I think Puth discounted his older songs too
Edit: no he didn't What is the reason for them being currently top 100?

May as well post the top 20. $0.69 should just be the standard price The problem here, though, is that sales wouldn't increase because of it. Sure, songs see surges in sales when they are discounted, but notice that those songs that are discounted either through their entire runs or for a longer time than a week or two, don't sell any more than the $1.29 songs. The sales spike comes from the discount, not the price, so to speak. Imagine this scenario: I go to iTunes and see a song I haven't seen before or know kinda sorta. I listen to the preview. Yeah, I kind of like it, but do I want to spend money on something I don't really care for or might be a grower? Nah. Then I see it's $0.69. Oh! It's on sale! Well, I better snatch it up now before it goes back to $1.29! Because I know I'll finally like it once it goes back to regular price. That's pretty much the reason songs see a huge spike when they are discounted. If they were always $0.69, people wouldn't be an enticed to purchase them because they're always $0.69. You don't feel like you're getting a deal anymore. This is a tactic used by retailers all over the globe. And because sales generally double for the discounted product for the week or two it's on sale, you're not losing money. However, consider kiiara's "Gold," which was $0.69 for pretty much its entire run. It didn't sell double of the other hits of its caliber. It's not really a sale anymore if it's always on sale. Those that really wanted it that bad already snatched it up within the first few weeks of its discount. This is also why old songs that are discounted for months on end aren't charting like "Me & U" or "Party in the U.S.A." are/were. So basically, the reason it's not is because you would lose roughly 50% of the already low profits digital sales currently dishes out. Now, a middle ground, like $0.99, would probably work. As long as $0.69 discounts were still a thing.

$0.69 songs rise because they're cheaper. If $0.69 became the standard price then nothing would get these massive jumps or you'd start seeing songs discounted even further ($0.49?)

Interesting that all of the 4th of July songs are discounted this year. I wonder if we'll see that become a trend around the time of holidays. Imagine "Thriller" or "All I Want for Christmas is You" getting discounts on the weeks of their respective holidays!

Why are there two versions of "Praying" though? They're both album versions and the song is not explicit.

(Not hating) is there a kesha single that flopped before Sleazy, C'Mon, Crazy Kids Sleazy wasn't a single. It got a very popular remix, sure, but it was never sent to radio, never got a video, and never received any real promo. I wouldn't really consider C'mon a flop. It did underperform, sure, but not a flop. Especially since it did better than Blah Blah Blah. I'll give you Crazy Kids, though, but there were a bunch of unfortunate circumstances that lead to that. :(

I didn't follow the charts then but I was obsessed with Crazy Kids. I was really sad to find out when I did start following the charts that it didn't do that well :(
