 Single cover for the duet of Evan's song "The Best Years of Our Lives" which is being re-recorded as a duet and released as a single for Evan. There will also be a video, which Avril will be appearing in. |

Hmmm the duet is... disappointing. They don't sound that good together and the melody is forgettable.

Do you guys think we'll get this album sometime in 2012? I would hate to have to wait any longer than that. We'll definitely get this record in 2012. She's already in the studio, and didn't plan on going back in until January. She's obviously inspired and has been saying how she wants to do another album since Goodbye Lullaby came out. Epic almost has more lined up for WWYH promo than RCA had lined up for Avril's entire album. I'm sure they'll want an album from her relatively quickly. |

Listened to this album for the first time this morning. I was quite surprised that it was so pop/rock. I still don't like the singles and there were a few album tracks I wasn't crazy about, but overall it was a decent album. LG and UMS were still better though IMO.

With that out of the way, can't wait to see what she has in store for us this time now that she has Goodbye Lullaby out of her system and is now re-united with LA Reid at Epic Records. GL wasn't bad by any means, though.

it's vintage gear, you don't find that stuff in studios in LA. what does it matter anyway, Avril will work with a dozen of other producers in the next months. If she says now "2 songs down" it does not mean there will be 2 songs by the Runners on her next album, everything can change. "3rd day in studio with @therealrunners and la_reid came by tonight I love him. Good times and fun music. Bad ass rad ass!!! " there you go, she was meeting LA Reid like I said (maybe not in NY as I thought because Epic's headquarters are in NYC and Avril will be in NYC next week, so who cares), but yeah what do I know about the genre, if you want poprock you go to producers who are good at poprock. And you go to producers like AlexDaKid, TheRunners, Pharrell Williams if you want rnb/hiphop/rap or anything urban-sounding is it that hard to understand? "if that's what she wants" - how would you know that's actually what she wants? Because L.A. Reid made her say so? Chantal was her mentor during the making of UMS and was that a bad thing? Avril is a good singer but she is pretty clueless about music as hard as it sounds. Many artists need and have a mentor who can give advice, a rolemodel, some other artist they look up to. If anything, Avril is influenced by trash like Brody Jenner at the moment. |

Who says if you want good pop/rock music, you are restricted to pop/rock producers? That's extremely narrow-minded. We've seen many hip-hop producers working & coming out with music that are not in their comfort zone. Mike Elizondo produced rock/alternative for Fiona Apple, A7X, Switchfoot & Rilo Kiley. Timbaland worked with OneRepublic, The Fray, Chris Cornell, Daughtry, Michelle Branch & The Hives. Tricky Stewart did pop/rock on Katy's 'TD'. Brian Kennedy did 'Mr. Know It All' with Kelly, 'Firebomb' with Rihanna & EVEN COUNTRY with Rascal Flatts. Pharrell has produced R&B, hip-hop, rock, pop, dance & even scores for movies. He produced ALL GENRES.
We've heard an instrumental titled 'Candy' which Avril did with Alex da Kid. It was pop/rock excuse me. What's more he did 'Airplanes' which was not your typical rap track. It has elements of rock in it. Alex also worked with Rob Thomas & Skylar Grey. Go listen to 'Dance Without You' by the latter, it's alternative music. The Runners did two POP/ROCK tracks with Rihanna - 'Cheers' & 'CKB'.
So there you go. Avril working with these hip-hop producers does not mean it's going to be urban music. It could be pop/rock with a twist & a fuse of different genres. What's more you have not heard the tracks yet SO STOP JUMPING TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS. Is that so hard to understand?

'UMS' & 'LG' are excellent albums but we have to move on from these two eras. What's the point of harboring hopes that Avril will go back to that dated sound when we can look forward to her reinventing herself while staying true to her roots? Avril, LA Reid, the label & the fans want success for her career & music, going back to the pop/rock 'UMS' & 'LG' will not allow that. She needs something fresh & working with different producers who are current & in demand can find the much needed spark for her music.
Chantel was great & 'UMS' is a masterpiece because of her input. Once again, MOVE ON. What's in the past is in the past. There are so many other great musicians out there so why restrict to one or even wanting to go back to the past?
Yeah what do you know? They met on a Saturday/Sunday and in LA, not like what you & your lameass assumptions thought they're meeting NEXT WEEK & in NY. Opps, so much for being an insider. I'm conflicted: on one hand, I'm hoping they shoot for a fourth quarter release so her sales will be somewhat inflated, but on the other hand, the selfish fan in me doesn't want to wait another year for new music. |
