Britney was also at the peak of her career following two Diamond albums. Beyonce, not so much.

Without a hit single, this album is not going to have long term success Well Britney the album sold 4.3M with flop singles. Norah Jones sold 10M without a hit single at all.. or maybe that's reaching. Among other things.

Congrats Beyonce!!
Only 3k short of her DIL's debut of 316k in 2003. Definitely not the disaster most people were thinking.

Nice for Beyonce. If that holds, she comes in just shy of Dangerously In Love's opening.
Just a handful of copies separate Gaga and Scotty.

Really great numbers. It's also cute to see '4' and '21' next to each other at the top.

Queen B's opening sales show that she can command a certain level of sales, even without having a big hit single.

B's last album was a hit so it was probably guaranteed some level of success. If this album doesn't produce a hit, I don't see her selling nearly as much without a hit next album as this album that's for sure.

Well, yes, 2m- hence why I wrote "opening sales." Radio hits definitely would keep sales momentum going, but this album supposedly isn't as big on potential radio hits like the others, so we'll see how it plays out. "Best Thing I Never Had" is chugging along in sleeper style- we'll see if the video (when is it coming, anyhow?) has any impact on its continued airplay growth.

The point was, many were people were expecting her to flop miserably and open (keyword) w/ terrible numbers. "RTW only sold 77k first week so she won't be able to do much better than that first week". Doomsday prophecies of the like were running rampant and now are proven to be untrue. Of course some people will try and downplay any success the album achieves with 1 milllion and 1 excuses.

I'm pretty sure someone predicted 90k for Beyonce, lmao
I do think the only song that has radio potential in this album is Countdown. End of Time has no chance of doing damage on the radio, in the US at least

I guess it'll be up to Soundscan to determine whether 4 will pass DIL's opening and whether GaGa will maintain her position in the top 10 and not have Scotty edge her out.

If this album doesn't produce a hit, I don't see her selling nearly as much without a hit next album as this album that's for sure. True but she has the era on track now. BTINH is doing well and she still has EOT and Countdown as major releases and a handful of Urban/Rhy choices. I'm pretty sure someone predicted 90k for Beyonce, lmao I do think the only song that has radio potential in this album is Countdown. End of Time has no chance of doing damage on the radio, in the US at least Completely untrue tbh.

Bionci's 1st week numbers > Bionic's LT numbers. Such a slap in the face for all the haters who were calling this a flop.

Bionci outpacing them in a week and getting a higher first week than 99% of Pulse's faves. They tried tho.
