Thanks. :) I'm just picking out the holiday titles on those other charts- the AC Golds, of course, is all holiday titles, so I'm just spotlighting the top 10 primarily. Overt the next few weeks, other formats should be chock full of holiday titles. Urban AC has a decent amount in its top 40 Golds, as you can see.

'AWFCIY' should reclaim its throne on the Holiday Digital Songs chart.

^With other versions (i.e. the one that appears on Holiday Hits), it's possible, but it's also possible that "Mistletoe" will hold on top for the 12/10 chart, based in its iTunes showing last week.

I was going to ask this in the other thread that 2M started with the Holiday Hot 100. But this is Holiday packed, so will ask here. Does anyone know the name of the song, it was basically a dance song, but it was a holiday song, by the likes of La Bouche. I don't recall if it was La Bouche or not, but one of those 90's groups that did dance music. Help me please. Was it Silent Night, something like that...thanks for any help.

^Melanie Thornton of La Bouche recorded "Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming)" before her passing, but it wasn't a dance track. Fun Factory had a track called "Sad Christmas." Of course, there's also "Macarena Christmas." Some dance acts recorded a holiday song, but not sure which one you mean- any other details? To tie this into the thread, I don't think any holiday tracks by these fleeting dance acts get much in the way of airplay.

Hi, samtha- you're welcome. :) And LOL at the bathroom-tile comment. The Golds charts are more important, of course. The Golds charts are for 2008-and-earlier tracks. That could be the reason for the discrepancy in regards to Aiken's album. Susan Boyle's The Gift has scanned well more than 2 million, but SoundScan, for some odd reason, does not include them in the to-date totals. I've been told that it will include them at some pint within the next few months or so. We'll see.

Mediabase 7-Day Rolling Charts, 11/27/11-12/3/11 As we see, it's the mainstream AC and Urban AC charts that are holiday music's biggest supporters from Thanksgiving all the way up to Christmas. Airplay at pop radio should pick up again in the week leading up to Christmas.
But, even for Christmas week, the Pop Golds chart isn't all holiday titles- looking back at 2006's chart covering Dec. 19-25, there were 15 non-holiday titles in the top 40. AIWFCIY topped the list by far, with 1,204 spins in that week. The tracks that filled out the top 5? N Sync's "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" at No. 2 (583 spins), Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo" at No. 3 (511 spins), Band-Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas" at No. 4 (502 spins) and Madonna's "Santa Baby" at No. 5 (464 spins). Will the top five at Pop Golds look different for this year's Christmas week? Stay tuned.

I thought sales of Michael Buble's holiday album might approach those for Josh Groban's Noel, given the wider appeal of Buble's music, but Noel was selling 400-500K beginning T-Day week, while Buble's Christmas is doing 200-300K. Guess we're not in 2007 anymore, toto.
I wondered the same thing to a friend once. Her theory: It's a great album for background music at holiday affairs.

ASCAP Members Kick-Start the Holiday Music Season with the Top Ten Most-Played Songs
"Sleigh Ride" Tops List, Having Been Played Nearly 65,000 Times Since October 1
New York, NY, December 6, 2011: Nothing raises peoples' spirits - and inspires shoppers' zeal for finding the perfect gift - like holiday music. That's why radio stations around the country are eager to start playing America's most beloved holiday songs earlier and earlier each year. ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) has just released its list of most-played songs of the 2011 holiday season. For the second year in a row, "Sleigh Ride" tops the list of songs, which were all written or co-written by members of ASCAP.
"ASCAP is home to America's greatest songwriters and composers," says ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams. "So it is no wonder that the top holiday songs have been written by our members. This list reflects the enduring power of music. It's a beautiful thing to realize that a songwriter's work lives on in such a way, bringing happiness and meaning to millions of people's lives year after year."
Since October 1, 2011, "Sleigh Ride" has aired 64,317 times, making it the most-played holiday song on radio so far this holiday season. Although it depicts a wondrous winter scene, "Sleigh Ride" was written originally by Leroy Anderson on a hot summer day in 1946 in Woodbury, CT. Initially composed as an instrumental piece, The Boston Pops Orchestra gave the first performance in a concert conducted by Arthur Fiedler at Symphony Hall in Boston, May 4, 1948, and Mills Music published it that same year. The Boston Pops Orchestra recorded it in June of 1949. After Mitchell Parish added lyrics in 1949, it has been recorded by perhaps the most eclectic range of performers than any other piece in western music, with Leroy Anderson's recording the most popular instrumental version and The Ronettes' recording as the most popular vocal version.
The top 10 most-played holiday songs so far this holiday season are listed below, all written or co-written by ASCAP songwriters and composers. Each song includes songwriter credits, and cites the most popular artist version played on radio to date.

Surprised "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" isn't in the top 10, but, then again, no other version gets anywhere near the play that Brenda Lee's original does.

^Rhythmic Golds should have some holiday tracks charting Christmas week- but, not as much as other formats. Looking at the 2006 Golds chart (one that I have handy), these were the number of holiday tracks on Golds charts for the chart reflecting Dec. 19-25 (out of 40 positions):
Rhythmic: 11 Pop: 25 Country: 26 Hot AC: 30
The top three at Rhythmic for that 2006 were Run-DMC (526 spins), TLC (363 spins) and Mimi Carey (352 spins). After those, Boyz II Men (No. 7) Destiny's Child (No. 10) ranked in the Rhythmic Golds top 10.
Obviously, AC Golds' top 40 has been all holiday tracks for weeks.
