Christina Aguilera, Joe, Gloria Estefan have all done this song (and more probably) but I think the best is still the original from the 70's (?) by Donny Hathaway. I remember hearing the original every year at Christmas but it wasn't until last year I found out who sang this version.

I definitely think he has the best version. I placed it in my Top 30 of all time as far as Christmas songs go.

Ashanti also sings this on her new album, "Ashanti's Christmas." I don't think I've ever heard the original. I've only heard Joe's, Christina's, and Ashanti's.

Really great song, but don't shoot me: I listen to Joe's rendition more than the original.

I like Patti LaBelle and Dru Hill's rendition of "This Christmas" too. Dru Hill did a fabulous job re-working it, almost as good as the original.

You should really hear Ashanti belt it out on her "This Christmas" rendition. It really surprised me. It was such a sudden change from her usual range to her wide range.

I've never heard him do this song, but considering its Donnie Hathaway, it gets my thumbs up. This guy can sing.

Really great song, but don't shoot me: I listen to Joe's rendition more than the original. Ditto! Joe's my boy! He's on Soul Train today performing "More & More" (which is still unavailable on a number of pay download sites :() Anyway I play his version every year, since he recorded it.

I heard Donny's version at Walgreens yesterday. Also, I forgot to mention in an earlier post that Ruben performed this on that Christmas in Rockefeller special.

Shocked there is no thread for this song until now. Written and recorded by Donny Hathaway in 1970, this has become one of the modern holiday standards. It's been recorded by dozens of artists in the past 40 years. This has arguably also eclipsed all his other hits to become his signature song.

Yeah this is a genuine classic. Hathaway has my favorite male voice of all-time. If I could have anyone's voice, it would be his. Did he do any other holiday songs?
Mariah has said this song was an inspiration for "When Christmas Comes."

I love - this- version, but it seems like every R&B artist and their brother chooses to cover it.

My favorite Christmas song of all time! I used to listen to this and Christina Aguilera's version (the best) all the time. Memories
