This was Sharon's biggest R&B hit, despite missing the Top 40 on the R&B chart. However it was a major club hit and remains a popular club song from the early 80s. Still gets a lot of play during garage mixshows on Urban AC stations. She had a handful of wonderful club songs despite never really having major success on the R&B charts. Sharon unfortunately died from AIDS-related complications in 1992.
The video for "Beat The Street" is a horrible, low budget mess! She's wandering around the streets of San Diego mouthing on and off to the lyrics.

Her best song. Often heard this on an old school internet radio station based on 80s R&B/Dance station WBMX 102.7 in Chicago many years ago. Usually heard this during old school WBMX-style mixes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3hevkAExe4
