Exactly what is Ludacris the king of? I know, right! It only reaffirms my point that female artists need an assist from a man regardless. There isn't a single solo female track in Top 20 iTunes - NBTS and ancient BY are the closest. There is a either a lack of support for female solo records or no interest from general public. NBTS at least is at 17 on most recent Spotify chart. I pray that you’re being facetious.

I didn’t make up the facts. A solo female track has very slim prospects to make it big in current environment. There is only one reason to add someone like Ludacris - and that has to do with commercial viability. Unless Carrie loves him and wanted to do something him, it’s a bit of a insult to her.

I know Carries song was played a bunch during the Super Bowl, but was it ever mentioned by name? Justin surely should have gone #1 with some song from his performance especially bc he released his album this weekend. That ain't a good thing for him. Well, his show was spread out among several songs. Imagine if Carrie had 3 different Super Bowl themes; no one song would do as well as "TC" is doing. Regardless, it is still great "TC" is selling so well. Did Gaga or Bruno take over the top spots on iTunes after their halftime shows?

You most certainly didn’t make up facts; you made up some grade-A bull. :/ While last year was an absolute sausage fest on pop radio/on the Hot 100, it doesn’t take away from the fact that women had significantly huge hits, and made up a huge fraction of total breakout acts of 2017. Names coming to mind immediately include Cardi B, Halsey, SZA, Camila Cabello, and Dua Lipa. Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris continued to explode, we saw the huge resurgence of Kesha, Pink and Taylor Swift wiped the floor with most of their competition in album sales, Lady Gaga headlines the halftime show with 0 guest appearances, and Mariah Carey went Top 10 with “All I Want For Christmas is You” for the first time, 24 years after the song’s initial release in 1994. Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” didn’t hit #1 until he got Beyonce to guest on it as a recorded duet. The 59th GRAMMYs saw a battle between Adele and Beyonce. Alessia Cara had 4 consecutive solo hits prior to her Zedd collaboration. I’m really not sure why you think solo female tracks have very little chance to do well unless they have a man helping them out when...they continuously justify that men aren’t needed for shit in order for them to succeed. And lastly, Carrie Underwood is one of the last people on earth who needs a man to get her commercial viability.

Hope I don’t get attacked for this but I see where the poster is coming from when it comes to females having successful hit songs. Of the 20 best selling songs last year only three included female vocals & for album sales only two of the top 25 were female (excluding soundtracks from casts)
It’s not a talent problem. But right now charts wise females arent killing it.
And this is coming from someone who 90% of the money they invest on music is for female acts

I'm just shocked that we seem to think having Ludacris as a features credit in 2018 is a shining example of a female needing a man to score a hit.
It's Ludacris. The man hasn't scored a smash hit since 2010. In that same span, Carrie Underwood has scored several hits that sold very well and racked up plenty of hits with her male dominated home format.
If this was Katy Perry suddenly getting a smash with a Ed Sheeran feature, we might have a true discussion going on, but this just doesn't fit the narrative.

^just wanted to say I don’t find this to be a shining example. Carries insanely successful and has been her entire career. I understood what the poster was trying to say about how female songs have been doing over the past year, but I don’t think Ludacris is responsible for this specific songs success

Regardless, it is still great "TC" is selling so well. Did Gaga or Bruno take over the top spots on iTunes after their halftime shows? I honestly thought about where previous Super Bowl artists have ranked, but really don't wanna do the research. Because of two things: 1. Justin released an album the Friday of him appearing on the halftime show. No other artist has done that. I'm not sure where MDNA lies, but I thought it was just the single that was out. Or did it come out after? Either way his album projections have already gone down after this prime promo spot. Not a good sign. 2. Carrie's song hasn't been released to radio, hasn't it only been used by the NFL? I don't know. I do know it is being used for The Olympics as well, it never got true name recognition by title or artist. I heard it and figured it was the new song. She had no visibility to get it back to 1. One other thing, Justin got more promo after halftime with his appearances on Fallon which was highly hyped. He's obviously not resonating right now. He even performed 2 songs that have already topped iTunes if I'm not mistaken.

No, he's not resonating -- you're exactly right. Case in point, the strange little barnacle that is The Champion is still number one while only two of Justin's songs remain in the top 10. With a brand new album and a shit ton of promotion, AND the Super Bowl, he should be selling like hotcakes right now. Instead he's getting dragged all over social media.

I think much of the "backlash" wouldn't have happened if the album was on par with Justified or FutureSex/LoveSounds. Nothing on it sounds like an all-out smash like most of his previous singles were.
Filthy hasn't connected and Say Something, while looking promising, doesn't strike me as a #1 record.

I'm not trying to creep but I'm dying to know what those legs feel like. Moving on... I wonder how much Say Something's chart position has to do with the current immense popularity of Stapleton.

Any particular reason why GP is back at #1?
Also, why is Nicki Minaj's Super Bass so high on the video chart? If it's because she's been missing, why that video in particular?

The Super Bass thing is pretty weird. Then again the #1 video is probably selling 50 copies, so who knows...
Say Something down to #5. Filthy lost the discount and is down to #13 already. #bye

Any particular reason why GP is back at #1? Why wouldn't it be #1? It's still pretty new and is gaining in airplay. It was overtaken by new songs and songs with specific promo (like "The Champion" with the Super Bowl). Now things have evened out, and it makes sense to me it would be #1.

^ ok got it. I thought after its initial release it dropped to like #5 or something and then quickly went back up to #1 due to some promo or video release or something like that, but what you're saying makes sense.

What is causing the spike in Eminem/Sia "Guts Over Fear" on iTunes? It is #84 right now. The only thing I can think of, is maybe Olympics coverage?

Who? 1. Jon Langston - When It Comes to Loving You He's a country act, but not a well-known one and I have no idea why the song is selling so well.

Bebe Rexha is #1 as lead. iTunes is officially irrelevant. 2005-2018 RIP.

What's with Coldplay's O being top 25? Great track though. Did something happen at the Olympics?
Edit: And Paradise top 100.
Edit 2: Oh something happened at the Olympics. Kk.
