn't completely bland, as this one is.
Thanks rsmatto, good points. Good posts.

This song is still hanging in there going between 17 and 18. Its not really losing or gaining spins, been holding steady like this for the last 4-5 weeks. Hopefully it can gain a few more spots ahead but the top 20 has been such a fierce competiton this Summer with nothing really moving, unreal! I saw him live this week in Charlotte and he commands the concert stage like a veteran, nothing like his early Idol performances when he was just learning. Tonight he's in Nashville and alot of industry critics, insiders, etc may be there. It'll be interesting to see those reviews. He got great ones here in Charlotte and his hometown of Raleigh. The video should be out very soon and that may help the song bump up a few places.

The video should be out very soon and that may help the song bump up a few places. Agreed. I think it will get a second wind when that happens. Remind Me had started to slow down and become idle as it happened upon the Top 10 the past few weeks, but now, with the video out, it has resumed to gain swiftly once again. This song is still really young and had a fast climb starting out, so I see no reason why this can't wait out the logjam and get at least a Top 10 peak.

Scotty McCreery wows Nashville By Brian Mansfield, USA TODAY
Tonight's an important one for Scotty McCreery. He's not only performing for the 12,000 or people who bought tickets to the show, but he's also showing members of the country music industry and media how well he can hold a crowd. They're listening to how he sings, they're seeing what kind of presence he has, they're gauging his performance and his potential in a room where they've watched the biggest singers in the genre, from Garth Brooks to Taylor Swift. For better or worse, he'll have a reputation in the country music industry after tonight, and it'll be a hard one to shake. The significance of the show wasn't lost on Scotty this afternoon as he did a round of interviews.
Make no mistake: This is Scotty's audience. The people in the crowd may like other performers, they might cheer and scream for them, but the 17-year-old from North Carolina's the one that got them to the box office.
And he doesn't disappoint. The crowd is with him for every word, every gesture.
"What's going on, Music City?" he says after Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not? "Y'all were probably wondering if I was ever going to make it out here," he says, noting that he's been watching the show from beneath the bleachers the whole time.
Some of the audience sits for Scotty's single, I Love You This Big, but the rests between the lines are punctuated with the shouts of young girls. Scotty sounds like he's growing into the song, too. he hasn't always been spot-on singing this song, but this performance is one of the stronger ones I've heard from him.

Wonder what took so long? It can't be loaded with special effects. He's on tour w/ the idols so they had to work around that, I'm sure. And they may have held off on it until later so it can give the song a 2nd wind at radio.

They filmed the video before the tour started, in late June. The song has been stuck in the 17-18 range for a while so maybe they were waiting to give the song a boost.

Hopefully that'll boost the song at least into the 12-15 range. I'm not thinking it'll get higher than that cause Mercury is gonna need to move on by September at least with a new single to start the promo for the album if they want it out in Novemeber.

GAC cameras have been following Scotty since June in preparation for a new GAC special, Introducing: Scotty McCreery, which is set to premiere this fall. As a way of saying thank you to the fans for helping him win Season Ten of American Idol, Scotty wants them to be the first to receive the exclusive details of his much-anticipated album release. To receive the breaking news about his debut country album, fans should register at his official Web site, www.scottymccreery-official.com. “For this first album, we are definitely going to let the fans know first about all of the details coming out,” he says. “We want them to know just what’s happening with the album and when it’s coming out because they’re the ones who are going to buy the music and they’re the ones who have been following me through this Idol journey. “I’m really excited to let people hear what we’ve been working on and putting so much effort and energy and time into. It’s something that I’m really proud of. I can’t wait for them to hear it! Hopefully they’ll feel what I was feeling in the studio.” Starting today, Scotty’s site (www.scottymccreery-official.com) is offering an exclusive album pre-order package that includes Scotty’s full-length debut album, an 8x10 photo, a personalized poster and an instant download of his single “I Love You This Big,” as well as a chance to enter a sweepstakes for an ultimate CMA Awards experience that includes a meet-and-greet with Scotty. He recently shot his first country music video with director Shane Drake while in Los Angeles for rehearsals of the American Idols Live tour. “He was the guy who shot all of our music videos for the Ford commercials for American Idol,” Scotty says. “It was great because I already knew him and we had a good relationship.” The video was shot in an area called Angels Point. “The location for the shoot was really cool,” he says. “If you looked one way, you could see Dodger Stadium, and if you looked another way, you could see downtown L.A. “We found this park that had a little country feel to it and it all worked out,” he says. “If I hadn’t told you that, you would think we would have shot that in North Carolina. The music video has a summertime barbecue feel, like a July Fourth party with fireworks and hot dogs and families.” After the shoot ended, Scotty spent time with all of the video’s cast members of all ages. “They were there the whole day and helped me out in the video,” he says. “They’re going to be in my first video, so I thought it was important to thank them for being there.” In May, the Garner. N.C. native won Season Ten of American Idol, becoming the youngest male winner in the show’s nine-year history. A record-breaking 122.4 million votes were cast for Scotty and runner-up Lauren Alaina. The final show garnered 29.3 million viewers and 38.6 million people tuned in to see the winner’s name announced. A week later, he made country music history when his debut single, “I Love You This Big,” earned the highest debut for a new artist’s first single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart since at least 1984. The song, which hit the Top 20 in seven weeks, is one of the fastest-rising debut singles for a new country artist in history. He is currently featured on the American Idols Live Tour that runs through September. He will also perform on ABC’s Good Morning America on Aug. 12. Scotty sings with Josh Turner in the three-hour prime-time concert special, CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock, which airs on ABC on Sunday, Aug. 14, 8-11 p.m. ET. The show will also reveal a day in the life of Scotty as he experiences his first CMA Music Festival. www.scottymccreery-official.com/order/ I believe the item marked #1 on here is the album cover!

Is the album going to be self-titled?

Its just the first day, they will probably put more hard copys on sale. They probably just had a limited amount to await the response. I'd give it a few days. You could always go to your local CD store or Walmart to buy the actual CD on the day of release.
In Chart news he was 18 again in Billboard and 17 on Mediabase. With Chris Young and Jason Aldean soon to go recurrent could he move up to 15? Could happen!

I'll be pessimistic and say the following: Even though I do not predict chart movements, I will say the following will happen. Jason Aldean, Chris Young, and Blake Shelton (Honey Bee) will get one more week. Then positions #18-#20 will look like this: #18-Crazy Girl-Eli Young Band #19-I Love You This Big-Scotty McCreery #20-God Gave Me You-Blake Shelton Of course, I could be wrong and it all depends on what happens over the weekend. However, I do not see a three point jump for McCreery. Sorry!
