The Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album I'm With You will be out August 30, as per their Facebook page. The album will once again be produced by Rick Rubin. I'm definitely looking forward to this. It feels like it's been so long since Stadium Arcadium. www.redhotchilipeppers.com/2011/06/05/new-album/

For Grammy eligiblity periods, last year was kind of tame as far as big names went for Rock & Alt but this year will have Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Strokes, Kings Of Leon, Radiohead, Foo Fighters & Coldplay...and then a lot of buzzier releases (Fleet Foxes).

God I'm so excited for this! Stadium Arcadium (both of the albums included) is one of my favorite albums.
Hope that this does well and has atleast one song that can get some CHR play!

Oh man. One of my favorite rock bands. It's weird - I didn't care at ALL for One Hot Minute and to be honest, I only liked the singles for By The Way and Californication but...let's be real, Stadium Arcadium was a masterpiece. I believe it was my #5 album its release year. I saw them tour for that album and there is a reason why they are still making records and selling platinum now. They have worked so hard and come so far. Scar Tissue is an amazing book, Anthony Kiedis has grown as a vocalist and the band, no matter whose in it, sounds hot.

200-225k for next week; Stadium Arcadium opened with 443k. To see "Walk" appearing primed to leapfrog "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" on the Alternative singles chart, in spite of this being the release week for "I'm With You".............just suggests a considerable chunk of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's fanbase is indifferent to a post-Frusciante era for the band. Neither condemning of it, nor passionate about what's to come. These sales figures are by no means poor, especially when considering "Dani California" got a lot more multi-format exposure...............but they seem to reflect that attitude too. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

First of all, thanks, Someguy, for creating this thread. Glad to see a discussion of a rock album on Pulse.
I'm wondering if the recent demise of alternative rock radio stations in New York and Chicago are partially the cause of the lower predicted opening for "I'm With You" than "Stadium Arcadium."

This is a pretty solid album, IMO. On par with By The Way for me.

This album is better than I was expecting at this stage of their career and without Frusciante, and it's every bit as good as Stadium Arcadium to say the least. They certainly have no shortage of Alternative hits on here. There are a handful of songs that are much more instant than "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie".

^That's good to hear. I'm more about their singles usually.

Yeah. I am a huge fan of them and the new album. Josh is a suitable guitarist for them. While there is nothing as stunning as Wet Sand or Slow Cheetah, I am really impressed.

My three favorites on first listen were "Monarchy of Roses," "Look Around," and "Police Station". Coincidentally, those are also the 3 album tracks getting the most Alternative airplay.

I love the whole thing, but my favorites are Did I Let You Know, Police Station, Brendan's Death Song, Monarch of Roses, Meet Me At The Corner, and Happiness Loves Company. I honestly think all of them (except for "Corner") would be great as singles. I'm not really fond of "Look Around" or "Ethiopia" -- they're mediocre attempts at recreating former glory. Sometimes that works for them ("Can't Stop," "Tell Me Baby," etc), but I don't think it did at all on this one. Like By The Way, this CD is an immense grower, and the ballads and more experimental stuff are without a doubt the strong point.
I REALLY would love to see both "Police Station" and "Brendan's Death Song" released. In all honesty, I think they're their two most radio-friendly ballads since "Under The Bridge" and "Soul To Squeeze."

Finally got the album, and I love it. I think I like it even more than Stadium Arcadium (but probably less than Californication). These songs seem more immediate to me than some of their past albums. Initially, my favourites are "Rain Dance Maggie" (which was definitely a grower for me), "Monarchy Of Roses", "Factory Of Faith", "Brendan's Death Song", "Police Station" and "Did I Let You Know". With the right singles (and there are many good candidates to choose from), I could see this album's success and popularity lasting well into next summer and beyond (on Alt. radio at least).

I hope that this is a hit for them, so that they can pick some steam back up.

This album is so similar to their late 90's material, that's why I love it so much!
The singles should go:
01. Rain Dance Maggie 02. Monarchy Of Roses 03. Brendan's Death Song 04. Factory Of Faith 05. Look Around/Ethiopia

The album just passed 500K sold, as "Look Around" has become the third single.
They announced two Toronto shows, and tickets went on sale this morning. By the time I got home from work, both shows had sold out. Hopefully they'll announce a third show, or will come back here soon. They are one of the top artists that I want to see, but haven't had a chance to yet.
