Their SNL spot was pretty f**king successful but Zayn delivered a star turning performance last night. Late here but just saw SNL today. I agree with this. This is the first performance I've seen of their since a couple when they were still on X Factor, and Zayn seemed like the main star of the group. Also, lol @ the big deal being made about the one having a beer. Most young adults do have drinks with their friends...

news.yahoo.com/uks-one-direction-sued-us-band-same-name-010904045.html :o UK's One Direction sued by US band with same name Reuters – 21 hrs ago... Members of British boy band One … (Reuters) - Simon Cowell's British boy band One Direction, among the hottest new acts in the music business, has been sued for trademark infringement because it is using the same name as a small California pop-rock group. In what is expected to be a multi-million dollar lawsuit, attorneys for the California band are seeking an injunction that would stop Cowell's Syco Entertainment and Sony Music from using the name One Direction in promotional materials. They also want a share of the profits earned by the chart-topping British boys. The five Britons, who have taken the U.K., the United States, and Australia by storm after being discovered on Cowell's British talent show "The X Factor" in 2010, are named along with Syco and Sony Music Entertainment in the federal lawsuit filed on Monday in California Central District Court. The California band says it is entitled to three times the profits made by their rivals, as well as compensatory damages in excess of $1 million. Syco declined to comment on Tuesday, and a representative for Sony Music could not immediately be reached. The lawsuit claims that Syco and Sony Music "chose to ignore the plaintiff's rights and wilfully infringed them" after they realized in early 2011 that the two bands share the same name. The northern California band has been using the name One Direction since late 2009 and has recorded two albums, the lawsuit states. It filed an application to register the trademark name in the United States in February 2011. The British band, made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles placed third on "The X Factor" and went on to top the U.K. charts with their first single. Their debut album "Up All Night" entered the Billboard charts at No.1 last month in the United States, and they were greeted by hordes of screaming young girls at appearances in New York and Los Angeles ahead of a U.S. tour later this year. They are currently in Australia. One Direction already has some 4.2 million Facebook fans and 2.8 million followers on Twitter. The five man California band, by contrast, has a much lower profile. Led by singer and pianist Sean O'Leary, its members began making music at school and the group has played at local fairs and bars, according to their website. The lawsuit said the continued use by both bands of the same name was causing "substantial confusion and substantial damage" to the goodwill earned by the California group. If One Direction had to change their name, just "1D" would be cool!

Because Zayn doesn't have the personality of a star member. The breakout star usually dominates in every way. And he doesn't really have the overall popularity. This may not be a good gauge, but based on Twitter followers, Harry (2.9M) > Zayn (2.5M) > Niall (2.5M) > Louis (2.4M) > Liam (2.3M). Well yeah, I guess Harry has the strongest media presence/popularity because of his "controversial" relationship with that old hag too. Zayn has the most swagger and charisma out of anyone in the group live and he's like the hottest in looks besides that other one in your avi. I'm gonna need him to have a sex tape...sso he can be catapulted as the star of course, not because I just want to see or anything.

Bye @ those distant-ass dates. I'm gonna need him to have a sex tape... He has my endorsement but I'd be crushed if his co-star was anyone other than a man. CRUSHED.

So between the Europe and North American tours in 2013 they'll be touring consistently between February and August. Plus apparently they're adding more dates for Australia/NZ next year too. In that case, I'd bet anything that they will record and release a new album this fall. There's no way they are going to wait until late next year to do one.
Also, tix for the 2013 North American dates go on sale April 21st. They really want to make sure we don't latch on to a new teen heartthrob before then, huh?

I think they should've booked them in bigger venues. They could be doing stadiums if they wanted to. There's no reason they should be playing theaters considering their massive fanbase.

I don't think I've ever seen an act sell tickets for a 2nd US tour when the first US tour hasn't even started! They'll actually be bigger in 2013 than 2012 if "One Thing" and future singles smash as I'm sure they will. Really they shoulda put these tickets on sale in the Winter. I would love to go to see them again next year but I am not about to buy tickets for something THAT far in advance. I'm sure they'll all sell out within a matter of minutes too. Thankfully there is Craigslist and such cause I'm sure by next Summer alot of people who bought those tickets now who won't be able to go by then for whatever reason. Thats the only way the new fans that catch on to them later this year or next year can go, or people like me who will wait til it gets closer.

They're really not as big as you would think yet. I asked a group of little girls if they knew of them and they hadn't even heard of them. So yea, they should probably be on Nick and Disney more or something.

I asked a group of little girls if they knew of them and they hadn't even heard of them. I'm sure they fumbled and said the first thing that came to mind. In my experience, when strange men approach me (sometimes with strange questions) I instinctively bark "NO!"

I don't think I've ever seen an act sell tickets for a 2nd US tour when the first US tour hasn't even started! I bought tickets to see GaGa for her second leg of her Monster Ball tour in NYC before she had even done her first NYC date. These happenings are very rare, for sure. I think they should've booked them in bigger venues. They could be doing stadiums if they wanted to. There's no reason they should be playing theaters considering their massive fanbase. It really depends on the size of the show that they're putting on. If the staging is a certain way, a stadium could swallow them whole. Their setup is probably staged for theater sized venues at this point.

If the backstage sexiness to music ratio is like that for the whole thing I'm all over it.

Pretty much. No, but in all seriousness though, young girls are their market. Every little girl should know who they are and if they don't, their team is doing something wrong.
