lugus, I've inquired with Billboard to see if they can find out why SS doesn't include Christian-outlet sales in the to-date tallies on the chart- I've inquired again, to see if there's been any headway.

Billboard, supposedly, does include those sales when reporting sales numbers, and for year-end charts and such.

What do you expect them to say? soundscan charts are not open to the public. This should not even be something you know about.

@ 2m, I really don't understand why Soundscan is so secretive about their ¨charts¨ and ¨sales info¨. I mean the film industry provides sales numbers readily.

Billboard has access to the charts- hence, BB would be the one inquiring. :) I've pointed a number of items out to BB in the past that it was appreciative of, so no qualms about inquiring on this matter, which is a practice rather than hard-sales information.

I really hate that Billboard doesn't report the full sales of those albums that are Christian/are sold on Christian outlets (even tho I'm not Christian myself).

For instance the REAL sales of this album are 490,236

My count is 489805 and out of that in christian outlet sales 16165.
That doesnt even include sales of the cd through PBS.
The PBS special was a huge success.
The dvd of it went to #1 on the Music DVD chart.

Im pretty sure Soundscan doesnt count the PBS cd sales but what about the RIAA? Does that go towards the platinum?
The question many Jackie fans have been asking is when is Dream with Me gonna be certified platinum?
The christmas cd coming out supposedly on Nov 1st should help.

^ I think the RIAA counts shipments to those outlets, correct me if I'm wrong though. I've also always found it weird that SS doesn't count totals from Christian outlets... I mean, why? LOL unless there's something unusual with the pricing in these stores (and even that's a bit of a stretch) there's no reason not to count them.

^It wouldn't be so much an issue if SS didn't count the totals from Christian outlets AT ALL. But, those sales are included in the weekly sums, so it's bizarre that SS wouldn't include them in the to-date tallies.

Shipments too all outlets are applied to RIAA certs.

Good. It seems like it would be more work to subtract out the Christian outlet sales every week than to just keep them as part of the cumulative totals.
