Ashanti Appears on Law & Order SVU's 'Dissonant Voices'

Ashanti appeared as a reality singing competition judge on Wednesday night's episode of "Law & Order: SVU."

Joining "American Idol" winners Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks, Ashanti sat on the judging table of a fictional reality series titled "Diva."

Also featuring "X Factor USA" runner-up Carly Rose Sonenclar, the episode focused on a prominent vocal coach accused of child molestation.

...Ashanti showed off her acting chops last night as a guest star on NBC’s drama series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” In the episode, “Dissonant Voices,” a singing coach and popular TV personality is accused of sexual abuse by his students. Ashanti plays a celebrity judge alongside “American Idol” alums Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks on a singing competition called “American Diva.”



The singer is also set to star as a store consultant named Teanna in the Lifetime movie Christmas in the City, premiering Dec. 7 at 8 p.m on Lifetime.

In addition to acting, she is readying her Rick Ross-assisted single “I Got It” for release this month. A previous version with Future leaked in July.

The song will be featured on her upcoming album BraveHeart, due this winter.

Ashanti gets bossy with Rick Ross on her new single “I Got It.” The R&B songstress has revealed the artwork for the song, which hits iTunes on Tuesday, November 26. A previous version featuring Future leaked over the summer. It is set to appear on her upcoming album BraveHeart, due this winter.

On Friday, Ashanti was a guest on “Bethenny,” where she dished on keeping her relationships private and being single. “It’s a distraction,” the 33-year-old said of dating.

She also revealed what kind of men she is attracted to. “I like honest, sincere men. Men that are not cocky, but very confident,” said Ashanti.

In addition to music, she has been dabbling in acting. Following her appearance on “Law & Order: SVU,” she will star in the Lifetime movie Christmas in the City, premiering December 7 at 8 p.m.

Leona Lewis, Audra McDonald, Ashanti and Lauren Alaina (American Idol) have joined the line up for tonight's anticipated "Christmas In Rockefeller Center" special.

Centered around the lighting of the world's most famous Christmas tree, the live broadcast from Rockefeller Center(R) in New York City will air tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 4 (8-9 p.m. ET).

The star-studded holiday special is hosted by "Today" anchors Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales, and will feature performances from Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Goo Goo Dolls, Ariana Grande, Jewel, Leona Lewis, Audra McDonald and The Rockettes. McDonald also stars in "The Sound of Music Live!" on NBC, airing Dec. 5 (8-11p.m. ET).

Ashanti and Alaina will perform only in the 7-8 p.m. ET hour airing on select NBC stations.

The 81st annual holiday extravaganza will feature a 76-foot Norway Spruce that is 47 feet in diameter and weighs approximately 12 tons. The tree is estimated to be about 75 years old. More than 45,000 energy-efficient multi-colored LED lights will be strung to decorate the tree, topped with a 9 1/2 foot wide LED-lit Swarovski crystal star.

The tradition of the Rockefeller Christmas tree dates back to the Great Depression. First erected in 1933, the inaugural tree was decked with 700 lights and placed in front of the then eight-month-old RCA Building (the current GE Building). The Christmas tree gathering was enhanced in 1936 with the opening of the Rockefeller Plaza outdoor ice-skating pond. NBC-TV televised the tree lighting for the first time in 1951 on "The Kate Smith Show" and as part of the nationwide "Howdy Doody" television show from 1953-55.
