Can we cut out the Demi trolling so this thread stays open? While many of us may not like her, I urge you all to not continue the needless bickering and keep getting threads locked. The quality of Demi's music speaks for itself; no further comment is necessary, and there are 99 other songs in the top 100 to discuss.

Especially given that there is plenty of other movement worthy of pointing out further down the chart.

T-Pain's latest is one that particularly stands out. "Booty Wurk (One Cheek at a Time)" has moved up to #15 now. He's been struggling as of late to capitalize on his return back off of Pitbull's recent hit, and this appears to be his most successful latest attempt at another hit to finally get his latest album out of the woodwork.

I also find it interesting that, in spite of the mighty impressive streak at #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and a strong debut for his latest album "Red River Blue", "Honey Bee" has descended notably down the chart in spite of Shelton being a ubiquitous headline name this week. It was teetering around #15 for quite a while, and now it has moved down to #28. It's just fascinating to see this kind of drop happen in the same week a succeeding album is bowing. Usually you would expect a single to receive a boost. Definitely not the case here.

Colbie Caillat has a track standing out on the chart fresh off of the bowing of her latest album "All for You", and it's NOT "Brighter Than The Sun" either. "What If" is making an impressive showing at #39 presently. Whether this will translate into any radio clout remains to be seen, but Universal Republic must be relieved to see something is resonating that's not even a proper single to date, given neither of her two lead singles this album have caught on in any significant way.

Interesting about Caillat ... I'll have to check that song out. I've found "Bubbly", "Realize", and "I Do" to all be insufferably annoying, but I quite like "Brighter Than The Sun". Of course, it is the only one of the four that local HACs haven't decided to overplay.

It'd be a shame if that were T-Pain's big comeback song -- "Best Love Song" is so much better.

I dodn't see a note about the other thread; the last post was from a non-moderator, so I just figured it had gotten out of hand and was closed for good.

Colbie's "Brighter Than the Sun" currently is No. 88, while "What If" sits at 40. I like "Bubbly," but am partial to "Realize."

"I Wanna Go" has held pretty steadily; it won't matter much whether it inches up to No. 10. It's not like it's the top 10 on the Hot 100. :)

A top 10 on iTunes means front page promotion, it can help the song climb higher because everyone can see it.

You say that as if there are a lot of people like Katy. Almost no-one can rival the consistency of success Katy Perry's singles have had this year. The only person that comes close is Gaga Rihanna with her first 3.

Front page exposure definitely helps and anyone would likely benefit from it especially Britney who seems to be having a lot of success with her singles lately. TTWE performed unusually well for a Britney single. I really wonder what it would have done if she had released it first with the first single hype that HIAM had.

TTWE did receive a sales boost, thanks to the "remix"- not sure how that may have impacted airplay, if it did at all.

I just used Katy Perry as one example. The to-date sales for Spears' singles do not compete with others' big hits, as well, such as Gaga, Rihanna, etc. Like I said, they're strong, but they do look to have a limit, no matter the airplay performance.

The prospects of the Zac Brown Band besting their career-best Billboard Hot 100 single peak of #20 for "Chicken Fried" looks quite likely at this point, with "Knee Deep" stabilizing at #14 on the current digital chart while sprinting toward the summit of the Hot Country Songs singles chart (it is likely to be the Zac Brown Band's seventh #1 hit the week following this coming chart week).

This single's performance is also mirroring that of Jimmy Buffett's previous hit as a featured performer: Alan Jackson's 2003 mega-hit "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere", which peaked at #17 and has enjoyed one of the Country genre's all-time chart-topping streaks in terms of duration. "Knee Deep" obviously won't spend even half of the eight non-consecutive weeks on top the aforementioned single did, but then again it's a nearly impossible feat to mirror in this current radio/digital climate.

Jimmy Buffett's highest-peaking career hit is, obviously, "Margaritaville", which went to #8 in 1977. Should "Knee Deep" out-peak "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere", it will be Buffett's biggest chart hit in nearly 25 years. Not bad for a performer who everyone knows by name but has only had eight Top 40 hits his entire 42-year long career to date (three as a featured performer).

It's a bit too pleasant and "to be expected" by blink-182 for a lead release, I feel.

It touches up on that "welcome back, dear friend" button.......but after a few listens, it just has that "Well, that was that!" impression. Listenable, yet forgettable.

If history is of any indication, though, that may not matter. "Feeling This" charted well, surely, but it didn't have much staying power either..............and then look what happened with "I Miss You". Who knows, they could replicate that eclipsing secondary single success story with something that has a sense of maturity to it that nonetheless also is quite melodic and true to the changing tides of mainstream music.
