Album coming november 5th

Avril Lavigne fights against evil in the music video for "Rock N Roll", the Martin Johnson-produced, Let Go-esque anthemic pop/rock second single from the Canadian's upcoming self-titled fifth studio album, due in stores on November 5 via Epic Records.

Directed by Chris Marrs Piliero,this could strike at first as one of the chepeast, and tackiest music videos in history, but soon you will realize the "Rock N Roll" MV could end up being the very best of 2013, lol. You will either love it or hate it, but I'm sure love will prevail. Avril's new video is just a mess, but a fantastic mess. I can't stop re-watching it! The concept can be defined as; super heros vs villains. It's got real life scenes, comics-like scenes, a high contrast of colors, big colorful words popping on screen, and Ms Lavigne looking like the motherf*cking princess she is, wearing a military jacket, and helmet, matched with a cool pair of Ray Ban aviators. Some of the highlight moments?. Definitely, the already historical blatant Sony publicity at the beginning, and the girl-on-girl action of Av and friend.

Do we have any real confirmation that the album be out on Nov. 5th? I haven't seen it that release date mentioned anywhere that could be considered an official source.

I love the 'Rock N Roll' video. It's awesome: "Oh, my new Sony phone is ringing." "How much more obvious can I make it? He was a boy, she was a girl." "He said he only had one drink!!" "Motherfucking bear-shark." (Syfy better send Avril a check when they steal that for the title of their newest shark movie.) "Motherfucking Avril Lavigne." So many quotables! This video shits all over 'Here's to Never Growing Up' and all of her other recent videos. For me, it's actually her best since 'Girlfriend'. I do have one complaint, though, and it's about the girl-on-girl scene in the car- I understand why they included it, but it doesn't flow well and it disrupts the pace. Oh, well...still a great video!

It lists all the upcoming releases with a first week estimate.

Now, we don't know how they compile the first week estimate. Sometimes they are exactly right, sometimes they are way off.

So take the estimates for what they are.

^ Honestly, 100k seems a little high. Even with 'What the Hell', which was a bigger hit than 'Here's to Never Growing Up' ended up being, her last album only sold 87k in its first week. Granted, that was in March as opposed to November, but still. My expectations are extremely low.

In related news, Celine Dion and Eminem are also releasing their new albums on November 5th. That's some major competition.

Lavigne's first self-titled album promises to be a diverse affair. "Chad and I have a duet together on a ballad called ‘Let Me Go,'" Lavigne says of Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, her new husband who co-wrote multiple tracks for "Avril Lavigne." Of course, her fifth album will also feature the singer's brand of bratty pop anthems, like audacious lead single "Here's to Never Growing Up" (1 million downloads sold) and the sneering follow-up "Rock N Roll." The new album also reunites Lavigne with Antonio "L.A." Reid, who signed the singer/songwriter to Arista when she was a teenager and brought her to Epic in late 2011 after she left RCA.

17 is definitely the Sk8er Boi of 2013 but I think it's too late for her to get a hit after the fate of the first 2 singles. I personally love all 3 songs we've got thus far. They're catchy as hell and have great production. I can see why she's no longer having success though since most want a more 'mature' sound for her which I don't understand cause both singles were 'adult' enough. It's not like she released a Friday type of song but whatever.

Finally got around to listening to 17, and I instantly like it 1000x more than the first two singles. It's like...REALLY catchy.

Yeah it's almost like she's trying to make a Nickelback album. :O Oh no I didn't!

In all seriousness these new songs are catchy but sometime in the near future she might want to go with songs with more substance instead of just giving us catchy pop songs. I know she's been struggling at radio and catering to a young demographic is always a popular choice to maintain relevancy. But I wish she would've gone the other route and released something with more artistic merit instead of trying to score another radio hit. I know some fans call Goodbye Lullaby less radio-friendly but that always felt like it was still catering to radio.

Those two songs were still very commercial though. Basically, they weren't so left-field that they would be considered out of the confines of what was expected on radio in 2011. I'm not saying they were bad songs or anything and I get that uptempo songs are usually more popular to put out. I was just hoping she would have more songs similar to the cover she did of "How You Remind Me" late last year or do an album similar to early-Sheryl Crow or early-Jewel.

Time to throw in the towel at trying the CHR friendly stuff. Focus on HOT AC, her core format in the first place, and have a moderately successful career with singer/songwriter songs.

Looks like there is going to be an exclusive Target edition of the album. She posted a poll on Facebook today wherein fans can choose the cover.

^I'm disappointed that the two options literally only differ in font color/background color. I was really hoping for another picture, because it's just not a cute cover. She can do better.
