Why isn't Carey's #1's included?

I would guess insufficient sales to make the top 200

#1s is 5x platinum so I'm guessing it would have made the top 30ish list with sales in the 3.5 - 5MM range. Plus, Carey has insisted that it was never a greatest hits set so perhaps it isn't recognized as one.

I'd say it's just insufficient sales. Mariah saying "this isn't a greatest hits set" souldn't change Billboard's selection, should it? I don't think it's very close to the top 200 anyway, honestly (Although I'd love to see it there someday ).

So is Madonna gh considered a double album or does it extend 90 minutes to be counted twice...it is certified either 10/11x platinum with 5.8. Million sold??? Well, for starters, the album was released in 1990. Two, Soundscan wasn't completely accurate during the early part of the '90s. Three, that total doesn't include record club sales. Well, that sounds about right...I guess. I know a couple of Mariah carey albums sold 7million but were certified diamond but from 5.8 sold to 11 million shipped...whew. This makes me question sales of other greats like MJ, the Beatles, Elvis Janet...well, she is extremely undercertified.

"janet." for example is definitely at 8X Platinum... probably "Rhythm Nation" too at a push. She's very undercertified.

Well, yes, it makes sense- given that not all sales of the album were tracked by SoundScan (including big sales from the last two months of 1990) and that it likely was a big title at record clubs. :) Damita's albums probably have shipped in the neighborhood of 36 million-37 million. As for #1s- what else could you call an album that housed 13 singles that peaked at No. 1 on the Hot 100? If you go by that thinking, then any #1s-themed album wouldn't be a greatest hits. (Elvis and The Supremes had No. 1s albums in the 80s, and they of course were GH album).
