www.melodic.net/?page=news&id=18046Coldplay have announced they are to release a brand new single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' this Saturday (June 4). The band revealed the news on their official website Coldplay.com this morning (May 31) and have said they will be streaming the new track from Friday (June 3). They have also put up the single's lyrics and artwork. The announcement ends a week in which the band have posted two cryptic updates, which are now revealed to have been lyrics from the new single.

I'm super excited for this. I hope they can surpass what they accomplished on Viva.

Not gonna lie...that's a pretty fruity title for a song.

Not gonna lie...that's a pretty fruity title for a song. (insert generic Coldplay joke from a movie) Actually, the first thing I thought of when hearing this title is TLC's Waterfalls.

The lyrics make me think they're going for crossover with this. I have a feeling I'm either going to love it, or it's going to come across as trying too hard.

Eh. Lyrics actually don't really seem that inspired, but I'll have to hear the song to really fully form an opinion.

I like that line "I'd rather be a comma than a full stop.", but other than that the lyrics don't do much for me. Ditto on pen's comment though.

I have a feeling that this song won't help my cause at all in convincing my metalhead girlfriend that Coldplay doesn't suck. I hated the song "Viva La Vida", wasn't too fond of the album other than a few gems, and have a bad feeling that this is going to further their decline in my standings of all-time favorite bands. But as others have said, I'll wait until I hear the song on Saturday to judge.

You're making me such a sad panda, j. Haha I'm sorry. I just thought "Viva La Vida" was too fun and breezy and almost slightly clubby for my taste with that four-on-the-floor bass drum beat. I like them epic like "Spies", "Everything's Not Lost", "Politik", "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", "Amsterdam", "Square One", "White Shadows", "Violet Hill", etc. "Viva La Vida" the album and especially the song didn't bring that for me, and I'm worried the direction they're moving in won't bring me that same level of goosebumps as they've given me in the past.

Most of those songs are among my favorite Coldplay songs of the past but I also still loved Viva La Vida the album best of their discography. Don't really know what to tell ya on that.

Actually, I take it back. I do know what to tell you. I think the reason I love Viva La Vida the album so much is because it feels like the soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist. Every time I listen to it in my car or at the gym or anywhere, it feels like the most epic thing I could ever listen to. It's like a soundtrack for life.

Which is funny because Viva La Vida means "Long live the life"

Yes! Finally! I really wanted some new Coldplay. I'm digging the lyrics, the title of the song and the single's artwork. Only good presages...
By the way, I hope it's actually the lead single from their new album. I'll be disappointed if it's just a stand-alone tune.

Eh. Lyrics actually don't really seem that inspired, but I'll have to hear the song to really fully form an opinion. Yeah thats the thing with lyrics, I've been listening to a lot of Journey recently and although their lyrics are great, the way they're sang elevate them so much more. I had a wierd experience with "Viva La Vida" because I intially hated the singles that were released but then I grew to really dig them.

I'm very excited for this! I didn't like the album "Vida La Vida" as much as their past releases, but I still enjoyed it (and I loved the single VLV).

Title is a major letdown for me, but last time they led off with Violet Hill, so this might just be an introductory single

They should have stuck with "Violet Hill" a little bit longer before unveiling the massively huge "VLV". I feel like VH could have done more damage. Maybe it would have fared better as the follow-up single given it wouldn't have had it's run cut off about a month in.

pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=alternative&action=display&thread=106602Funny how I made a thread for this like a week ago. Artie replies, and it gets locked. I'm not bothered by it at all. I just want to know who made Artie the moderator? This has an interesting name. I'd hate to think we're looking at a ballad for a first single, but this could be the case. I love all Coldplay, but I liked that Violet Hill had some grit to start it off.
