American Top 40 - June 18, 2011

[Cerebro]

A little early, this week. I discovered earlier in the week that a station in Dubai that I knew aired the show on Fridays has a stream that I can record and timeshift (the show airs noon-4:00 PM local time = 4:00AM-8:00AM EST = really freaking early i.e. why I've never listened live).

Still a little behind, but, at least, this week's chart feels like it's moving, so I'll take it.

I've checked the AT40 archives with my recorded data, they're wrong. I do have the data to compile Mediabase w/Recurrents back to August 2001 when Mediabase began, but like, I haven't compiled it.

Good chart this week. Happy to see Adele at #1. I hated that fan story before 'E.T.,' I think it's just stupid to compare fans like that, and also, I know many people who are bigger fans of Gaga than him to Katy. I also liked that the second breakout was, again, in the 20-11 range.

Cerebro, by any chance would you be able to post a list of the longest runners on American Top 40 (maybe 40+ or 45+ weeks)? I'd like to be able to see where 'Dynamite' is at and what it has left to tackle, as at this stage, having moved 5 spots in the last thirteen weeks, I think it might make 60.

I'm not Cerebro, but if memory serves, "Dynamite" will tie the AT40 record next week with 50 weeks and it will break the record the next week.

According to wikipedia...."Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down set a longevity record in 2004 for the CHR show by lasting 50 weeks before finally falling off. In 2006, "Scars" by Papa Roach would go on to tie the record.

Here's what I have since I started compiling a list the first weekend of Dec 09 using mediabase with recurrents (the chart is two to three weeks ahead of AT40...that's why dynamite shows 51 weeks)...Tik Tok and Bad Romance charted before Dec 09...but you can only add 4 weeks to Tik Tok (48) and 3 weeks to Bad Romance (43) as both songs debuted in Nov 09:

Yes, it's nice to see more movement this week. They played 4 songs, including the breakouts, that
haven't been played on AT 40 before. (#30, 40) All the droppers were less than 20 weeks on, so there are still a lot of really old songs.
"Where Them Girls At" sure has a similar title to 1999's "Where My Girls At" by 702. Speaking of similar there's a lot more on this week's chart. Don't Wanna Go Home is partly Day-O, The Banana Boat Song that was sung by Harry Belafonte, and it also samples Robin S.'s Show Me Love.
Also we have two Home songs(35,22), two "Hello" songs (38,25), two "Floor" (34,6), two "Tonight" (27,20), two "Beds" (40, breakout), two with "F**k"(21,16), and a whopping four songs that start with "The" (28,15,12,5).
The next- to-last segment was brought to me by at40.com . That's weird.
