According to a DJ at WQDR in Raleigh, Scotty's 2nd single will be "The Trouble with Girls". The station will premiere it tomorrow (August 30)
Mike Wheless of 94-7 WQDR tweets, “I’m gonna play the new single from @scottymccreery (The Trouble With Girls) Tuesday at 7:10!†also, “Talking to @scottymccreery at 7:08am Tuesday! I’ll find out if he’s gonna finish high school & if so, how!â€
“The Trouble With Girlsâ€, is co-written by Chris Tompkins (Before He Cheats) and Philip White (“I’m Movin On, "“I’m A Survivor†and “He Gets That From Me†)

Smart choice to move on to a new single, I think. While "I Love You This Big" still only 14 weeks old, I don't see it getting much higher. Makes sense to release something new while people are still interested.

I knew they would have one out before the new album. They got everything out of "Big" they could. Smart move! Can't wait to hear this tommorrow!

The writer of this song, Chris Tompkins, also wrote Reba's "Survivor" and "He Gets that from Me", Carries "Before He Cheats" and Rascal Flatts "I'm Movin' On." Also Pickler's "Rocks instead of Rice."

Wow. This is MILES better than "I Love You This Big". "I don't know about #1, but top 10 I think is a great possibility.

Better than ILYTB, but it's just solid, nothing to blow people away, and another ballad? It will be fine on the radio though.

This song proves he's got a great voice that is more than 'just another Josh Turner'.

This song is OK, but nothing special in my opinion. I would expect it to perform similarily to ILYTB, but maybe peak a little higher (top 10 instead of top 15).

Maybe they'll use an uptempo song for the 2nd single. I like this one, he sounds great, very good song overall. I'm happy :)

I like this song overall better than ILYTB, but I'm not sure it's a better radio song or as catchy.

But his phrasing sounds too remniscent of Josh Turner on "Another Try", if you ask me. This is a decent song and will probably do a little better, but I'm not totally feeling it yet. At least it's ten times better than the atrocious "I Love You This Big". Mercury should've never pushed that song to radio as the lead single anyway...if Scotty had had a better song (and not that lame coronation song), he could have started with a top 5 hit, I think.

I just listened to "Another Try" and this back to back on Shure ear bud monitors and I must say that their vocal phrasing isn't that close here. Josh has to go to falsetto notes to match up with Trisha and has a deeper singing voice than Scotty. Scotty's vocal phrasing on this song is more akin to a Tim McGraw style of singing than Josh Turner. I agree with you though that if this was the 'coronation song' he'd have been top 10 with it right now.

Maybe it's better that he has an uptempo song as his "3rd single" ;) , to keep album sales going. Two ballads are enough...

Yeah thats amazing promo right there on Country Aircheck! I can't wait to see the flood of adds in the next 2 weeks. He had a great amount with ILYTB, so they could be even more this time! I'm really diggin' this song the more I listen to it! The strings kinda remind me of "The Breathe You Take" and the vocals kinda reminds me of Blake Shelton's when he sings softer. Like I said I hope to see it #1 but I have no doubt top 10 is a guarantee!

You know, I didn't care for "I Love You This Big" enough to buy an album from him. But if this single is as good as the posts above say it is, I may have to look into his album.

You know, I didn't care for "I Love You This Big" enough to buy an album from him. But if this single is as good as the posts above say it is, I may have to look into his album. Just wait til you hear the title cut "Clear as Day." That song is better than anything I've heard on the radio this year! I so wish that had been the new single, although this song is great too. "Clear As Day" demo from the songwriter leaked, haven't heard Scotty's vocals on it, but the song had me smiling in the beginning and tearing up in the end. Its an emotional roller coaster song in 3 1/2 minutes that goes from happy to very sad with the very last couple lines. I can't wait for people to hear this one. In the meantime hear this new single and see the lyrics here: www.scottmccreery.org/scotty-mccreery-new-single-the-trouble-with-girls-stream-online/

I love this. Only complaint is the production (Mark Bright...) gets to be a little loud. Looking forward to his album.

Really like this! I was surprised that it's a ballad since I was expecting an uptempo based on the title lol. It sounds like a 2nd/3rd single material. However, with Scotty's solid fanbase, combined with the promotion he's going to get since this is his "official" debut single, I don't think this will have much trouble doing well on the charts (and in sales) :) Between this song and the title track, I'm happy with the song choices on the album so far. Can't wait to hear the rest of the tracks!
