Got the fan edition today. LOVED hearing it in full again, my name in the credits along with other fans seals the deal.

I didn't get mine yet, so I'll ask those of you who have it now: to get your name in the Fan Edition, did you have to fill a special box (i.e. "Please put your name here for inclusion in the fan booklet") in, or did it just use the name on the shipping info? I don't remember putting my name in anywhere special, so I wonder if my name's in there, haha.

I only bought the Fan Edition and my name isn't in the booklet :(

Just downloaded the deluxe album on iTunes and I love "Turn The Pages." It's a little cliché and kinda Disney-esque, but it's so catchy and has a totally irresistible vibe. The whole album is great. Between this, Haley's CD, Jon McLaughlin's CD and Sara Bareilles's EP, I just spent way too much money on music. (But what a great couple weeks it's gonna be listening to it all.)

I am listening to the album previews on itunes. This is SO much stronger than his last album. He reminds me of a mix between The Script and Sara Bareilles. I really like it, I can't wait to download it... once I have money...
Nevermind, just got my mom to listen to it so she bought it haha. She loved it.
So far my favorite song is Monster. Dunno why, I just LOVE that sound.

MW followed by Monster would be my ideal single combo.

omg Monster Monster needs to be a single. In fact, I agree with Shooter, My Weakness + Monster would have been the ideal single combo to start with. Does he have any promo lined up this week? Morning shows, talk shows, etc.?

(I'm on his official street team which is why I know way too much about his schedule :) )
He did a performance at the Apple Store in NYC and at least 2 radio interviews yesterday. He did Live in Kelly this morning then he did a private acoustic show for a NYC ad agency. Tonight he is doing a show (album release party?) at a club in NYC. He flies back to L.A. in the morning and is scheduled to perform at KIIS-FM's After Idol party tomorrow night. Then's he's got at least one interview on Thursday before flying back to Arkansas where he has a couple of radio appearances/performances lined up plus a CD signing at the Conway Wal-Mart. Then on Saturday he's got a show in Ocean City, Maryland and on Monday he's performing in some Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC.
Talk about jet lag! I hope he gets frequent flier miles for this

He's got a packed schedule of small appearances and radio interviews, but nothing to major except for Live With Kelly earlier today.
I'm really hoping this is just a set up for promotion over a long period of time. Kris isn't worried about being dropped from the label, so I won't either. :)

So I almost threw a fit at my local Walmart just now (10 pm). I decided to stop by and see how many copies they received of TYC and to my horror no TYC copies were on the shelves.
This is the same Walmart that had already stocked 70+ copies of Carrie Underwood's album by 7am the day it came out. They're usually on top of things like this. The only thing that stopped me from demanding to speak to a manager is that John Mayer's album wasn't stocked either. That and I had to leave ASAP.
I'll be giving them a call tomorrow morning though.

The album is so good. "My Weakness", "Out Alive", "Blindfolded" and "You Got A Way" are far and away my favorites.
My only complaint is that "Love Too Much" should've been on there.

MONSTER NEEDS TO BE A SINGLE.
I have had that song on repeat forever. It would be a PERFECT single around late September early October. Such an awesome song. Oh my god.
"Go on and scream cause nobody gonna find ya..."

I don't know about Monster. I have only heard the clip of it so far but in my opinion, it doesn't ring true from Kris, who is Mr. Average Nice Guy. Who is supposed to be afraid of him, LOL.
Edit: Just finished the whole album. I gotta say, I am impressed. I am not holding out hope for strong album sales because I feel the average public doesn't care about my Monchichi but what a fantastic, cohesive album and it's a step up from his debut, which I loved. I will continue to support Kris's music.

I actually think that looks awfully generous. I expect him to do even less than that. Like 15k. Totally called it, unfortunately. :(

yeah, i was expecting him to pull mat kearny/gavin degraw (what I call the 2nd tier male singer-songwriters after mayer/mraz) numbers (35k-45k), but looks like he can't even do that. doesn't bode well for him.
ah well. hopefully they get moving to a 2nd single (My Weakness!) and maybe the album will gain a little traction.

Damn. Poor guy can't catch a break. I hope he isn't dropped from the label after this album. I mean, from a business perspective, why does it makes sense to hold on to someone who is not making money?

From a business perspective, why does it make sense to not push their song to the radio formats they'd most likely do well in CHR & HAC? They've only somewhat pushed it to one.

I shouldn't be surprised but I'm frustrated nonetheless. Yeah, that. You can't really expect someone to sell when the label won't push the single and management can't even get him more than one tv appearance the week of the album release. I'm not saying I expect a big-budget blitz but how hard is it to get him some morning and late night talk shows, at least? This must be how Jesus felt when he told people to stop hiding lit candles under bushes (...I think that's how that parable went). It's been my pet conspiracy theory for a long while now that Sony just wants to rid themselves of all Idol alum, with the obvious notable exceptions (if Jordin didn't have Sparkle coming up I think they'd be trying to throw her under the bus too, but they might actually do right by her...we'll see). I even think they screwed the pooch with Adam, he just fares better b/c they put so much effort behind him the first time that he built up more of a solid fanbase that has carried over. But anyway, the lack of promotion that many Idols' sophomore efforts (if they're lucky enough to make it past the lack of promotion most of the debut albums get) always indicated to me that Sony saw Idol overall as good for little more than petty cash fund flow, not worth genuine investment. And that mentality seems to extend to the management as well, hence you get weak promotion schedules. It's easier to write someone off as not having enough 'star' potential than to actually try. And it's really a shame; ironically many of the albums from later seasons have been much more cohesive, well produced, and well written (typically with the Idol getting first-writer credit on the majority of songs) than debut albums from early Idol contestants, but they are generally seeing less sales for it. Sorry, I went on a tangent as usual but it's always been a pet peeve of mine b/c I feel a lot of these Idol guys catch a lot of flack for things that are mostly out of their control, unfortunately. I seriously don't expect any hits to come from TYC, even though it absolutely deserves them. If Sony/RCA won't even bother to try to make TVOL happen it's very unlikely that they'll be inspired to do more for a follow-up single - in fact they'd more likely do less, or maybe not even release a second single, unless TVOL miraculously takes off on its own the way LLWD eventually did. I should add that one should not take this as abject pessimism. Not everyone gets to be a long-term major label artist and not everyone necessarily craves that or considers it a failure if things don't pan out that way. I just want Kris to do well enough that he can always continue to make a living as a musician, b/c he's damn good at it and I enjoy him. He should definitely keep pursuing songwriting opportunities for other artists too, his biggest success may come that way.

This must be how Jesus felt when he told people to stop hiding lit candles under bushes (...I think that's how that parable went). No offense but please leave Jesus out of this. I feel like the label could try to pimp Kris all they want. I just don't know many people, besides me and a few people on Pulse, who are at all interested in him or buying his music. I don't think he's the kind of artist that sells in this current climate regardless.

I heard my HotAC station giving away free copies of Camellia today so the label is doing *some* promoting.

Kris would not be big on CHR I think, for the reason you stated - his style is not what is 'in' right now - but he could and should have been more established on HAC by now and then get moderate hits on CHR (like, top 20 with an occasional top 10 breakout).

I don't buy that Kris not being able to do well on CHR. Jason Mraz, Gavin DeGraw, Matt Nathanson, The Script and more are not necessarily CHR friendly in the current climate (I'm talking the past few months, till now) but have managed top 30 hits.
It's all about them ACTUALLY sending the song to radio. Then we'd see how he fares.

I have to say I love this album from top to bottom, there isn't a skipper on it for me. This is everything I had hoped for from Kris, and the production is amazing. His songwriting on this album has exceeded my expectations in every way.
I, too, hope he continues to see success in his songwriting placement for other artists. He performed for Universal Publishing at some event a couple of weeks ago; I hope his songs met with some interest for other media. Speaking of Mat Kearney, he has had a ton of his songs used on TV; that's really helped raise awareness of him as an artist.
TVOL is picking up some momentum at HAC; let's hope it continues and the song can do the work itself until RCA decides to lend a helping hand.
