XL/Columbia look to have timed the SLY campaign perfectly. There's just nothing anywhere near taking its place at the top for seemingly weeks (Xmas?). As long as it keeps selling, of course. The nearest rival in terms of sales (LMFAO's Sexy...blah blah blah sh*te) is over 90m behind in airplay! SLY's sales look even more remarkable when you consider that an additional 120k-ish copies of the song are also being sold with the album each week.

Yeah, when you put together the number of people who bought the album and the people who bought the single, that's astonishing. In the digital era, the highest total for sales of a single + sales of the album it comes from is "Love Story" from Taylor Swift's Fearless. "Rolling in the Deep" is very much on course to beat it.

Xmas? That's 13 weeks away (17 weeks after its first week at #1; this week is actually the first week of Q4). That's kind of stretch. I think LMFAO and Rihanna's airplay/ sales will be threat in about a month or so, plus something unexpected might fly straight to #1 out of the blue.
We'll be on to SFTTR around Christmas time I would think.

Next No. 1 will be "All I Want For Christmas is You" Justin Bieber/Mimi Carey duet. (while that could see some sales action, I full expect the original once again to reign over the holidays). The next No. 1 challenger could be something already charting, but what big-act albums aside from Rihanna could release a potential No. 1 before year's end?

What about "Stereo Hearts", its the closest airplay rival (#4 in 2 days), though its sales would need to rebound

I don't think she'll hold on to number one until Christmas, though she will secure a nice stretch of weeks in the near future. Aside from the obvious threats posed by Rihanna or LMFAO, rumored new music from Kesha could be a quick iTunes and BB Hot 100 number one. An X-Factor or AMA performance that piques the public's interest might also catapult a song that right now appears as little to no threat to SLY. Will its sales and longevity compare to RITD, though? 39 weeks on the Hot 100 and rose 22-21 this week.

I say SLY can stay at #1 for like 10 weeks or so. There may be ocassional pop-in-debut-#1-and-fall songs that released in Oct/Nov like how last year you see WMN? and WRWWR.

I'm thinking about 7-10 weeks for 'Someone Like You' too. Like Fizzy said, there will be a few new releases that will get to the top on the back of strong first week digital sales, but of releases already establishing airplay, nothing looks like a big threat. 'Sexy and I Know It' and 'We Found Love' are really the only potential threats. 'Someone Like You' could potentially be #1 until early January minus a few weeks off from first week digital smashes, which could be over 10 weeks.

I was only idly speculating when I asked if SLY could be #1 until Xmas, lol. But just look at the current 'competition' and it doesn't look that much a stretch! Agreed, there could be a 'loose cannon' not even released yet that suddenly takes hold of US iTunes for a week or 2 but they are going to have to outsell SLY by well in excess of 100,000 that week! And this is the quarter that SLY most belongs in - dark, cold Winter nights. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I definitely think it has a great chance of beating RITDs weeks at #1.

Those songs would need to make up almost 3m in airplay each day on SLY for that to become a reality in one month. At the moment they are actually losing ground to SLY on airplay each day! Obviously SLY will eventually peak but unless something drastic happens LMFAO and/or Rihanna won't be near SLY's airplay for well over 2 months! I tell you, the SLY campaign has been timed perfectly (by luck or judgment I don't know).

^ Well, I think by then LMFAO and Rihanna will be ahead on iTunes, so the airplay gap won't need to be that big. Plus Rihanna songs always explode on radio (Rude Boy, OG, WMN, S&M) and if SAIKI could do at radio what PRA did, but who knows.
I think Adele will probably peak around 150-160 mil (depending where it goes at RHY)

SLY is taking off at Rhythmic so I could definitely see it reach 150-160 million. However, both LMFAO and Rihanna have been steadily gaining ground on this all week on Itunes. Not to mention Rihanna has yet to release the video or publicly display a live performance of the song.
I dont think LMFAO's airplay will be a factor. I actually see Rihanna passing it overall in the next few days. Its strong digital sales will make up for it though.
SLY will remain #1 easily for the next 2-3 weeks. After that, I see both of those songs posing a threat.

I don't see SLY coasting at #1 uninterrupted till December. IDJ will be on getting WFL at #1 like white on rice and LMFAO pose a decent threat, too.

I guess Mr. Know It All Is DONE! Time to rush release the next single and hope that it fares better. Dont be such a know-it-all Well it's the truth. I thought Kelly was turning a corner finally. Instead, the callout numbers came in worse than expected and pop radio started to pause a bit. I guess by next week MKIA will be -400 in pop spins.
