when the album just came out last february it was their most downloaded song on itunes (the week of album release), their choice now makes sense

Think this can outpeak "Feed the Machine"? I think it can go at least Top 20.

Best possible choice My prediction is #12 on active and somewhere just inside the top #40 on alt.

I was waiting for this. I would've gone with Not Alone, but for another rock single, this is marvelous.

Sound choice. Their label doesn't seem to be interested in Active, though.
Peak prediction: #26

Agreed. Those were two of the worst single pickings I've ever seen.

Those were pretty awful and totally killed their momentum at radio.
Hopefully "Feed The Machine" and "Lie To Me (Denial)" will be the 1-2 combo that starts picking them up in the right direction again.
I thought 10 Years' choice to release "So Long, Goodbye" instead of "Russian Roulette" is the worst choice I've ever seen for one single, but Red's was an atrocity of a pair (not that they were bad songs, just the completely wrong choices). "Substitution" from Silversun Pickups was pretty devastating as well, but "Panic Switch" was huge enough that the quality of "The Royal We" was enough to bring them right back with a top 5.

Yeah, I'd agree with those other examples of bad picks. Another couple I can think of would be, Bullet for My Valentine Choosing "Waking the Demon" over "Hearts Burst in Fire." Also, Daughtry's selection of "Crashed" instead of "There and Back Again" had me scratching my head.

I agree with both of those as less than ideal picks though I was surprised at how badly both of those did. For me, the BFMV choice that was even worse was "Bittersweet Memories". I think "Fever" would have approached the top 10 had it immediately followed "Your Betrayal". Also, the new Evans Blue releasing "Sick Of It" as their first impression on the rock world when pretty much the entire album was better? That might be the worst.

The thing that was so bad about "Bittersweet Memories" was that "A Place Where You Belong" was so much better. That Evans Blue pick was pretty horrific, but they managed to salvage the era with "Erase My Scars," whereas the other examples proved to be fatal, especially for Daughtry.

The lack of promotion for a rock single from the Leave This Town era killed them on rock radio. Should've pushed "You Don't Belong" as the lead rock single straight away. Besides, RCA Records was and still is pretty fucked up when it comes to single choices and promo.

Yeah, but "There and Back Again" would have cemented their place on rock radio, which would have made it doubly difficult to ignore the next lead single. RCA probably took the performance of "Crashed" into consideration when they were marketing the band for the "Leave This Town" era.

"Erase My Scars" did sorta salvage the era, but compared to past success, they probably would have been hoping for a top 10 out of a lead single. Maybe with a new lead singer, that'd be asking too much, and "Erase My Scars" had very good longevity, but a mid-20s peak was far below expectations. I imagine had "Erase My Scars" been on the original album and released as the first single, they would have been able to at least come close to reaching the success of "The Pursuit" on active rock.

Going onto the bad single selections for a second again here. Breaking Benjamin choosing "Until the End" over "Dance with the Devil" was a rather strange one to me. I think "Dance with the Devil" could have hit #1.
Back to Red, it's now or never with this single. They can't do what Trapt did.

"End Of My Rope" went for adds. It doesn't seem like it did though based on how it's done. There's no way it should have bombed out as bad as it has unless Eleven Seven just doesn't give a shit.

Is Eleven seven the Label that Papa roach is on? Cause havn't they done quite well from it? Surely the label would push a similarish alt band like Trapt.

Top 50 on Active
52 48 RED Lie To Me (Denial) 133 105 28 0.208
I suspect thing single will be a flop which is a shame because I love this band and they deserve far more exposure then they get.
