That song is just not made for someone with Ashanti's voice to sing. It was ok but she's just always going to be flat at some parts and too breathy at others. The good parts were good though.

Runaway is the one song on the album I always skip. Ugh.

I like Runaway. Sounds like an old Mary J. Blige record. I don't know why she's performing these songs if that stupid French Montana collabo is the next single. "Scars" is the only song left that can be a hit.

Performance wise, she did a great job on GMA. She seems much more confident. Still, she needs to get a vocal coach, ASAP. She's been officially in the game almost 14 yrs now. She should be polished by now.
"Scars" should be her LAST single. It will live in the same vein as "Rain on Me." I hear "Early in the Morning" is going to be the newest single. It's popular on iTunes and Spotify so that seems logical although I prefer "Love Games."

I really hate that her album has the PARENTAL ADVISORY label, but most of it is censored.

I feel like she handles the Bey questions very maturely. It's kind of a rude question to ask since the point is essentially to be like "How do you feel that people thought you would be where she is right now" and she handles it both without coming off as bitter/resentful and without coming off like she doesn't value her own accomplishments and her own success.

Floyd got that now. She better take her ass to a major label now with all this attention.

I saw those pics on Instagram and all I could think of was how cool it would be to have a pool that overlooks the city lol.

I have been LOVING "I Got It" lately!! The song is so hot. Whoever mixed her vocals should be shot though. I had to listen to it like a thousand times to understand what the hell she's saying on it. She blends in with the instrumental.
And this is the best she's looked her entire career! She's HOT. I really like her interviews with this project too. I used to cringe when she spoke, but now she seems a lot more humble and easy to relate to. There's no reason she can't in the very least get a major distribution deal with the next album.

I completely agree! She really deserves to break out this time around. I just wonder if there's somewhat one of her singles could become a surprise/viral hit.

I saw a recent picture of her with Oprah in a backyard. Next Chapter would be a good look for her.

Ashanti Shamelessly Uses ALS Ice Bucket Challenge To Promote Her AlbumPosted by Jacques Peterson on 08/25/2014 at 12:33 AM News It’s been painfully clear for about a week now that most celebrities are just using the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to score points on social media and promote themselves, but most of them at least try to pretend that they’re doing it for charity. The latter can’t be said for R&B diva Ashanti, who was beyond shameless with her self-promotion in her ALS video. Firstly, the former hitmaker used the video to plug her new album by name-dropping the title and all the collaborators and guest features, and then she used the video’s description to share a link to buy the swimsuit she was wearing. Neither the video or the description included a call to action or anything about ALS at all. In fact, there wasn’t even any mention of anything charitable whatsoever — it was all about her album and swimsuit (which was absolutely hideous, by the way).

Ashanti mixes old school and new school at Chevy Court at the NYS Fair (review)By Chris Baker | cbaker@syracuse.com on August 24, 2014 at 4:32 PM, updated August 24, 2014 at 5:29 PM Ashanti strolled onstage at Chevy Court at the NYS Fair singing her 2001 hit "Always On Time." She was 35 minutes late. Chevy Court swelled with people right around 2 p.m. as the afternoon sun began to blaze. By the time Ashanti finally got onstage at 2:35 p.m., many had begun to stand on the bleachers, much to the chagrin of those who had camped out for spots in the shade. It was hot and crowded, but no one seemed to mind the long wait for one of the biggest R&B singers of the early 2000s. Ashanti's introduction came in the form of a self-promotional video, reminding everyone of her stats as a performer. It mentioned her Grammy wins. Her 10 million records sold. Her acting roles in such cinematic treasures as "Resident Evil" and "John Tucker Must Die." It even included interview clips from appearances on Letterman and Rachel Ray. And, though late, Ashanti gave an hourlong performance spanning all the seminal hits that launched her career. She also gave the audience a heavy dose of her new album, "Braveheart," her first studio output in six years. And while fans responded politely to new tunes like "Early In The Morning," it became clear that people showed up to hear the tried and true songs from early in her career. Those wouldn't come until the end. Throughout much of the show she called out to those in the audience who have endured struggles, fought through hardship and overcome sour relationships. And she emphatically boasted her own marital status. "I am very single right now," she said prior to giving a Marilyn Monroe-esque dance for a fan she had pulled up onstage, blindfolded and handcuffed. For the most part, the show was low-key, featuring slow jam R&B songs like "Rain On Me." For her part, Ashanti seemed a bit reserved and even self-conscious at times. She told the crowd how she just got back from a trip to China, how she's been on a steady regimen of Nyquil and Claritin and how she hoped she didn't sound "nasally." But her voice came off strong and sweet as it was when she first broke out in 2002. The show stumbled at times, like the long drawn-out process of bringing three male fans on stage for the "adult part of the show," as she called it. But Ashanti made sure the crowd felt loved. She ended with a bang, playing everything people came to hear: "Down 4 U," "What's Luv" and "Foolish." The most exciting portion of the relatively mellow afternoon came when she invited a throng of fans onstage at the close for an off-the-cuff dance party as her deejay bumped beats.

Damn, girl.
I wanna see the concert footage to se if she scooted her ass across the floor like a dog during I GOT IT. That was pretty cool the last time she did it.
