The headlines and buzz associated with a #1 is probably worth the loss of a few grand forfeited, yes. Try the record breaking 5 #1 Hot 100 hits from one album that has not been achieved by a female artist and only achieved by King MJ. So yeah, her team needs to get the eff on it. It's not like anyone else is going to achieve that feat anytime soon and this era has been too flawless for then to run out of gas at the 11th hour. I'm not even a stan and i'm about to catch feelings >:(

Could Katy slip to #4 soon?
It's possible, with Foster the People's PUK already up to #4 and thisclose to catching up with her.
In addition, Maroon 5's MLJ has gained new life at #5 and is rapidly moving back up the i-Tunes top 10 again.
Stay tuned.

Last Friday Night should be slipping to #5 soon, gap between it and Pumped Up Kicks is shrinking and is 1.5% apart now. It was around 4% 12 hours ago.

I'm very happy with Pumped Up Kicks success right now. Who would have thought this would be the breakout alternative song of the year

Moves Like Jagger is #2 now, with 90.2%, 'Lighters' is close by with 89.5% though. Katy has been pushed down to #5, she's at 77.7%, 'Pumped Up' is at 78.2%. Capitol really needs to strike soon.

Katy Perry's song has clearly peaked, #1 is not going to happen In sales, yes, it would seem it's peaked. Airplay still is growing like crazy. If they can spike sales somehow, they can get it. Moves Like Jagger is increasing like crazy on both fronts though, and I'm watching Maroon 5 perform on the Today show right now...

The performance on the Today Show really helped Maroon 5 and MLJ, it's still at #2 and gaining rapidly on LMFAO. Could it reach #1 again soon?
It's very possible.

Maroon 5's live performances of MLJ show that it didn't need a 1-minute cameo from anyone to sell. Not a big fan of the track myself, but it's faring pretty well.

They also performed it on America's Got Talent this week, too. I think that's probably bringing in more sales than the performance on Today.

^Her, or her label- it would have been highly shocking if they didn't try- it's obvious they're into charts streaks and all.

Every artist wants to be #1 no matter what they tell you. They are in the record business to sell.

The only think that shocks me is that it is not Rihanna or Britney. But, last minute quickie remixes that fans will mindlessly gobble up in one week to get a higher peak is pretty much the course now. I would expect them for a lot of singles pop artists release now.

Oh well another remix that would give us in this forum another endless debate if the song "cheated" its way to #1.
Anyway, wow at Moves Like Jagger! Could this help Hands All Over's sales in the long run?

Katy Perry Could Tie No. 1s Record With Missy Elliott 'Friday' Remix
Katy Perry is on the verge of tying an incredible Billboard Hot 100 chart record -- held by Michael Jackson -- thanks to some help from Missy Elliott.
Jackson owns the record for the most Hot 100 No. 1 singles from one album -- with five from his 1987 classic "Bad." Presently, Perry has four No. 1s from her "Teenage Dream" set. Its fifth single, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)," rests at No. 2 on the chart this week.
However, on Monday, Aug. 8, a new remix of "Friday" (featuring Missy Elliott) will hit radio airwaves, the web and digital retailers.
If the sales, airplay and streams of the track are strong enough, it could push the song to No. 1 in the coming weeks. (All versions of a song and its remixes are generally merged together for charting purposes.) Last week, it trailed the current Hot 100 No. 1, LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," by about 50,000 digital downloads on the Digital Songs chart. Over on the Radio Songs tally, "Friday" was behind "Party" by 2 million in audience points and had been the greatest gainer for the past three weeks.
This late-in-the-game remix-release strategy has become a popular concept in recent months. In April, Rihanna enlisted Britney Spears for a remix of the former's "S&M" that prompted its jump to No. 1. Shortly after, Spears turned to Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha to help out with a remix of her track, "Till the World Ends." Its release helped push the single 11-3 on the Hot 100.
But let's get back to Perry versus Jackson. Perry has so far claimed four No. 1s from "Teenage Dream" -- "California Gurls," the title track, "Firework" and "E.T." (featuring Kanye West). "Last Friday Night" is in its second week at No. 2 and its seventh frame in the top 10.
Jackson's five No. 1s from "Bad" are "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," the title track, "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Man in the Mirror" and "Dirty Diana." Some fans might have immediately thought "Thriller" held the record for the most No. 1s, since it was such a monster album. While it did spawn seven top 10 hits, only two of them -- "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" -- hit No. 1.

^Her, or her label- it would have been highly shocking if they didn't try- it's obvious they're into charts streaks and all. Isn't that the point? You can't tell me Madonna worked with Timberlake and Timbaland in 2008 because of anything other than wanting chart success? I'm not a fan of quickie remix's but since artists are doing it, I'm not gonna hate.
