Ok but I don't get why everyone is getting so pressed over her pushing the date back a few weeks?
Like none of you are waiting with baited breath to pick up this album so why the meltdown over such a slight change?

And nobody's pressed, it's just literally annoying to see it pushed back every week for 2 years. Pretty much. I wouldn't call myself a hardcore fan of Ashanti but I am a fan and legally own all of her albums.I had this convo with a friend (who is a diehard) and I explained that basically the main frustration is that, despite a serious decline in album sales in general, Ashanti chose to bypass several major label offers that would've afforded her a bigger budget and access to better marketing/promo at least in favor of aligning with an indie label that does very little to help with promotion/marketing and has done nothing to further the careers of any of the established artists that have signed with them. True, she's had several "singles" released and, true, there are major label R&B acts struggling to crack six figures in sales. That said, the frustrating part about the push backs is that they continue to happen under the guise that the longer the wait, the better the setup and the more successful the launch of the project when in reality she's most likely going to sell the same amount of records and get the same amount of airplay that she would have had she dropped the album two years ago as originally planned. If she gets a top-20 Urban hit and sells over 150k in the end, I will be shocked. |

She needs to get a single out to RADIO. What's the video going to do if no one is playing her song?
Her team is so messy for this. Like she's released so many faux singles but how many of them have actually had an adds date? Does she expect radio to just pick them up and start playing them?

Album snippets are up.
After her debut and Concrete Rose, I'd say this is her best album.
"Count" is a pretty obvious ripoff of Birthday Cake but other than that, the songs are all pretty good.

So they pushed back this album for 2 years just to drop the album out of the blue and with no single serviced to radio? Absolutely pointless. She'll be lucky to sell 10k first week.
With that said...
The album sounds really solid. "Early In The Morning" was my favorite from the snippets.

Listened to it again and it's actually really solid. I REALLY wish she sent I Got It for adds on the 27th like she was supposed to.
The only thing that's annoying is that I know she recorded A LOT of material for this album but then the final product has like 4 or 5 songs that she's been sitting on for the last 2 years. Like they're good but it does make you wonder if it was worth the hold up when it seems like Early in the Morning, I Got It and My First Real Love are the only tracks that were recorded in 2013.
Also it's a shame that she wasted Never Should Have already. Who knows how the album could have done if she saved that for after I Got It did something at radio.

She's got enough of a fan base to sell 20-25k first week out but she's gonna struggle to sell six figures, especially if radio doesn't get behind any of her singles.
