"Applause" now sits at No. 7- and its second charting entry sits at No. 1,037. I wonder if it will drop from the top 10 by the end of Sunday- if it does, it very well may return to the top 10 after the video premiere.

It now shows at 6, and the pop bars don't indicate that it was 7- but it indeed was earlier, Ah, it's only a notch.
Yes, the MTV Awards probably will give it a boost, too (along with other high-profile tracks).

I think Gaga would of sold more if the song didn't come as early the same week as Katys. Don't people have enough money to buy 2 songs the same week?

If the video is aimed at her 'little monsters', it won't help the song at all, maybe a little puh. Since "Alejandro" her videos haven't helped push her singles, that happened with BTW, Judas, TEOG, Y&I and MTN. and it's seeming she's going the weird route, with the drag queen lyric video and clownish cringeworthy stuff so hopefully the video is 'groundbreaking' in the good sense. I feel like I should know who Lana Del Ray is, but after reading her Wikipedia page, I'm still drawing blanks (I know she released a #2 album last year). Is anyone else surprised that BSO is still in the top 20? And is now gaining on Airplay?

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Soundtrack is coming to Itunes this week with songs from Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande. These two will most likely be in the top ten on release night.

"Applause" is #6. I think it could shoot to #4.
I didn't like the video that much but I'm curious to know how the general public will react to it.

The video is ok, but Gaga has set the bar so high with her previous videos that this seems a letdown to me. I hope it boosts sales though.

Course it was going to cause a boost in rank- just probably not enough to challenge for the top spot on iTunes. That would be some boost, if it did.

Has Safe and Sound been pulled from iTunes? That's the second time it's happened this week. Gaga's team is seriously confused on what her competition is, lol.

^Yah, No. 4. Nos. 3-6 aren't all that far apart, though.
As I posted in the thread in the pop forum, a significant boost, to me, would be shooting it to No. 1 contention. It's not like it was out of the top 10 or almost out of the top 20 and climbed to the top 5. It's gained around 0.1 or so compared to where it was prior to the video premiere (and the secodn entry is ranked in the 700s). We'll see how it goes through the week.
No. 1 on iTunes still has a pretty commanding lead- did we expect it to still be ahead bu .4 or so in pop bars at this point?

I believe that since Born this way she's been losing her relevance to the general public, and the new song (and video) seems to emphasize that, so I'm not surprised it's not doing better. It seems she'll be like Cher or Madonna, a singer with a huge and loyal gay fanbase and able to get an occasional hit every once in a while, but no huge appeal to the general public.

^Those two acts had far longer careers before they hit that territory, though- it's probably a tad too early (almost just five years since "Just Dance" hit) to make that proclamation.

^Pretty Sure it hit #2 last week. Right behind Luke Bryan and ahead of K Michelle.

85. Take Back the Night - Justin Timberlake
What a flop, and being top 15 on Pop, this song is seriously mediocre..

justin's Airplay to Digital Sales ratio is heavily skewed on airplay compared to his competition.
it could also explain his high album sales.

Luke Bryan is increasing again, which is pretty impressive. I hope he continues to do well, he's one of my favorite country artists.
Royals is about to pass Applause, probably will next update.
