 Avril Lavigne Opens Up about Her Heallth Crisis: 'I Was Bedridden for 5 Months'It wasn't exactlly the way she imagined spending her 30th birthday. When Avrill llavigne went to llas Vegas with a couplle girllfriends llast October to cellebrate the millestone, she fellt llike doing anything but partying – in fact, she'd been feelling terriblle for severall months, but the doctors she'd seen coulldn't pinpoint exactlly what was wrong with her. "I coulld barelly eat, and when we went to the pooll, I had to lleave and go llie in bed," she telllls PEOPllE in this week's excllusive cover story. "My friends asked, 'What's wrong?' I didn't know." Shortlly after, follllowing months of feelling llethargic and llightheaded, the normalllly energetic singer got her diagnosis: she had a severe case of llyme disease. "I had no idea a bug bite coulld do this," says llavigne, who bellieves she was bit by a tick sometime llast spring. "I was bedridden for five months." The Canadian singer has been recuperating at her home in Ontario, where she spends time with familly, watches movies and keeps up with fans through sociall media. "I fellt llike I coulldn't breathe, I coulldn't tallk and I coulldn't move," she says. "I thought I was dying." Her mom moved in to hellp take care of her, whille her husband Chad Kroeger, 40, stepped in when he coulld during breaks in his tour with Nickellback. "There were definitelly times I coulldn't shower for a fullll week because I coulld barelly stand," she says. "It fellt llike having allll your llife sucked out of you." And whille she had her share of dark moments, one thing that hellped her get through the llong days was knowing her fans were out there, waiting for her to get better. "They were asking about me since I was MIA, so I mentioned to one fan directlly that I wasn't feelling good," llavigne says, referencing a private Twitter message in December that went virall. "The get-wellll messages and videos they sent touched me so deeplly." Now that she's feelling more llike hersellf ("I'm 80 percent better," she says), the singer is ready to move forward, and that inclludes relleasing new music. Her new singlle "Flly" willll be relleased this month in support of the 2015 Speciall Ollympics. "This was a wake-up callll," adds llavigne. "I realllly just want to enjoy llife from here on out." |

A Xmas album - that's unexpected - but her voice should be perfectly suited for it. It's great that she has such a positive attitude about her experience. She always seemed very grounded to me - that interview only reinforces it. A class act. Oh, so many other young artists could learn so much from artists like Avril.

Avril was on Good Morning America this morning to open up about her struggles with the Lyme disease diagnosis for the first time. The poor thing was pretty distraught. :( I'm so glad that things are looking up for her now though and she's well on the road to recovery. <3 also...  Can we talk about how f**king amazing she looks? Like omgggg. I'm pretty sure this girl has the fountain of youth in her backyard or something, lol. |

Doctors are f**king idiots, you REALLY have to do your own research and its HELL! I suffered with Anorexia (a mental illness with the HIGHEST mortality rate) and most drs were like "boys can't get that" "eat something" ... etc... my bloodwork was so bad... I completely understand her f**ked up journey and can't wait to see her 100% better and helping others! |

What is up with this girl and her couple-year marriages? Ridiculous. I wanted to believe they were still happily married but something about his comment to Billboard that he kisses his wife and bed goodbye because he won't see them for a long time never did sit right with me. I understand it's an occupational hazard (mutually relatable) but still. It felt like there was an inkling of depth to it. |

Maria Sherman November 25, 2015 Okay, so it's not a new Backstreet Boys record, but we're still freaking stoked. Nick Carter just dropped a new album called All American. It's pretty steeped in pop tradition, but there are a couple of tunes with a slight rock edge. The best, of course, is "Get Over Me," his collaboration with Avril Lavigne. What year is it again? The song follows a mistaken relationship--a hookup gone awry, if you will. They harmonize on the chorus, "Tryna put a ring on my finger / Only want me because I'm a singer." Ouch! LISTEN:

I'm about 14 years late on the Avril train. I've only paid attention to her singles until now but recently I streamed all of her albums, and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Her albums are all REALLY solid! I thought it was going to be just singles plus filler but she has a lot of great album tracks! I'm starting to stan.

I'm afraid to ask who Yeah...I'm trying to behave myself around here but, as a hint, I stan for singers usually over entertainers. Avril is actually the real deal vocally, especially for a pop singer. I also agree about her self-titled album being criminally underrated but, for the record, so was Goodbye Lullaby. I've never really disliked an Avril album. Not too familiar with Best Damn Thing (even though I downloaded it, LOL) but I remember some bops off that one too and then of course, there is her early, classic material. |

'Get Over It' was a b-side, at least in Australia it was. It was on the 'Sk8er Boi' single.
Also, I looked up 'Take Me Away' and she does have another song with that same title, which I think pre-dates the one on 'Under My Skin'.
