Jessica's Top 40 Chart Thread!

I usually post my chart in the Personal Charts thread, but I want to start posting fun commentaries on here, so why not start a thread of my own? My chart has been on the internet since July 2003 (although I started actually doing them sometime in 2002, but I lost all the charts I've done prior to July 2003). It started as a top 25, then it was a top 30 for one month in December 2004, then from 2005-2008 it was a top 40, then in 2009 it became a top 25 again. I'm considering expanding again so I won't have a million songs on my bubbling under, but we'll see. My chart commentaries will consist of a summary about this week's chart, a flashback segment where I post the top 10/debuts from that week from a previous year, and if I've made any music purchases within the past week I'll mention those. I usually post the chart on Saturdays after my show, but I am not doing one this week so I'm posting this week's chart today instead. I want to keep this week's chart commentary short and sweet since I have other crap to do right now. So here are the highlights of this week's chart:

- New #1, same artist! Slaydele is #1 again only this time with “Rumour Has It”, and she also still holds the top three. Basically it's Tori Amos all over again on my chart. Aside from Adele, Tori is the only other artist to have the entire top three on my chart, which she did back in May 2005 with “Sleeps With Butterflies”, “Original Sinsuality”, and… “Mother Revolution”? Yeah that sounds right.
- Sixx:AM and Pearl Jam enter the top 5. ROCK IS COMING BACK ON JT25!11
- Noel Gallagher's High Flying birds enter the top 10. ROCK IS STILL COMING BACK ON JT25!!11
- A bunch of random people climb. Selena Gomez, Foo Fighters, Britney Spears, etc.
- Only one debut, and it's… a metal song? :o Megadeth's new single debuts at #24. Mmmmm Dave Mustaine ;)
- Lots of A-list artists are added onto the bubbling under, such as Daughtry, Katy Perry, the Foo Fighters, and Rihanna with what I believe is her best solo single since “Hard”.
- CD purchases time! I bought the following at Groovy Records in Deland last Saturday:

The rest of my birthday money will probably be spent on clothes and make-up, although I also bought Katy Perry's perfume, Purr, this week, which could technically be considered a music purchase since Katy Perry is a singer. But anyway, now it's time for a BLAST from the PAST!!1~

Time for the flashback segment! This week we go back to the metal-tastic year that was 2010! German metal band Accept spent their second of five weeks at #1 with “Blood Of The Nations”, off their comeback album of the same name. Ozzy Osbourne also enters the top five with “Life Won't Wait”, which ended up peaking at #2. Blind Guardian, a power metal band who my boyfriend is obsessed with , make a big jump into the top ten from #14 all the way to their peak position at #6 with “A Voice In The Dark”, and honestly aside from that there isn't much going on in the top 10. Late 2010 was actually quite dead on my chart since this was when around the time I was going through a phase of where all I listened to was rock/metal. I was still up to date on pop to an extent, since I heard a lot of pop music at the stores I go to in the mall, hence why Katy Perry and Bruno Mars are on here. But for the most part I was not paying attention to pop at all during this time. In fact, to prove to you guys how out of touch (hi Hall & Oates) I was with pop music at the time, I first heard Diddy-Dirty Money's “Coming Home” for the first time a month ago. OOPS. To make matters even worse, I loved it. And it didn't even make my chart. MEH. Also, some flop Bon Jovi song debuts this week.

Good chart! Here's hoping that Papi and The One That Got Away get high peaks.

Hi all! Yes my chart a top 40 again. I dunno where to start to be honest. Slaydele is #1 again but with a different song. “Set Fire To The Rain” is back at #1, tying Whitesnake's “Love Will Set You Free” as the longest running #1 of the year so far. Can she out-#1 Whitesnake? We'll find out next week. ;)

Let's see what else we have here… Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds makes a HUGE climb from #10 to #3 in their third week on the chart with “If I Had A Gun”. Slaydele rebounds into the top five with her former #1, “Rolling In The Deep”. *waits for people to be annoyed that I still have that in my top 5 * Only one song enters the top 10 this week – the Foo Fighters with their current UK single, “Arlandria”. They are also one of the million debuts this week with their new US single, “These Days”.

As I just mentioned there are a bunch of debuts this week as I'm back to a top 40. The top debut is Daughtry with their latest rock single, “Renegade”. HOT STYX REMAKE! Aside from them and the Foo Fighters we also see debuts from the following: Rihanna, Simple Plan, Jennifer Lopez, One Direction, Alice Cooper, Katy Perry, Daughtry (again), Nicole Scherzinger, Duran Duran, Night Ranger, and Breaking Benjamin. Speaking of Nicole Scherzinger, she also re-enters this week at #27 with her former #3, “Don't Hold Your Breath”, as it has now been released to radio in the US and I really hope it's huge as I LOVE that song. The Goo Goo Dolls also re-enter this week at #30 with their former #22, “All That You Are”.

Time for the flashback segment! This week we go back to the first year my chart was on the internet – 2003! This week we see Kelly Clarkson getting her second of six #1's on my chart with the oh-so-underrated “Low”, kicking Evanescence out of the top spot as they drop to #2 with their best song ever, “Going Under”. Also on the chart we see Luther Vandross entering the top five with his only song to make my chart, “Dance With My Father”. R.I.P. :( Two songs enter the top ten – Beyonce's future #1 “Baby Boy”, and Dido's future… #3?, “White Flag”. Yes, I forgot where that song peaked. On my own chart. But anyway , Debuting on the chart this week is Britney Spears with one of her biggest hits on my chart, Sheryl Crow with a song I haven't heard in forever, a Destiny's Child song that I seriously only heard once, and… no comment on the other debut. I should be grateful though that it wasn't “Sorry 2004”, although I think that one debuted later in the year. :(

That's awesome that you're doing your chart again I lost inspiration in doing mine a few years ago for similar reasons but I started doing it again because I missed compiling a chart and now I enjoy it more than ever And yes that Lesley Roy song is very underrated, it only got to #18 on my chart but her previous single "I'm Gone, I'm Going" went to #3 a few months prior. :)
