That's fair, House. I know it's the guy saying he has the moves like Jagger, but Adam still could have had her maybe sing the chorus with him at the end, rather than do those adlibs that add nothing to the track. BTW- it was on America's Got Talent and Today that Maroon 5 performed the track. You are a broken record.

Oh, of course some Aguilera fans likely bought the track because she's on it. Whether she has more fans than Maroon 5- I guess sales of their last albums would be as good a comparison as any? Her fanbase isn't as rabid as, say, Britney Spears', though.
Thanks, Infinity- but you can always move the needle so you don't hear me. ;)

why have people elected to buy the X Tina version over the Maroon 5 version? Not just X Tina fans but the general public.

Christina is going to FINALLY get her 5th #1. It's Maroon 5's #1 (if it happens), she's just featured on it. Pandora is probably referring to Billboard and credits. It will count as a #1 for her in her list of #1s which has some fans excited. "Just featured" is good enough to Billboard just like Britney is credited for a #1 for her role in S&M or any other feature really. Now, whether that should continue or not is up for debate! They don't do retroactive rule changes as far as I know so the #1 will stand if it happens, but might change for future cases since so many people seem so focused on features counting now. I wonder if Billboard is discussing changing the rule? I know they did for remixes that one time.

I believe against artists having featured singles count towards their trajectories/tallies, but I don't see any rule change coming or anything. If the remixing trend keeps up they might change the rule so that featured artists on a remix that's not leading in airplay don't get credited (i.e. Kanye would have got E.T., Britney wouldn't for S&M), but featured artists on original songs/airplay leading alternate versions are going to keep getting credited.

The way SLY is selling on iTunes it may not need much more airplay to go #1 on the Hot100 next week!

I'm tired of this same old bulls**t discussion. Where was everyone claiming Drake shouldn't be credited a number one for "What's My Name?" or 3OH!3 for a top ten debut on "Blah Blah Blah"? Just because it's Christina Aguilera, people go into a huge hissy fit.
Yes, the Christina fans are blowing her part out of proportion. But, it seems like everyone else is way too quick to discredit her as well. She's on there for about 1/4-1/5 of the song, so it's actually a decent amount. At least it feels like her part fits with the song, unlike 3OH!3's and Drake's parts in the songs I mentioned above.
Christina is going to get credited if "Moves Like Jagger" goes number one. Deal with it! The world isn't going to end because she got a number one hit as a featured artist. Pretty much this. It is funny to see people so "pressed" about it, though.

People may very well be sick of her (although I doubt it), but I don't think post VMA sales are a very good indicator. Gaga and Adele shot up the charts because a) they both performed and b) their songs are both pretty damn new. Lil' Wayne is dominating because a) his album was just released and b) he performed. Beyonce performed a track unheard of by most, so clearly it would rise. I could go on and on. Katy, on the other hand, didn't perform, and all of her songs are a year old by now. Also, she won for what? ET and Firework? Name me 2 people in the world who haven't heard those songs by now. Both are nearing 5 million downloads and have reached the end of the road on radio. No added exposure now is going to help songs like ET and Firework, but will obviously help Someone Like You, You and I, etc. That's a fair point. They are already fully saturated. Ok I get that but even LFN fell like a stone...but it is a 5th single. It's something to consider.... Since when is LFN falling like a stone?

X Tina deserves credit for this song. If there is no version of the song without her then she definitely should get credit. It's up to the artists in combination with the record company as to who should get credit for a record. It's not up to billboard or any other publication. Maroon 5 and it's record company clearly thought X Tina's contribution was enough to warrant a credit on the record. The case for features is separate and different than the case for remixes. Let's not confuse the two.

For all we know, Adele may pull a #1 on Hot 100 with Someone Like You. The chart is pretty weak right now, only one song in top 10 has an upward trajectory.

As far as I an tell, no one ever said Aguilera should not be credited- "featurings" have become very common since the late 90s/early 2000s, after all. That's what's helped some R&B/hip-hop acts rack up an insane number of Hot 100 entries. For Billboard's all-time acts lists, though, as mentioned, featured acts only get 30% of the track's total points throughout its run (for something like "S&M" and "Till the World Ends," I imagine the featured acts would only get the points for the single week they were credited). So, "featuring" tracks definitely counts among an act's hits count, but they do not contribute wholly toward an act's total points in an all-time-acts ranking.
Aguilera's role on MLJ is no different than the rapper who has a rap section on a track and gets credit- so it's never been up for debate whether or not she should be credited or not.

I really don't get all the fighting over Moves Like Jagger. It's a Billboard rule that featured artists also get credited for #1. A lot of artists that were featured on a song but only sang one word were credited for #1. So whether you hate Christina or not, if they hit #1, it's gonna be for both of the parties, and that's that.
